President trump hosting the first world leader at the white house a visit by british Prime Minister teresa may reaffirming the relationship with the United States and united kingdom. President trump is not making friends with every world leader. In his first facetoface meeting with a Global Leader talked about the fight against isis with his british counterpart, Prime Minister teresa may. This was your choice of a question. There goes that relationship. President trump poking fun at teresa may for calling on a british reporter for questioning his more controversial stances in his techniques for fighting the global war on terror. I feel it does work. I have been open about that for a long period of time. But i am going with our leaders and we are going to win with or without. British Prime Minister teresa may only taking office this past jewelry placing David Cameron after the stunning brexit vote. We want to put the center of ordinary working people right up there on center stage. The American Press core seeming interested in President Trump relationship with another head of state. Mexicos nieto that despite canceling a visit spoke to mr. Trump by phone this morning. We had a talk that lasted for about an hour but the United States cannot continue to lose vast amounts of business. Vast amounts of companies and millions and millions of people losing their jobs. That wont happen with me. Tomorrow President Trump has a call with russias president villa nova saying today it is still too early to begin talking about lifting sanctions. Joe waldman. Fox news. More on na call between President Trump and russia president villa nova. White House Press Secretary sean spicer say they will speak tomorrow, this will be the first conversation between the president took office. Tensions between the u. S. And russia are at their highest in years. The Obama Administration accused the kremlin in an election and forced diplomats to leave the u. S. Nor more on the president s first week we are joined by joe gar ra fali. I want to start with President Trump and president nieto. Joe, it seems as though President Trump is aggressive, at least with mexico. How would you rate his diplomacy in the first week here . Well, still behaving as though he is in the Business World. Makes a strong first bet and has people kind of backing off on their heels and we will see what happens here. You know, basically this guy, it is his first week in office but trashing every norm that there has been for how a president behaves with other world leaders. You have a piece coming up this weekend in the chronicle on sunday. Basically talking about the orders and the memos that he has signed over this week and it has been very theatrical. Which one of these are more formalities in trying to point people in a direction but not necessarily holding any weight . Some of these are very theatrical like the Affordable Health care where he says it is directing folks, lead agencies to try to derail it. Thats really not going to do anything. You will have that will be an act of congress. The border wall, he wants to bill that. That will take Congress Acting or some way to get 14 Million Dollars at least to fund that. The one transpacific partnership, that was dead so again but what he is doing is appealing to his base and coming in and showing us action as general mattis said today but not doing anything. The thing to be concerned about are his orders on the border. And when he talks about and it is kind of buried in one of the sections there when he talks about which folks will be prioritized to be deported. The way the language is worded. It could be anyone in the country illegally. Talks about getting rid of the criminal folks, the folks that have committed crimes. But the way that it is phrased. That could mean crossing into this country is a crime so any one of the 11 Million People from what folks are telling me could be subject to be deported. The mayor of miami says that he is going to make some changes there and follow with donald trump in terms of the sanctuary city status of that city but california cities seem pretty united in Holding Ground and vowing to fight. What do you foresee happening on the sanctuary city issue. Along, long legal fight over this. And trump is no stranger to legal fights. That is what he operates. He like to tangle legally. The challenge here is that most of the time in the Business World he was the big dog. He came out and he was flustered and had the highest price lawyers and folks would bounce down. Now he is fighting other cities and hundreds others across the country. They will push back and it will be a long drawn out fight. Plus he has the Justice Department attorneys and some may not be enthusiastic about working for him here. So this is a different game than it was in the Business World for him. This is the politic and one of the many ways that is different from the world he came from. Thanks joe. We will look for your piece this week. Suicide net on the Golden Gate Bridge. Debate about the suicide barriers on the bridge and how effective they would be. As ktvus alex savage reports. How the project can move forward. This longawaited project will move forward. A big milestone and sadly just today there was a Suicide Attempt here on the Golden Gate Bridge. Police responded to that incident and Officials Say this makes this more important. There were two projects related to it an. The board paid 2 Million Dollars to the chp so the officers can close lanes of the bridge. Those suicide nets will be built 20 feet below the bridge walkways and extend 0 feet out acting as a deterrent for anybody thinking about taking their own life. It has taken us quite a while to start construction. Everyone is excited and eager to begin because we need to curb suicide and nothing will do that in the scale that is needed except for a physical deterrent. One of the people that spoke in todays Board Meeting was kim rene gambowa. Her 18yearold son decide ended his life by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge back in 2013. After his suicide, gambowa has pushed for suicide barriers hoping to prevent future tragedies. We just poured our energy and grief and did not want anybody else to have to go through what we have gone through and all of the survivors that we have met that have lost children and loved ones and family members, it