From what theyve been looking at, theyve been able to tell us more about what was going on when chp officers arrived on scene. pkg the sevenhour shut down of northbound 101 friday night came after a wrecka shootingand we now know a carjacking attempt in between those two things. Captain dave norris with San Mateo Police is leading the investigation into the suspects criminal behavior, and says its not clear whether the initial crash led to the carjacking, or viceversa. Obviously we cant identify what the state of mind was of the suspect at that time. Chp officers responded to the wreck and saw the man one of the drivers in the crash with a handgun. Witnesses say the officers tried to talk him into dropping his weapon, but they couldnt get him to cooperate. Thats when three officers shot him. The officers that were involved from chp as well as responding officers from San Mateo Police department immediately attempted to render first aid. The suspect ended up dying. His wouldbe carjacking victim the other driver in the initial wreck wasnt hurt, except for pain from the collision itself. Witnesses are still sharing what they saw with police, as they piece together the chain of events. Witness accounts and information came in through phone calls, through social media. Chp is doing its own investigation into whether its officers followed protocol. The District Attorneys Office is looking into whether the shooting was justified. The 14 year old has run a marathon in 48 states. Nikolas toocheck ran marathons in 48 states last week i just did four marathons. This week im just doing one. And you know sometimes youve gotta take it easy. You gotta know your body. But you know im out here to have fun. Toocheck runs each race with his dad, an optometrist. Daniel toocheck ran marathon in 48 states its priceless. Its one of those things where you get to do something that you love and help other people at the same time. Truly theres Nothing Better than that. It was his work that inspired his son to raise money for seva a berkeley based foundation that helps prevent and treat blindness.
