He pulled out a gun and shot a passenger numerous times before leaving just as the train doors opened. The suspect fled and we spoke to the police chief who has acknowledged that there is a lot of unanswered questions. Who is the victim or the suspect . Police dont even have a motive. At this is a pretty brazen, random act. We have a number of bart personnel assigned to patrol every couple of stations. We have a special team funded by the federal government that is responsible for safety and security. Reporter police are saying as soon as they know who the victim is they may be able to piece together whether or not he knew the gun man. They dont know whether they know each other, there is no motive and they cant even say if it is random or targeted. Lots of unanswered questions. One question i have that i dont know if the chief answered, in regards to the gun man and the victim, we know the ended at the west oakland bart station but when did they get on the train . I asked about question and he did not say anything about the transit history of the suspect or the victim but i understand the suspect was seen earlier that evening at the pittsburgh bart station. It is possible that he traveled all over the county to west oakland and whether or not there was any confrontation, we dont have any report. We know that the man without any warning suddenly opened fire and passengers tried to perform cpr but could not be saved. Very brazen indeed. The raiders are staying in oakland at least for now after the nfl owners meeting where the approved a move for the rams back to los angeles for the season. Mark davis was visibly disappointed his team was not chosen to move to southern california. Owners rejected a proposal for a joint stadium with the chargers. Davis is not committing to staying in oakland be on the 2016 season. We have some things that no other city has, and incredible and dedicated fan base, we have very valuable real estate, the legacy that belongs in oakland, and thinks to the decision yesterday the team now has an extra 100 million that can only be spent on an oakland stadium so that is another weapon in our arsenal to make the case that we can get this done in oakland. How much are we talking total . This extension may be for a full year so what can the city do now that it has not already tried to do to keep the term here team here permanently . Theres a new administration, we came into city hall around the same time that they turned their sights on los angeles. We are very excited to have the opportunity to sit down, dig deep, roll up our sleeves and show the raiders that there are creative ways to utilize Development Value and get the stadium done without a direct public subsidy. The city of oakland is willing to finance Infrastructure Improvements that will be owned by the public. The raiders have put up with the extra money, 600 million on the table so that gap is really narrowing between the Development Value that we believe is available as well as potential utilizing public tools that do not put taxpayer dollars at risk but allow us to monetize payments upfront. We believe we can get to some Modest Development that adds economic vitality, a great new stadium as well as preserve at least 8000 Parking Spaces so mark davis can have the incredible tailgating experience that we know is important to him. We want to say thank you and to the oakland fire department, police department, paramedics, i want to thank everybody. He was part of a crew installing sewer lines at a home on 23rd and 21st avenue. But they did not sure up the sides of the trench and it collapsed onto of the workers. The soil buried him up to his chest and rescuers make sure he was never in distress and his vitals stayed strong. One of those rescuers, great job dan, thanks for telling the story. You were saying a couple of engines had arrived but because you were part of the rescue squad, what did you see right away . We already had an engine, they were setting up safety lines in anticipation that we would be going inside the trench. They immediately told us to put harnesses on. We have some gentlemen buried. As we walked up we could see 10 feet down, there was a gentlemen buried up to his chest in what we could see was soft soil and pieces of plywood and other debris. Have you ever done a call like this in your career . This would be a first. One of this magnitude and type of rescue. You go down eventually into this trench . Tell us about the dissent and when you get there, any communication between you both . Fortunately the gentleman was able to speak. He was in high hopes, he was calm, so he was able to help and follow commands and assist us in some of the things we were doing. Was he nervous and scared, but when it started getting dark and the rain started coming what was the mentality . He would yell to a couple of friends that were still there and wanted to talk to him, we are reassuring him and he stayed very calm and did a great job. But you are working him you are working to get him . We were wearing what we call a public harness and a chest harness and we were lowered in from a system from a ladder if you look at the pictures we had a company lowering us down and we were working to not only stabilize him or any more crush injuries but to keep all the rescue theres safe i see that truck there, but did you have shovels in hand . We started with shovels, pockets, down and dirty work to get as much soil around him as possible while making sure the material did not collapse any further. Were there some sketchy moments . Absolutely. The soil was sandy so any movements you make have to be very deliberate. If you kick the run part a section would collapse and that is what we were avoiding, more weight to be placed on him. 13 hours, did you expected to take that long . It was a long day but the crews debate great job. Everybody worked hard and it was a joint effort between us, Alameda County, public works bringing out that unit was huge. Was it hard . There were sections of hard clay but as we are looking to the gentleman to the right, it was clay and left, and the front was sandy. The overall it should be dealt with was sandy soil and the fact that it was collapsing on to him. Shoring up the plywood and any material keeping him from being crushed to support and prevent those further collapses. That was executed perfectly.
