Acknowledged the complexities of government. We all learned a lot. We learned about loyalty. We learned about the vote getting processed. We learned a lot about some very archaic rules in the senate and in the house. So it has been certainly for me a very interesting experience. The Health Care Measure faced growing objections from conservative republicans and house members. A tough last for the president that has labeled himself a deal maker. Joe tell us what led to the failure and what comes next. We came really close today. But we came up short. House Speaker Paul Ryan just moments before the American Health care act was up for the vote stunning the political world by pulling it at the request of President Trump. We had no votes from the democrats. Negotiations between gop leaders and both conservative and moderate republicans continued to the 11th hour and beyond. Vice president mike pence canceling a preplanned trip instead racing to the capital to persuade his side to push the bill through. House Speaker Paul Ryan heading the other direction towards 1600 pennsylvania avenue. The powerful wisconsin congressman, the architect of the plan to repeal and replace obama care and the final Oval Office Meeting with President Trump. The worse is yet to come with obama care. I have been saying for the last yearandahalf that the best thing we can do politically speaking is let obama care explode. Democrats publicly pulling for failure of the bill since its introduction. In the end getting their wish. Today is a great day for our country. A victory, what happened on the floor is a victory for the American People. White House Press Secretary sean spicer telling reporters no matter the outcome the president left everything on the field. Joe waldman fox news. In ten minutes we will sit down with ktvu analyst brian sobel to break it down. Our weather, lets go outside. We got a live look. You can see the bay bridge and somewhere on the other side Treasure Island it is still raining a tad. Lets check in with Rosemary Orozco and find out how our weekend is shaping up. Saturday going to feel better than today. Especially if you like it dry and mild. Today you couldnt escape it if you are outdoors. Chances are you are wet giving you a look at Storm Tracker 2 where it is beginning to wind down and fairly heavy and steady as the band marched in the bay and you can see here light scattered showers over areas of the Santa Cruz Mountains. As we go in the east bay along the 880 union city, fremont seeing this. We got light rain. A wind advisory in place that has expired giving you a look in the sierra with the snow continues to fall and theres an advisory and that continues. The winter storm warning until tomorrow morning. If you are traveling up this evening be prepared for slick roads and Winter Travel with the winds and the snow falling you could have whiteout conditions to tomorrow morning along highway 50 and 880. We roll through the evening drive and we still have scattered showers. By 8 or 9 00 it tapers off and the evening continuing to dry out some. I think tomorrow morning we will wake up a few scattered showers but most of saturday we will be dry and hopefully suny, for sunday, another system approaching the bay to bring us rain. I will have a look at how much rain has fallen and what we can expect for the weekend coming up. Thank you, rosemary. What started off as drizzle turned to steady downpour along the north bay. Look at it coming down. One to three inches expected to hit the north bay. The storm much milder than the ones we faced in february. Crews found themselves once again taking steps to prevent the flooding and locals taking it in stride. We have had a drought for a long time. They tell us if we are having a drought i will say no way. I think your safe. The rain is expected to last the rest of the day with wet roads and high winds but as Rosemary Orozco said clouds and sunshine. To the south bay where trace amounts during the day may indicate residents dashed a bullet but they are out of the woods. Jesse gary will tell us what the water levels are looking like. Reporter last time i was here you can remember this reservoir was full, boy and i can tell you you can see a dramatic drop in the water levels. Look out how far it has gone down. Why it is so much lower. About 3200 gallons of water per second being released at the bottom of the dam. The water flowing in the coyote creek and not going to the spill way. We checked in with city officials and say light rain has not toppled trees. San jose crews have respond to a few small branches knocked down and tree limbs here and there and nothing of note per se. They say at the worst rain over the next several days could, could push this level in the dam from the current 85 back up into the 90s but thats less than it used to be. We were at one hundred percent and worried that this dam that is not seismically retrofitted could fail if there is an earthquake and they are trying to get it from one hundred percent down to 68 . Right now it is 85 and if there is the substantive rain over the next couple of days today and over the weekend, maybe it will go back in the 90s but at this point it doesnt seem like it will. The sun trying to peek throughout clouds. The heavy rain in the south bay has not materialized. Kind of a mist and drizzle here and there and not a real heavy rain and thats good news because they are trying to get this all the way back down to 68 . Right now at 85 . Live in anderson reservoir. Jesse gary ktvu fox 2 news. A lot of people relieved that they missed the rain. Thank you so much, jesse. The step forward that may keep it around for years to come. Much more, the president pulling his Health Care Bill off of the house floor. Brian sobel weighing in when the four on two returns. More on the top story. The president pulling his Health Care Bill off the table. The votes were not just there. With more on that lets welcome political analyst brian sobel. How are you . Good to see you, frank. A piece of humble pie for the president. A tough day for the president. Also a tough day for the Speaker Paul Ryan. Yes, indeed and what is interesting, democrats said look what we did and ultimately it was the people in the president s own party. It had nothing to do with the democrats because not one democrat was going to vote for it or against it. All would have voted against it but not one for it. And with President Trump and paul ryan were able to do is bring the members of congress primarily and the freedom cause cuss we are hearing words that there were 200 votes and needed 216. He was shy 216. Yes. Interesting. The democrats will oppose him one way or the other but people in his own party. He has to bring them to the table. I have been saying anybody thinks that Democrat Party are these one size fit all parties dont really understand what is going on in washington. All of the people have to go back and talk to their own constituents. Some are in modern districts. An that tells you when they go back they have Different Things they have to say to these people so they wont vote as people predict. And business versus politics. Is there a Lesson Learned by the president. I think what he is learning is that there is three branches of government and he has been shut down by the General Branch now on immigration. You have what is gone on in progress and what he has learned around politics is that there are three branches of government, thats the way it works and you can have an opinion but you got to go sell it to other opinion. And do you think the president might soften his tomorrow on tone down the road. I think the American People think he would to pursue his agenda that includes tax reform that may be longer hanger fruit. A lot more republicans would be for that and so to tackle the Affordable Health care Health Care Act we are hearing whispers out of washington d. C. That the president may not have wanted to do that as the first thing to tackle and paul ryan very much after 7 years wanted to see that right out of the gate. Absolutely. And what is next for the Health Care Bill . That was his baby all through the campaign. The first thing i will do when i get into office and obama care is here to stay for a while. It is. Whether they will get back to it in 2017 is maybe doubtful at this hour. But they do have a bill and reform in the mix. We will see whether they have the energy to bring it back. This is a stinging defeat for the president and members of congress for the leadership of congress on the republican side but not for some of the real conservative numbers this bill did not tackle the important reforms. How does the president go to the conservative republicans. They have to say this bill will include elements like tort reform, a real plan Prescription Drug reduction in pricing and all things have to be in that new bill that conservatives were wered about tackling things like the the deductibles and the pricing structure. Brian, thanks for your insight. Cristina. That is not sitting well with democrats and some republicans on the committee who have questioned nunezs impartiality after he briefed President Trump on new evidence before sharing it with his colleagues. There must have been a strong push back from the nature of mondays hearing. It is hard to come to any conclusion. Meanwhile the House Intelligence Committee is continuing to push back against President Trumps allegations that president obama illegally wiretapped him.
