The 195nation pack. For trump now to go awol is a tragedy. Its certainly not well thought out. Reporter abroad, china, germany, and russia all failing to persuade the president that the agreement is right for the world. The vatican calling it, quote, a huge slap in the face. The only voices that are saying pull out are a handful of Call Companies and right now the head of the u. S. Environmental protection agency, which is an incredibly irony. Reporter but some are praising the decision saying it keeps trumps pledge, america first. There have been estimates from independent third parties that say that we could lose over 6 million jobs, and its just not fair. Reporter president obama reacted saying tin absence of American Leadership he is confident states, cities, and governments will step up. He long music, the founder of tesla, announced that as promised he will stop advising President Trump following the withdrawal from the accord. He is part of the manufacturing jobs initiative. Today he tweeted, quote, am departing president ial counsel. Climate change is real. Leaving paris is not good for america or the world. And were following another big story out of the nations capital. Former fbi director james comey will testify one week from today. Comeys highly anticipated testimony could shed light on his private conversations with President Trump in the weeks before his dismissal. It could also provide new information about possible ties between the Trump Campaign and russia during the election. Meantime, Hillary Clinton is now pointing a finger of blame directly at comey for her defeat last november. So for whatever reason, and i speculate, but i cant look inside the guys mind, you know, he dumps that on me on october 28th, and i immediately start falling. The Committee Says comey will testify before an open session in the morning, followed by a closed session in the afternoon. Lots of headlines surrounding the Trump Administration tonight. Joining us now, political analyst brian sobel. Today President Trump fulfilled one of his campaign promises. He said he was elected to represent the people of pittsburgh, not the people of paris. What is your reaction . Well, he did just that, but what he also did is remove the United States from an agreement that is enjoined by 195 countries. But he also, i think, set up by saying it was done for jobs, and it was done to retain jobs in the United States, and because this is a nonbinding agreement, that really doesnt hold any country to doing anything. Its a voluntary thing. And he is saying we can do a better job essentially right here. But he is also saying he wants to renegotiate. Yet today italy, germany, and a france came out and said in a joint statement there will be no renegotiation. Thats the initial reaction. Youve got very upset people would lobbied him very hard overseas. And he took a different decision. If this is going to be an important place for america to be, believe me, those other countries will figure out how to renegotiate the deal. But i think what people are missing here are the details of the paris accord. It wasnt a treaty. It is a voluntary thing. Countries like china, for example, werent even going to start really being a player in this until 2030. I mean, its years away. We cant even withdraw from this accord for four years. So there is a lot of details. People arent following them here. The presumption is that, by some people, that by pulling out, that means we are going to be, you know, a polluting country and that sort of thing. And were moving towards cleaner energy and a lot of other things. The reality is that optically this wasnt the right thing to do, but when you get down to the details, thats where the rubber meets the road. Because there really is a lot of criticism. The head of green peace came out and criticized the president. But the stock market reached record highs today following the announcement. What do you think this will do for our economy . Well, i think it will give at bump, but not necessarily because it is doing anything practically on the ground. I guess thats my whole comment. The more you read about the accord and some of us have been following it for a number of years, you realize that, you know, as an example, china, india, these other countries had Gross National product goals they had to meet, and theyre far away from them. So the largest polluter on earth, china, isnt going to fix anything initially. And then you look at the end goals for this, julie, and you find out that from a heat and earth temper speckive, all that were doing is just going to reduce the Global Warming by just a slight amount, and we are, again, as a country, moving in a different direction. James comey, former fbi director has agreed to testify one week from today. The morning will be closed session, or it will be open, and then it will be closed. What do you think we will learn from that . He will be coached. And i think he will be pressed hard about what he said before and whether he has changed the story now. But what comes in the closed briefing will be pretty interesting. And the way washington is working