Today, the president designated the Stonewall Inn in new york city. The First National monument as the first monument to the Gay Rights Movement. The Stonewall Inn where would later be referred to as the stonewall riot sparking the modern Gay Rights Movement your condor his executive authority, the president made the National Monument designation which protects the bar now and a 7 acre area surrounding it including christopher park. A special and colorful Police Vehicle will be in the streets of new york this weekend. The rainbow colored nypd vehicle. Thank you all, orlando united. On the hood of the suv are the words pride, inequality and peace took the vehicle will appear at the pride parade on sunday. What a wonderful tribute. The San Francisco pride festivities kick off tonight at we have more on the steppedup security measures in place throughout the weekend. With us now, Sergeant Michael and rich. Sergeant, thank you for being here with us. Lets talk about it took the weekend is here and i know festivities are starting tonight. We want this to be the safest weekend possible but its also supposed to be celebratory and a fun weekend. A celebration. How do we balance the 2 . It is about celebration and the community. We realize there are a lot of lgbt officers that will be walking in the parade and others working to keep you safe. So in participation, up to 1 million people. We have increased our staffing and you will see additional officers out there just the same as you would in a year. Uniform Police Officers around the parade route and in and around the pride trustable festival. Tomorrow night, if we are heading out to San Francisco, what should we do as the people who want to go out and celebrate. The first thing to remind people love is saturday in particular. There is no organized event in years past, there were street closures and street parties. That is not happening this year. That is for saturday. We do encourage people to come out and patronize our businesses in San Francisco. We want more people to come out and feel safe. You will see Police Officers in and around the castro district. Anywhere there might be an lgbt venue our entertainment area. You will see additional Police Officers. We just want people to feel safe and be safe. When it comes to sunday, you will have a whole lot of people out there for the parade on sunday, one of those what are some of the changes we will see . I speak from experience. I have walked in the parade millions of times many times. I encourage you to come out and watch the parade. You will see additional Police Officers along the parade route. Hopefully, a large contingent of Police Officers walking in the parade and we have visiting officers from sacramento that typically join us and i understand this year, nypd will send a few people to come and walk with us. You have to go through metal detectors at some point work to bring any bags or weapons. Sharp knives. That is for the pride festival that takes place at the plaza. Saturday, from newman and from noon until 6 pm. Following the start of the parade up until about 6 oclock sunday night work this is the first year metal detectors will be used so we encourage people to leave your extra stuff at home and if you dont need to bring it, dont bring it. If you are bringing a bag, 18 x 18 is the largest size bag and you will have to go through either a walkthrough metal detector or be wanded. So leave the extra stuff at home and come out and have a good time. Sergeant Michael Andrew with San Francisco police. Thank you so much. The vote that sent shock waves around the world exactly how that will happen will still be hammered out while stocks took a hit and the value of the pound plummeted. Political and economic leaders are left to kind of find out what it means for other nations. The president has pledged to keep close ties in britain. The United States and the United Kingdom are bound by history and culture but this is a big significant shift. Question is, how will this impact relations between our two countries . To examine that question, we are joined by timothy kane. At the hoover institute. Thank you for taking the time. Lets start with trade. At the top of my list. How does this hamper a possible new trade agreement between the us and the uk because i know the us still has dealings with other countries in the eu. I think it is really too soon to tell. It is easy to overreact and i think the markets have done that work the british pound lost about 10 of its value. And i think this might be a time to strengthen ties between the United States and not just Great Britain. We may see great written fracture. Scotland wants to stay in the eu and wells in england dont work so we may see Great Britain fracture in england and wales and scotland will all be looking to remain in strong ties with the United States. Maybe stronger than they are now so i think this could eventually be a win for britain as a whole and the United States, as well. The president is over there urging voters not to leave the eu. He actually brought his trade issue up and said this would put great written at the back of the line those were his comments. Do you think its going to have an impact question back it seems like it has the opposite effect. This is exactly what the vote was about we declared independence from Great Britain over 200 years ago. Great britain is trying to declare independence for itself. Right now, the us is the only superpower in the world. To have the president come over, his meddling they have put it over the edge. Again, nothing real changed. Factories are still there. Its psychology that we have to play with. And hopefully, this doesnt cause the world to dip into a recession. This boat came largely a referendum on immigration. Immigration when it comes to us politics, a hot topic. Especially with donald trump. How does this play out for us in the states when it comes to donald trump and Hillary Clintons campaign in november . That was unfortunate. I lead an effort on immigration. And i try to remind people, high skilled immigrants are good for the economy. Low skill, as well but theres this constant threat of stealing jobs, free trade is still in jobs. Historically, all those pressures have been there and they had never been true but they do drive a lot of fear. The british people felt like they cannot control their borders. In