Though some people would ask us to believe differently science is not an idealogy. The threats are to the scientists themselves, having their work questioned, denied their integrity, theyre being called liars and frauds. That is a line we cannot stand. The fear is that the questioning of science by the Political Climate in the Current Administration in washington will result in serious cutbacks in scientific research. The cuts that we are talking about will really have a major impact on the progress and the speed of science. My research relies on funding from nih and there are a lot of concerns about that budget being cut which would have a big impact of the science i do focused on autism. What happens when we start to erode the funding or the trust we have in scientific institutions. The fact that were even having a debate about the climate changing is still surprising.
