Reporter you can see theres a crew boarding up those glass windows that were broken. Its unclear when the gym is going to be reopened. They did order the woman no longer to drive and they will be suspending her license. John, what about the other people who are injured . Are they all okay . That makes the valley fire the third most destructive fire in california history. Its burned more than 75,000 acres and is now 75 contained. And mandatory evacuations are still in effect for some locations. Even so the Evacuation Center in calistoga which has been home to thousands is set to close this week. Tom vacar spent the day looking at whats next for all of those people forced from their neighborhoods by the fire. Tom. Reporter frank, its interesting. People love the rural life here. Reporter Daniel Fletcher and her boyfriend were already homeless and camping out near cob when the fire caused her to flee for her life ending up here at the evacuee camp with absolutely nothing. I think its going to be very difficult because we already have low rentals. Reporter theres only 42 foreclosures in all of lake county and just a meager 13 in the fire area that includes middle town, Hidden Valley lake and cobb. Its a very Small Community and its mostly Single Family homes. Some duplexes and very small amount of apartments. Reporter so Danielle Fletcher may be hoping against hope. Theres nothing you can plan. Im learning to follow faith a lot more. Reporter and the rebuilding has just begin. I would say expect at least two years. One to two years. Even before this fire storm started apartments were already a precious commodity, virtually everyone rented. Now anything will be helpful. I know that evacuation there at the Evacuation Center in calistoga is helping but theres still a lot of people who have nowhere to go. If that was the case why would they close that Evacuation Center . I know they cant keep it opened forever but why close it now. I was down there at 6 00. We have a report that talks more about that. There were only 100 to 150 people. A lot of them left because they knew they were closing. Theres only about 100 people down there right now. All of that aid and assistance is now being moved up here so people can be closer to where they live and if they have to camp out they can camp out here just as easily as they camp down there. But therell be a lot more aid and assistance for them. Thats exactly why its closed because its better if youre going to do this to do it much closer to the home that you want to rebuild. Makes total sense to me. Tom, thank you. Several supervisors says making bicyclists come to a complete stop at stop signs doesnt make any sense. The law would make ticketing the lowest enforcement priority for San Francisco police. Although dangerous or Reckless Bike riding would still be subject to a possible ticket. But if you are coming to a slow cautious near stop and entering an intersection where youre not violating anyones right of way, not doing anything thats dangerous, that is okay. Cyclists say that stopping isnt always safe or practical when theyre navigating around cars. The first hearing before a Supervisor Committee is expected in about a month and a half. Authorities say he opened fire on a chp officer who tried to take him into custody. The officer wasnt hit but a bullet struck a passing car. Except hes using real bullets and it has real consequences and you dont get to push the reset button. Reporter the man who died this morning was clearly desperate to get away. But when it comes to the canonization of serra they could not be more different. Reporter checheno the tongue of his native tribe. Medina works as a curator at Mission Dolores who serra founded. He is against the pope canonization of serra. People were treated on subhuman levels. They were whipped if they spoke their language. They were put in shackles if they tried to run away. I believe serra was a very, very good person. In a very, very bad situation which we call colonialism. Nobody denies that life in a California Mission for most native peoples was an unmitigated disaster. Reporter serra founded Nine Missions stretching from san diego to San Francisco. He hopes convert near by indians into christians but he also forced them to work in the missions under atrocious cramped conditions. The only thing i can salvage is the faith that my family practices to this day. And serra is that person who brought the good to this place. Reporter for medina to make serra is saint is to justify and wash the churchs rule of colonization. The idea of one group trying to strip away another group of their culture and identity just doesnt make sense. Reporter today the iloni tribe which stretches to vallejo and livermore consists of 5,000 people. We come from strong people who left us enough to be able to reclaim what was taken. Medina has been asked to do a reading at the popes mass in checheno. Its a proud moment for medina and estimated half a Million People will be tuning in. The most who will ever hear the language nearly forgotten but not lost. Im going there to show that iloni people are present. That were part of this patch work of society. That were a vibrant people today in 2015. That we carry on the ways of our ancestors and we bring that dignity with us as well. So while the canonization is seen as a set back for the iloni tribe, this reading tomorrow is a step forward. A step in the right direction. And we know that about 15 members of the iloni tribe will be sitting at the front row of the popes mass. And afterward theyll be having a meeting with them. Medina said despite this canonization says this pope is his personal hero. He says this is the pope who teaches tolerance and forgiveness so hes very excited to meet him. An awful lot of people are, tara. I know on your flight to washington, d. C. Today you shared it with some people from right here in the bay area. Thats right. This pope has 85 approval rate which is really huge because Pope Benedict had fallen only to a 40 approval rating. So right now catholics say they are excited about this pope and pope francis as we know is being called the peoples pope. Back to you. Looking forward to your reports out there tara, thank you.
