No. No. Thats the good thing on the golden gate shot there, you can see the fire towers are blocked out a little bit here with the surface fog and a little bit of drizzle. Lets watch it from aloft. There you can see all the bay kind of covered up. The east bay shore line does not get too far. We did get the cooling. Again, this will mix out as we mentioned, looking into a Sunny Afternoon for everybody. Temperatures in the 60s territory. 60 san jose and 56 covers San Francisco. Novato is 55. 2 degrees ahead of where we were at this time yesterday. Most readings across the bay a couple of degrees shy across the bay and even inland, we see that. Looking at oakland, morning fog, mostly sunny. Temps get back to the business of around 70 or so. Mild to cool afternoon depending upon your perspective and a glance of the day as a whole, clear aloft. The surface, particularly along the bay. We are already breezing past 80 by noon. Inland temperatures in the lower 90s before we start to break that by the mid of next week. First day glimpse at what is happening on the roads. Pretty quiet out there. Looking good at the bay bridge toll plaza. Its wide open no, problem approaching the toll plaza. Checking in on the san mateo bridge, a live look at 92. Ride here heading to the peninsula so far at the limit. If you need to get into hayward into foster city, it is a good commute right now. The ride across the Golden Gate Bridge, going to be a good right from across the bridge into San Francisco, even doyle drive is looking good. Sensors are green at the limit so far. 24 the east shore freeway. The nimitz, macarthur maze, getsing through dublin, livermore, Castro Valley no, problem. 680, thats a good right. Our top story this morning a violent shooting in an east bay highway stretch. People are increasingly frustrated saying that steps taken so far are not working. Eastbound 80 in emeryville. This is the latest spot where a driver has been shot. In time in the head. It happened about 2 30 monday morning just before the powell street exit. All these driveby shootings are crazy. It does concern me about the shootings thats happening. Those who travel i80 or watching their backs. Ill be worried and now more checking around while im driving, trying to, you know, be cautious of the surroundings. Especially when it comes to those traffic jams. Reporter the latest east bay freeway shooting is the 26th since november of last year. The chp says that most have been car to car and gang related with the victims targeted. The chp is not saying if thats the case this time the rash of shootings has already led to the installation of cameras along a stretch of highway 4 and prompted a task force to seek funding for i80 cameras. Probably not a bad idea. While some drivers support the idea, others are not so sure. Freeway cameras are not going to stop the shootings. It may help find the direction that shooter may have went. But if somebody is having road rage or if they are aggressive, theyll do what they are going to do. Those cameras are not stopping the crime. Reporter the highway troopers are working to get funding for the cameras many meantime, they are tipping to collect evidence. This latest shooting is one of three dozen the east bay highway has seen since last november. We want to take a look now at what is being done to curb the crime rate. In pittsburg, surveillance cameras are now up and running. The cameras came after the murder of shaneka williams. The chp, various Police Agencies and several bay area mayors are also on a task force. They are working to put in High Resolution cameras. Shot Spotter Technology and license plate readers along interstate 80 from el ceritto and herculeses. Another big story we are following for you this morning after the deadly shooting in austin, texas on sunday. We learned that woman killed was from the bay area. Taneka moltre was 24yearold old. We talked to her wife. She was a bus driver here at the Sequoia UnionHigh School District where her wife said she always felt like she had something to give. Sabrina rudd, the wife of three months is still austin processing the tragedy. Im just heart broken because our future was ripped away from us. They were visiting family when a night on the town turned deadly during a random shooting spree. Reporter her colleagues in redwood city put flowers on her bus. Rudd said that everyone loved her wife, and everybody who she loved everyone and especially the children. She loved working with special Needs Children she loved the couples most he is sighting plans were dashed to pieces. Though they had a small private wedding ceremony in april, they had planned for a big one in october. Im going to miss her soap so much. She was my wife. She was my everything. Austin police still have not made an arrest in that shooting though they have put out a warrant in the arrest of a 24 yearold man. Three other women were also shot in austin an ended up in the hospital. In redwood city, spencer wake, kron 4 news. In the east bay a car plow neighborhood a super hair cutting salon in livermore. Take a look at some of the damage. The accident happened around 1 00 yesterday afternoon. Fire crews say that the car just went right through a huge window and a vacant business next door. The car finally stopped after crashing into the wall. Heard a big loud noise and oh, my goodness. Got louder. So it must have come through the first window here. I jumped up and ran out. And like there was a big car. Employees say that two people were inside getting their hair cut at the time. It was an older man behind the wheel who may have hit the accelerate for instead of the brakes and no injuries were reported finally after many delays, a judge denied a request to delay the trial of the man accused of kidnapping and murdering teenager lamar. The attorney general of torres asked for additional pushback to october but based on the length of the time, the case has been pending. The judge turned down the request. Investigators say that her dna was found in Garcia Torres car. Her body has never been found. Jury selection is now slated to start in midseptember. San francisco officials want the parents of kate steinle to drop the lawsuit against the city. Police say hat shooter was an illegal immigrant who had recently been released from jail. City argues that it had no duty to notify federal immigration officials of the man released unthe sanctuary ordinance. The city insists that it has no responsibility. The parents argue that the man would intrn arrested, and deported if the city had done its job. The c. D. C. Issues a travel warning and floridas zika virus outbreak. The sobrannes fire near big suhr still burning. Over 40,000 acres have been burned. One man died driving a bull doze en down a ravine while fighting the fire. The fire already destroyed 17 home runs. The fire start ed a week and a half ago and containment is not expected for another two weeks. The department has sent a lot of the people there to the sobrannes fire. Sffd shared these pictures. Nearly 350 people are assigned to this fire and about 1600 firefighters are still working near fresno to put out the goose fire. We are now just seeing the first cases of locally contracted zika. The ill necessary is most dangerous for pregnant women and their babies and its been linked to devastating birth defects. Federal officials stressing the impoance of mosquito control. When you have travelrelated cases and the mosquitoes that are capable of transmitting this infection, youre going to see in certain situations like we have seen now what we call a local outbreak. Authorities in florida are working to test mosquitoes for zika, treat and eliminate mosquito breeding sites and cut back on a key breeding factor.