europe, the pressure of syria and the fear of islamic terrorism is real. And it was certainly a big part of what made people want to declare independence. How do you think the resignation of David Cameron is going to affect us and johnson could be the new Prime Minister. Most americans know him as the very noticeable london mayor here right . How is that going to change our relationship . I think hairstyles will definitely be changed over the next year. I dont know. I dont know british politics that well. I would remind folks. Im a veteran. We have thousands and thousands of american troops in britain, a longstanding alliance. We have fought world wars together so i think we will maintain a strong relationship no matter. You talk about a split. What about other countries in the eu. Do you see similar referendums coming up in the coming years . I think that is right. This is the first chapter and not the last chapter. I actually tweeted out last night your last night. Theres a lot of question about what kind of and no lines that should be and who should be members. And so, there will be a lot of rethinking about who is allowed in and more importantly, i think there may have been some regulatory overreach. If you can imagine, mexico and canada formed a union. And mexico city started issuing regulations that we all had to obey. Exactly expect we may take applause into how far they are reaching into other countries economies. An economist at the hoover institution. Thank you and have a great weekend. Coming up, a party bus full of teenagers drinking and taking drugs. Police have intervened and now the driver is in trouble. Next in the verdict. A beautiful friday afternoon. We are in the clear and temperatures, get ready for a big warmup as we head into your weekend. Coming up, the hottest day of the weekend. We will let you know how long the hot weather pattern remains in place. The city by the bay. Not so beautiful here. Its going to be a long commute. 33 teenagers, alcohol, pills, fake ids and one big party bus. Everyone on board apparently looking for a sixhour spend around town but when they got busted by police, the driver of the bus was the one arrested, charged in the range. Time for the verdict. Michael cardozo making his weekly stop. Lets talk about the charges. Felony child endangerment was dropped but this bus driver, several misdemeanors including misdemeanor possession of methamphetamines, carrying an open container in the drivers compartment. What do you think . I guess the question i would ask rhetorically is how would you like this guy driving your kids . Hes got math on board. Hes got an open container. And he has a knife. And we are talking about 33 3315 to 17yearolds that get on his bus. Is he going to tell us, gosh, i didnt see the cases. Who believes that. He turned his back. I dont know maybe you shouldnt because you have 15 and 17yearolds. He is responsible for them. Certainly, they will be facing a lot of business the teenager but the charter through the weight company. Know its got it going on. Its all about the bus driver taking the fall. He is taking the fall for what he is responsible for but keep in mind, that company is going to have to deal with california licensing. They were probably yank their license or at least restricted so theyre going to get hit with this. What about the parents in the case . How come no one is going after them. I know its the law. Do you think every parent of these kids did not know they were going on this bus . The you know what . They should of known. If they did know, they should of. One girl was cited. She had take id. These kids come from marin county. With that privilege comes responsibility. And that responsibility is taught by the parents. So my first question of the parents is, do you know where your kid was. I know they dont always tell the parents the truth but did they followup . What you mean, a sixhour cruise . And you think theres no booze is apparent . I also talked about this and they said, at least theyre not driving. Those types of parents scare me a little because agreed, at least they are not driving but do we condone them by saying, at least not at least they are not driving. They are 15 to 17yearolds. They make bad decisions. And i get to the driver and i think, methamphetamines on board . Think god somebody called. How many bus accidents do you see . Four years ago, we had the one down on 17 we have the girl fell out the door and the company was convicted because but in this case, it is different here he had the drugs, the open container. He is going to be held responsible. I would imagine the bus company will be held responsible. One of the teenagers at least will be held responsible. Now, what we look to are the parents. What are the parents going to do about it . I know that when i was growing up, i was afraid of my parents. To heck with what the police did to me. I was afraid to go home. At least you are driving. Ohlone. I know jerry hill is working on a lot of legislation. So we will follow that legislation as it makes its way through sacramento. Michael cardoza and that is this weeks edition of the verdict. We will send it back to you. We will send it down to mark for a look at that hot forecast. Temperatures are really soaring this weekend. Especially for the inland neighborhoods. Typically, a two or three day deal. But this hot weather pattern remains in place over the next few days. Especially away from the coastline. We actually have a storm to the north, to the pacific northwest. All of california is in the clear with the exception of patchy fog. As far as the current numbers out there statewide, there you go with sacramento checking in at 91 degrees. 