just is like this needs to stop. The overall price tag for this project is 193 Million Dollars. A third of that will come from the bridge districts general fund and the rest will be paid for with state and federal money. This construction project will get under way this summer and last for four years. Now the traffic impact for commuters that use the Golden Gate Bridge should be minimal and this is a because most of the work is going to happen during the overnight hours. Near the Golden Gate Bridge, in morin county, alex savage fox 2 news. You can see what a Beautiful Day it was. The push for california to remove itself from the union takes another step forward. As for commuters in the east bay they have a different way to get to and from San Francisco. A new service between berkeley and the city. The first time in a decade new Ferry Service has come to the bay area. There is a ferry on thursday and friday with two trips in the morning and two in the evening. Buyers we spoke with are glad to have a new option. This idea of having one from berkeley is cool. A beautiful ride. Another private company call prop fs is planning to launch Ferry Service between the city and the east bay. There is no word on when that service will start. Another look at this. Gorgeous night or evening, afternoon, whatever you want to call it. I call it beautiful. Theres the Golden Gate Bridge and it is going to be thankfully a gorgeous weekend. I agree. Right on. Lots of sunshine. Temperatures trending up after the chilly mornings looking nice in the afternoon and so it seems like we appreciate the sunshine such more because january at least most of the month has been soggy and cold and windy out there. You see the main jet stream pattern and seas up to the north, 400 and five hundred miles to the south and west. Clears in the west coast and thats the pattern as we head in the weekend. No rain drops to worry about. You keep the umbrella at home and, in fact, temperatures for the afternoon hours, this afternoon if you are in the sunshine actually pleasant. We have concord at 60 degrees. San jose 59 and entrance 54 54 santa rosa 59 degrees. Nice condition on the water here and a few high clouds and a beautiful start for friday and the afternoon hours, nice as well. First thing tomorrow morning, fair skies. We could have patchy fog in napa and San Francisco 42 and san jose saturday in the mid 30s. Here is the plan in San Francisco with our sky cast. Mid40s and lots of sunshine throughout the afternoon hours by 12 00 into the upper 50s and then by 3 00 we will go with a temperature at 60s even approaching 61 degrees. In the week we will warm back up. A few more neighborhoods approaching the low 60s. Clouds on tuesday and eventually the clouds will produce rain drops to next week by thursday so we could be talking about a change in the overall weather pattern. A few days out but we got the timing right for this weekend. Lots of sunshine and temperatures warming up across a good portion of the bay. Coming up, a close look at the forecast highs for tomorrow and we will update that fiveday forecast. Oakland a fans get ready. Fan fest is less than 24 hours away and talking with sean dooley. You dont ,want to miss it. Baseball fans. Rejoice spring training next month and the oakland as had media day at the coliseum. A chance for the media and players catch up and talk about the upcoming season. The as had a tough 2015. The same was true for star reliever sean dolittle. The as will take on the angels of anaheim. A game that everyone is looking forward to. Look at this. Sean dolittle is with us. Thanks for joining us. Your health. Fans want to know are you one hundred percent in string training . I am. Working with our trainers and strength coaches and i feel good about where i am at. Off of the mound earlier this week and a couple of bullpen sessions scheduled for next week. You feel like yourself . I feel like myself. And happy with the progress that i have made this off season. The as are going to be picked last or down at the bottom. And the underdog role. You guys have a long history of starting a season with that underdog role and ending up on top of the playoffs. What is your take . I think it is important to embrace that role. Nobody is going to be talking about us that much. In a way that is good because we have a young team. A really good group of core guys young that got their feet wet and relatively unproven. The potential there though. And i think we added some key veterans signing this off season so i think it will help some of those young guys get acclimated and comfortable. Going out with being an underdog is something that we have strifed on in the past and i think it is important for us this year. What about veterans. The bullpen i feel like is stuck with pitchers. What is it like to be among talented pitchers there . It is good because i think we work well together. We feed off of each other. It is a selfless group that nobody cares too much about who is getting the credit or who each night a different guy is capable of stepping up and being that key go to guy for us. You look at the experience that so many of the guys have in the back end of the bullpen santiago casea. They have had success and a trickle down effect. The experience helps and not only bullpen but the whole team. The afans are hoping that they get a new ballpark and down by the water. Does that make a difference . Would that add anything from a players standpoint. I think it would be exciting. I love pitching in a coliseum. The way the ball deport undocumented carry at night and that tough territory. It is exciting to start hearing these renewed talks of a stadium. But at the end of the day the coliseum is our home for now and we think it provides kind of a unique homefield advantage for us. So we are keeping tabs on it for sure. Before that i want to ask joe thornton or brett burns here with the beard. I think i am going to trim it. We have video. Can you get that far . Maybe towards the end of the season, thats legit. Lumber jack. I love it. Sean dolittle good luck this year. We are all behind you. Ktvu is in oakland. We are a fans and we will be pulling for you. Thanks for coming in here. Fan fest this week. Jack London Square you will be there. Yes. Come out and say hi. Thanks, sean. The punishment for missing school in the south bay is changing.
