With a disturbing story involving a north bay high school. A video captured a fight between a student and a teacher at Redwood High School in marin county ground force reassess. Reeses story about what happened at the school in the north bay the week. Just after 11, 30 morning at Redwood High School in larkspur school. Officials say that the student was playing loud music on a speaker and the teacher asked him to turn it down. The student refused and the teacher attempted to take the speaker. And that is when the student reportedly struck the teacher and the 2 wrestled to the ground eventually another staff member runs over and separates them. This was a really unfortunate in first for students. It was an isolated incident. Tara is the superintendent of the time. A pious union school district. She says authorities are investigating student. Im looking into anything leading up to the incident was kind of scary. I guess. We all know that kids. Just a little surprising. No one was hurt. But the fight was unnerving for students. As you can see in these photos obtained by kron, 4 news students were brought outside and police came to the school. I removed the student. I feel like theres something i could have done to prevent this. But i hope that they can prevent it in the future. If anything like this arises again, obviously parts of were not acceptable. My school standards, this parents said that he knows the video is facing a lot of scrutiny but feels it is important to discuss rather than just judge. I think we should all pause and look deeper. Stefanos even eugene tie worked as an afterschool art teacher at an Elementary School in san jose. Deputies say the incident happened 2 years ago, but would not identify which school was involved. Detectives conducted an investigation and said that i conduct it, contacted the miners through social media. The teacher was booked into the Santa Clara County jail on charges of lewd acts with a child under the age of 14. Officials believe there could be other victims. San franciscos District Attorneys Office is appealing the dismissal of a civil lawsuit against the law firm potter handy. The lawsuit initiated this april attracted attention because it accused the law firm and 15 of its lawyers of filing fraudulent cases against Small Businesses under the americans with disabilities act. Potter handy allegedly knew of the fall standing testimony but filed those lawsuits anyway. In august, it was dismissed on a technicality under the states litigation process. District attorney Brooke Jenkins announced the appeal at one of the affected businesses today. Most of the businesses that were targeted were small mom and pop operations that could not legal representation in the time fighting back against these fraudulent losses. As a result, many of them chose to settle out of court. Which costs thousands of dollars. Jenkins estimates that well over 10800 businesses across the bay area were affected by the fraudulent lawsuits. Over the past 3 months, a new report says oakland has the 10th highest homicide rate increase in the country. According to personal finance website, wallethub kansas city had the highest rate of homicides in july august and september. Oakland was the only California City to make the top 10. Los angeles was ranked 22nd. San francisco was ranked 28th. That report comes as Oakland Police investigate a shooting that sent 2 women to the hospital. Police say they were both shot just before 7 oclock last night near the corner of international boulevard and 40nd avenue. Both women were taken to the hospital for treatment and are said to be in stable condition. No motive or suspects have been given. Police say that they are still investigating and Oakland Police have arrested 3 people who they say were carrying firearms. Officers saw the suspect entering a parked car with guns on 27th avenue. This happened monday evening during a vehicle stop. The police found 3 loaded weapons. Investigators say one of the suspects had an outstanding robbery winds, but no information on why they had guns at the time. The investigation on this is ongoing. Oakland police say that they have recovered more than 1200 firearms this year. More than the department recovered in all of 2021. Last year, there were 60,000 homes in the city without People Living in them. Thats up from 40,020 19. A new report released today by the city gives a better idea of what types of homes are sitting empty. Well, forced out as but has those details. The report is not a good look for San Francisco with so many People Living on the streets. Supervisor dean preston says 15 of all homes are vacant. Were learning a lot more when the Census Bureau put out the numbers last month for vacant homes in San Francisco, the citys budget and legislative analyst was asked to find out more. Supervisor dean preston says for every person experiencing homelessness, there are 14 vacant homes. Its just mind blowing to try think about those 2 things together and not be shot. An outrage. We have nearly 5,000 people on the streets. What we have 60,000 units tonight sitting empty according to the supervisor. The report shows that most of the homes sitting empty for 6 months or longer are vacation homes. 10,000 total. His biggest concern, though, is the increase of vacant homes that are for rent. Landlords hope in the Housing Market will improve so they can rent at higher costs. A lot of these levels, that they need to adjust their rental prices down slightly to attract people and to read out those units in november, voters will decide on whether or not to approve an empty homes. Tax owners of vacant homes and buildings with 3 or more units will have to pay 2500 to 5,000 the first year. The tax increasing each year to a maximum of 20,000.
