Alex savidge has been on that scene since 4 30 this morning. Alex you have more on what caused chp officers to open fire. Reporter well, good morning. Were waiting for more information from Oakland Police. That department will be investigating this shooting because it happened within the city limits. Even though this was the chp pursuit. At least one officer opened fire on the driver of a car who refused to pull over early this morning. You can see here several streets blocked off in this neighborhood near east 15th street and 57th avenue. The chp is not saying what condition that driver is in, but from newschopper2 you can see what appears to be a body under a tarp. This chase started just before 3 00. Near 580 and high street in oakland. According to an officer, the chp tried to stop the mans car because it didnt have any plates on it. The driver wouldnt pull over and then led two officers on a short case through the streets of oakland. This pursuit ended when that driver turned down a deadend street, stopped his car and jumped out. Thats when at least one officer opened fire. The chp wont say if the driver had a weapon of any kind. But were told no officers were murt during all of this. An alameda shooting team will be investigating here along with a chp shooting team.
