Money toward the new stadium the raiders have committed 500 million bank of america will finance the rest to the tune of 650 million mark carpenter is live in phoenix at the nfl owners meeting. Whats the word out there mark . The nightmare scenario Oakland Raiders fans have been dreading for months became a reality monday morning. As nfl owners, with an overwhelming 311 tally, voted to send the silver and black to las vegas. My father used to say that the greatness of the raiders is in its future and the opportunity to build a world class stadium in the entertainment capital of the world is one opportunity that will give us the ability to achieve that greatness. And it didnt take long for mark davis to get the greenlight to move to sin city. Nfl owners opened mondays meeting at about 830 in the morning, two 1 2 hours later, the vote came down. Ultimately, the leagues top executives could not walk away from 750million dollars of nevada public money. And as far as oakland is concerned, commissioner roger confirmed there was never a workable solution presented to him. We need certainty on a viable plan that will work for the community and the team long term. It had to be actionable. We understand the contingencies sometimes occur, but major contingencies that put the entire project into doubt are just unreasonable in a case like this. in the meantime, awkward times await oaklands raider nation contingent. The team will stay in the coliseum for at least the next two seasons. While their 1. 9 billion dollar stadium is built. Davis hopes to maintain a strong relationship with the bay area fanbase. I wouldnt use the term lame duck. We are still the Oakland Raiders and we are the raiders and we represent the raider nation. As i said earlier, theres gonna be some disappointed fans and angry fans and its gonna be up to me to talk to them and let them know why, how and what has happened and hopefully we can work this out and Work Together for the future. One step davis is taking to make it work. Is he announced fans who paid deposits for season tickets will receive a full refund. But no dollar amount can heal the nowfractured relationship raiders and the people of oakland. Reporting from the nfl owners meeting in phoenix, mark carpenter,kron4 news vicki and the team did release a statement. Regarding todays decision to move the raiders to las vegas. The team writes quote, the raiders were born in oakland and oakland will always be part of our dna. We know that some fans will be disappointed and even angry, but we hope that they do not direct that frustration to the players, coaches and staff. We would love nothing more than to bring a championship back to the bay area. End quote. grant while many expected nfl owners to allow the raiders move to vegas, it didnt do anything to reduce the disappointment for those in the city of oakland kron 4s dan kerman is live at city hall with reaction from the mayor and the president of the city Council Oakland reax to vegas raiders 0327175pkgsot libby scaaf oakland mayor 0009im sure by now youve heard the disappointing news that the raiders and the nfl have chosen las vegas over oakland. Things ranging from a season Ticket Holder periodical. A helmet. A flag. Tee shirts. You name it. People are already throwing away their raiders stuff. We talked to one former fan who almost took a more drastic step. Well i was gonna burn a jersey. I have the matches in my pocket and some lighter fuel in the car. Then i saw a Police Officer. I asked her what would happen if i just burn my jersey. She said i would be charged with arson. Thats a felony. Im not going to face a felony for a team leaving. Its terrible.
