Now 45 dogs and more than half the canine population of the shelter are in quarantine. 12 of them are considered at high risk for infection. And so how it has gone from these puppies from the kennel to other dogs and other kennels, we are trying to figure out. Since the outbreak the shelter has done special cleaning. Every kennel wall, floor and the offices have been bleached. The adoptable dogs have not tested positive and we will continue to test in the area of strays that we are worried about. The shelters awaiting test results on 14 dogs. Not adopting out any animals until it is convinced the outbreak is over. Parvo virus can be passed on to humans. Attacks a gastro intestinal system and can be fatal. We dont the vaccination history on some. The shelter is reviewing how it separates its dogs to prevent an outbreak from happening again.