these days, well probably know everything about that in 15 minutes. Yeah, leaks probably. How scared do you think President Trump, or do you think he is scared of what james comey might say . If hes guilty, hes probably very afraid. But guilty of what . You know, he had every right to say, hey, you know, i have looked at the circumstances, i would be appreciative if you backed o. Thats not illegal. Would would be illegal is if he ordered him or intimidated him by saying, hey, if you want to remain fbi director, this thing better stop. We will find out one week from today. Brian, thank you. You are very welcome. Now to breaking news unsanta clara county where weve learned the verdicts in the case of three sheriffs deputies charged with murder of an a inmate. All three have been found guilty. Jesse gary was inside the courtroom as the jury read that verdict aloud. Jesse. Reporter guys, the District Attorney says it is a sad day when those sworn to uphold the law break it in such a brazen way. Those verdicts were read inside department 31 of the courthouse. The courtroom was silent, and then tears. The three are all guilty. The jury agreed with the prosecutor. The injuries inflicted were so severe that tyree died. Attorneys argued that he had climbed up on his cell toilet and fallen. We hear reaction, first from the District Attorney, and then from the sheriff. We stand here because three men whose very job it was to protect him treated Michael Tyree as something nameless, and they beat and killed him as though he were worthless and nameless. The jurys verdict treated this jail not just as the grim setting for a murder, but as an important societal institution whose employees share a mission of protection of those outside of it as well as those housed within it. The acts carried out by these three individuals have tarnished the reputation of this profession and of our entire agency. Reporter all three defendants were cuffed. They are now being held by the very same agency they used to work for. As they left their family yelled at them to be strong. The penalty for this is 15 years to life. They have to serve at least 15 before they can be eligible for parole. Their sentencing will take place on september 1st. Says they will meet and decide how they want to proceed if they want to retry those two counts, counts two and three, for the beating of inmate villa who testified against the three deputies who ultimately were convicted of killing michael tire real. Were live outside the courthouse here in san jose, jesse gary, ktvu fox 2 news. Jesse, it is not every day that you see three sheriffs deputies convicted on Second Degree murder charges. Im just curious, what was it like in the courtroom as the jury came out and read that verdict . Reporter it was emotional on both sides of the fence. You had Michael Tyrees family, the family for the three accused who are now convicted hoping there would be a not guilty verdict, and there wasnt. There were tears and crying and shaking, so it was very emotional. These three men were all free up until that point, and then the judge ordered them to be remanded into the custody of the sheriff, and thats when the handcuffs went on them, and now they are being held by the same agency that they used to work for. Theyre the ones that used to take people in custody. Now theyre in custody and will be for at least 15 years. Do we know where they will spend time behind bars . Reporter julie, i dont know where. I do know it wont be here where they used to work. Thats for sure. But im not sure exactly which facility they will take them to next. Will they likely separate them or keep them together and isolate them possibly . Reporter yeah, they could. It could go either way, julie. Theyre not expecting a prison break, but they could isolate them. I think right now when they took them out of the courtroom they took them together. Theyre together right now. Whether they will remain that way remains to be seen. Jesse gary in the south bay, thank you. A preliminary hearing got underway for a former Oakland Police officer accused of tipping off a prostitute to police stings in exchange for a sexual favor. Ryan walterhouse is accused of paying 200 to a prostitute and warning her twice about undercover prostitution stings. Cameras were not allowed in the courtroom. A judge will determine whether there is enough to go to trial. The former officers attorney, michael cardoza, who also works for us, says the d. A. Is singling out his client for prosecution. They would not do this to anybody else in this county. A police officer, they do it. So he is being punished becks a police officer. They should leave discipline to opd with him and not take, as i say, a misdemeanor and make it a felony by charging a conspiracy. We should point out this case is not tied to jasmine abuslin, the young woman formerly known as celeste guap. She was the 19yearold former prostitute at the center of a Bay Area Police sex scandal. She just agreed yesterday to accept the city of oaklands settlement offer of nearly a million dollars. Students marched to a School Board Meeting in the east bay.