70 in san diego and 68 degrees. The entire state will be warming up including the bay area work we have temperatures, the hotspots right around 90 degrees out toward concorde and fairfield your Half Moon Bay in the lower 60s. Mostly clear skies across a good portion of the region and next week, that is the headlines. Close to 100 degrees. Not much relief in sight. We are thinking especially for tuesday, wednesday and possibly, thursday of next week and this weekend, we are all heading in that direction. Lots of 50s out there. Partly cloudy skies and some patchy fog. Some patchy fog near the coast and possibly right around the bay. That is the key headline this weekend as this area of High Pressure builds in. This is key. This will generate the offshore winds. Not the case this weekend. You can see the beaches are mainly in the 60s and right around 70 degrees. Right around the 80s. Approaching 100 degrees. Heres our forecast model. We will put this into motion. There is not much in the way of fog. I did mention a few patches out there. All sorts of colors. Lots of red inland. That will spread to the mid90s by three or 4 oclock tomorrow afternoon. With a pride parade in San Francisco, 10 30. Patchy fog out there and right around 60 degrees. Along the parade route, mostly sunny skies. Temperatures around 70 degrees so its not going to be excessively hot. You could see lots of 90s tomorrow up toward santa rosa. Fairfield and vacaville. You definitely want to stay cool out there. Brickwood, 97 and oakland, the upper 70s. San jose, 87. San francisco pretty pleasant. 73 degrees and mainly in the 60s. Heres a look ahead at your five day forecast. Temperatures will warm up warm things up a little bit. I think that will be the hottest day inland took the heat will continue and we are adding triple digits to the maps tuesday and wednesday. Right around 100 degrees possibly. The bay, not as hot. 80s in the beaches and mid to upper 60s. Only in the bay area where you get all sorts of temperatures out there. You can take your pick. 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and even 100 degrees. A quick clarification. Its not really a heat wave when you have 60s on the coast. I guess inland could be talking about a heat wave but they are used to that this time of year. Thats when it feels really strange. That would be a heat wave. The technical explanation. It is time to get social and talk about the stories shared all over social media. The big story is breakfast in the United Kingdom. What is interesting in some of the Online Activity we are seeing that britain. Google is constantly trending search terms and today, these are the top questions being asked in the united condemned. For instance, what does it mean to leave the eu. What is the eu . That is crazy. Which countries are in the eu . What will happen now that weve left the eu . And how many countries are in the eu. Some are saying they should have done the searches before they actually went. Do you think . A big surprise on that boat. Also trending, other possible campaign names. Other countries trying to leave the eu. Some humorous ones. Some of them are more creative and funny. Very good. Very clever. This one was pretty easy. Simple. Right to the point and never mind. Is a whole list parents will do to get their children to settle down including taking out a fullpage ad to find a wife for your 48yearold son. How embarrassing is that . Apollo, a businessman did just that. Hes been 900 to print the add in a newspaper near his sons home. He says his son is looking for a woman between the ages of 34 and 38 years old and someone who would be willing to have children as soon as possible. Offering to pay round trip tickets to Salt Lake City to meet his son. The son says he had no idea about the ad. Maybe he is embracing it. Especially if it works out. I dont know your we need to ask our producer, would you respond like that . Back no way. Sorry. No charges for a former Police Officer seen on video pushing and holding down a teen age girl at an outofcontrol pool party. Police were called to a pool party in mckinney texas about a year ago. You can see the former officer shoving the 15yearold to the ground, then pulling out his gun. That officer has now avoided a criminal indictment. I think he had confidence in the system, and the system being the way it was investigated and the way it was probably examined by the district attorneys office. I think he had confidence. The victims attorney put out a statement saying shes not surprised by the lack of indictment saying we live in a time where Public Servants are not themselves required to uphold the very law that they are hired to enforce. That is it for us here on the four on 2. Time to bring in frank and keba. Great britain is out. 52 voted to leave the European Union. The vote had Immediate Impact on financial mark but experts tell us to wait it out. We also look at the parallels you can draw to our own president ial election. Im frank somerville. Are you wondering why you should care about the brexit vote . U. S. Stocks were hit hard today suffering their worst drop in 10 months, essentially wiping out 800 billion in market value. This video is sped up but notice that the dow dropped 500 points before falling 600 and the dow pretty much remained there for most of the day at that time closing bell the dow was down 611. The s p and nasdaq also dropped today and losses were similar in the u. K. Right now the European Union is made up of 28 countries shown here in gray with a gained population of more than 500 million people. The eu started in the early 1950s as an agreement between france, germany, and four other countries. The vote in the u. K. Was practically split fifty shades of grey and by region. Both england and wales voted to leave while scotland and Northern Ireland voted to stay. So how did it get to this . Ktvus Cristina Rendon is in the newsroom with more on the vote. Cristina. Reporter hey, frank. This move does fought take effect immediately. There has to be a formal and Legal Process for the United Kingdom to transition out of the eu, almost like a divorce. Just like a divorce a lot of people were divided on this issue, like you just said. So people would wanted to stay in the European Union believe that being a part of the eu would provide a stronger economy in the long run and they also fear that leaving would cause unemployment to rise. Right now people are able to live, work, and travel across board wears very few restrictions. But, on the other hand, people who felt it was time to leave the European Union wanted to take control of their own affairs. They felt the immigration and migrant issue hitting europe wasnt being controlled effectively. They also felt the trade agreements with the eu were not benefiting
@type":"Organization
archive.org
@type":"ImageObject
800
600
//ia800304.us.archive.org/10/items/KTVU_20160624_230000_KTVU_Fox_2_News_at_4pm/KTVU_20160624_230000_KTVU_Fox_2_News_at_4pm.thumbs/KTVU_20160624_230000_KTVU_Fox_2_News_at_4pm_000001.jpg
@type":"Organization
