There is a slight offshore component. Well go 80. Its already 59 in some areas. 37 in ukiah. 33 in clearlake. 28 in tahoe. Sunshine and warm temperatures win out and then cooler from the system coming in tomorrow. A lot of sunshine. Beach weather for maybe one more day. A lot of temperatures upper 70s or very low 80s. Its normal. Backed up for a 15, 20minute delay. Less if you are using some of the fasttrack lanes. Much less if you are in the carpool lane. Southbound 101 weve developed a problem at the south end of the city near cesar chavez. And the problem is its a crash, but its on the northbound side. However, southbound traffic is slowing to take a look at this. You know how the freeway is there. Its going to be affecting traffic. I do see police cars trying to get through this area here. During the 10 00 news last night, the federal mediator came out to make an announcement. Frightening moments for a Pleasant Hill family whose house caught on fire. Small explosions were seen from their cars as the flames spread to their driveway. Janine de la vega is live in Pleasant Hill to describe what happened and how the ferry is doing this morning. Janine . Reporter brian, the family is safe. They were able to escape but here you could see a lot of the damage that was left behind. Starting with two cars parked out front. This mercedes and land rover. They went up in flames. And then if you take a look, they were parked there right in front of the house here. The garage also went up in flames. Those were the explosions heard shortly after 1 30 on dove court in Pleasant Hill when the house caught fire. Flames were shooting in the air. A father, mother and their young daughter were sleeping inside. They smelled smoke. The husband went to investigate and found the fire from the garage in the garage. The family ran outside and were unharmed. Firefighters arrived and knocked down the flames in a half an hour. During the flames, explosions went off. The explosions were caused by the exposures of the vehicles driveways. The tires made it sound like explosions to nearby bystanders. Reporter firefighters say the fire caused power lines to come down and sparks were scene. There is a broken gas main on the side of the house. Pg e responded. The gas and electricity are off at the house. While the brunt of the house is the garage and attic, the main house is unlivable because of the house and smoke damage inside. Firefighters are still investigating a cause. Back out here live, i want to show you to the left of the house there, there is a fence. But its completely burned down. On the other side is an apartment complex. Firefighters were standing on the other side of it guarding that apartment complex. But you can see a lot of this devastating damage out in front of the house, a big pile of debris. Thats actually insulation that firefighters pulled out of the house that was highly flammable. There was concern that it was going to sphark back up. But firefighters have left at this point. The family, were told, is getting help from the red cross as far as shelter goes. The investigation surrounding her death at sf general has led to new safety precautions. The chronicle reports stairwell alarms at the hospital must be manually turned off once they go off. Its believed she entered a door that may have shut off the alarm automatically. Patient disappearances from sf general, it turns out, are common. 96 people have left the hospital without telling it staff since january. Thats according to the examiner. The office of statewide health and developing says 38,000 california hospital patients left early or without telling staff. But sf general says spaldings case is unprecedented. A san jose father is desperately searching for his missing girl. 16yearold madeline dorsech and her 13yearold sister emily disappeared thursday night after a Church Service at delmar high school. Their family has started a took page and passed out fliers with volunteers. I dont know where they are. I dont know who they are with. And i just i want them home. I want them safe. He says the girls have never run away or goon missing before. Search gone missing before. Searchers are checking Shopping Centers and transit stations. The girls mother has come in from pismo beach to help. Were learning about a disturbing new Health Threat tied to a salmonella outbreak. The city of fremont is set to revisit a Controversial Program next year. Fremont police operate one surveillance camera on central but the department wants to use federal grant money to expand the program to 20 cameras. Privacy advocates are worried about the department is saying maintaining privacy is a priority. Chp is reporting its southbound one near 28 101 near 280. They reported a minor crash northbound 101. Some people say both of them are southbound. Chp says theres one northbound as well. Were getting conflicting details. There could be more than one crash. But the main one, southbound 101 near 28 blocking 280 blocking several lanes. That one is making a mess out of traffic. Alternate route, 280 to get out of this mess. Were get reeg actions from passengers on a frightening flight from dallas to atlanta. And engine on a Spirit Airlines jet burst into flames minutes after takeoff prompting an emergency landing. The plane started to shake violently. After that, the plane started to fill up with smoke. All of the vents on the side of the aircraft was pouring smoke. Before you knew it, you couldnt see. And thats when everyone got scared. You are looking at video shot by a passenger. It appears to be smoky inside the cabin after the incident yesterday. The smokesperson with spirit confirmed there was smoke in the cabin. The plane was able to return to dallas. Starting tomorrow, most workers at the Lawrence Livermore lab are being furloughed because of the Government Shutdown. The lab is one of the largest employers in the east bay. So the slud affects not only the 6,000 employees but so the shutdown affects not own lynn the not only the 6,000 employees but the businesses nearby. An event is planned today to inform the public about nexts bike sharing program. Back in august, the city added 350 bikes and a dozen bike sharing stations downtown. Now there are plans to expand the program to other neighborhoods. The informational meeting takes place at the ta takes place at 5 15. Lets go to sal. Whats going on with 101 . Southbound, still slow as you leave San Francisco and head south. There have theres been more than one crash. But the main one was southbound 101 at 280. There are a couple of other crashes that were minor. It could have been in the backup there. But the main one is still blocking lanes. You can see traffic is at a standstill recommending that you dont use 101. The only problem, you are going to start to see a backup on the skyway westbound and also a backup on the bay bridge. Why . Because the skyway comes off the bay bridge. If the bridge starts to crowd, they will starts to get crowded, they will these things have a chainreaction effect. B. A. R. T.
