Good morning. Welcome to mornings on 2. These are live pictures from the corner of fillmore and jackson in San Francisco, where an earlymorning smashandgrab robbery sparked a chase through the city. The thieves ripped an atm off the wall that sparked the chase in the wrong direction. A lot of dramatic events in that story. Well have details coming up. Good morning. Im tori campbell. The morning low, especially down towards san jose and points south are warmer due to the cloud cover. Sun and clouds. It will be cooler on these afternoon temperatures and then turning cloudy from the north. The wind picks up tomorrow. Tomorrow will be windy and keerl and cooler. Had light rain down towards watsonville and monterey. Partly cloudy, partly sunny. 30s, 40s. 39, half moon bay. 36 at napa. 46 San Francisco. Its still cold for some especially if you have clearing taking place. Wind advisory starts in the north and east bay hills. The cloud cover will move to the south. We had an earlier crash on 880 northbound near downtown. The crash is clear. It cleared about 10, 15 minutes ago. But traffic is still slow from just north of the coliseum. I would still advise using 580 for the time being as that earlier heldup traffic clears out. Lets go back to the desk. Thank you, sal. One person has been detained after a dramatic atm theft in San Francisco. Ktvu channel 2 reporter Paul Chambers has been live at the scene of fillmore and jackson since this morning and has more on the wild chase and the atm being recovered. Reporter good morning. There was a lot of debris behind us. The owners cleaned up most of it. I spoke to the owner. He said he will have someone come check out the pole to make sure its stable. Its all happening here at thent intersection of jackson and fillmore. Police say this started around 3 30 this witnesses. Thats when witnesses saw two men inside a white van trying to take the atm. Were told the suspects tried using a chain to rip the machine from a pole. People living in the area say the noise was so loud it wok them. We spoke with the witness about the crime. They like frontended it until the thing was over on the side. Pulled the van up to the front, threw the machine in the back and then drove off. Reporter police found the van with the atm inside here at 19th and missouri. But before ending up there, police say that two criminals left the original scene, drove the van with the atm inside it across the bay bridge. For some unknown reason stopped at treasure island. Police say while over on t. I. , the suspects ran into more officers. The criminals led those officers on a chase going the wrong way on the bay bridge. Again, in the pore trer row potrero hill neighborhood. I asked the owner about the atm, if he will get a new one. He said at this point, its unclear. He is not the one servicing. Traffic investigators in oakland are trying to sort through a grisly crash in which a big rig ran over and killed a bicyclist. Police say the 62yearold victim was hit at fifth and Market Street with her bike torn apart and wedged into the back of the truck. One witness called 911 after hearing the sound of metal scraping on the street and realizing what had happened. Officers eventually stopped the big rig a few blocks away with a crumbled bike still longed beneath it lodged beneath it. I dont think the witnesses saw when the actual point of impact happened. They just saw when the victim was being drug underneath the truck. The bicyclist wore a helmet and had flashing lights on her backpack and bike. The big rig belongs to alegry trucking. Investigators are trying to figure out if they need to seek criminal charges or if it was a terrible dent. In other news a 650 million megamillions Lottery Ticket was purchased in san jose. Now, the person who actually bought the Winning Ticket, they havent come forward yet. We dont know if its a he, or a she, or if they know they won. That person had a 1 in 259 million chance of winning. They beat the odds. The owner of the store received a phone call from lottery officials telling him that somebody hit all five numbers and the meganumber. He was thrilled because he will receive around a Million Dollars for selling that ticket. Now, the jackpot was at 636 million. Its now estimated to be about 648 because of all of the sales. Thats the second highest Lottery Jackpot in history. Its amazing. My kids texted me and called me up last night. Reporter who do you feel for the owner . How exciting is this . So lucky. No one has been hurt. Still no official word on how the fire started. Caltrans has not decided whether to back a proposal to fence an area in San Mateo County to prevent cars from crashing into deer. The authors of the twoyear, 300,000 safety study want to build a 22mile stretch of fencing on both sides of interstate 280 between millbrae and woodside. Prosecutors say he was got into an argument with his wife last friday and tried to drive their car off the bridge. When it crashed into a barrier, he allegedly pulled his wife out of the car and tried to throw her over the railing. Other drivers who stopped, grab the womans legs and pulled her to safety. 7 16. The decomposed corpse was found near lemon and derr streets and there were wounds on the skull. The victim was a latino man between 30 and 50 years old e was about 56 to 510, was wearing dennison jeans and a dark, extra large t made large tshirt made by the company gunit. A house on twin peaks that partially collapsed, its been red tagged, meaning it is unlivable. The owner has to decide if there decide if theres anything that can be salvaged out of it or if he can apply for an emergency demolition permit. The home collapsed late monday night. How are things moving on 880 . We had the crash for about an hour on 880 northbound in downtown oakland. But thats clear. The traffic is still a little bit slow. Its being to unwind as you can see, 880, just slower than it normally would be at this time driving past the coliseum heading up north. I would advise using 580 as an alternate route until this clears out a little bit. If you have the time to wait around, you might as well or use 580 if you are up near the hills, use highway 13 to 24 to 580. You know the drill. This is a look at the westbound bay bridge. As soon as the crash cleared up, the bay bridge started to fill up. Traffic is backed up for a 10, 15minute delay. Still getting lighter every day as we get closer to christmas.
