We are waking up with low clouds, patchy fog. Getting across the bay bridge. Tough visibility wise. This will burn away. We will be best with mostly sunny skies. Onto the numbers. Temperatures right now in the 50s and low 60s. We will continue to see is this as we get into the afternoon. The winds are on shore. Ten miles an hour in fairfield, five miamis an hour in concord a very light breeze out there. 63 right now in livermore. 61 concord. Low 60s oakland. Sfo checking in at 65. We have low clouds here. We will watch that to see if we can expect any delays for some of those arriving flights. Into the afternoon again mostly cloudy up the coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Into the evening hours we do have a little bit of cloud cover coming this way. It may even actually have a little bit of smoke coming our way back from the king fire. Shouldnt be a lot. We start with developing news where just hours ago a person walk agriculture long the received the road was hit and killed. We are live in South San Francisco for us with what she just learned about this deadly crash. Reporter investigators are trying to find out why this man was walking along the side of the road to begin with. We are in South San Francisco. You can see this is not the kind of road intended for pedestrians. There are no lights no, sidewalks, no crosswalks, there is a curve in the road and at 1 30 it was very dark out here a man in his late 20s was walking westbound in the eastbound lanes when he was struck and killed by a car. The chp said the victim had dark clothing and the driver didnt even know what he hit untillest he pulled over and called the police. Paramedics arrived were unable to reviv him. The chp said now they are trying to put together what happened here and find out why this man was walking on the side of this road. We will go back and try to speak to his family when its appropriate. Try to speak to co workers perhaps. Look and see if there is any reason he was maybe it was a shortcut for him. Reporter the chp said the driver involved in the crash was very cooperative. They dont believe the driver was at fault. At this point they believe it was an unfortunate accident. They would like any witnesses to come forward. They say if anyone driving in the area around one in this this morning saw the man they should give the chp and San Francisco a call. They would like anyone who may have seen anything related to this accident to contact them and help them with their investigation. Live in South San Francisco. There is a big detour for drivers in the north bay this weekend. Highway 37 which is the main road connecting several counties is closed in both directions until monday. Caltrans shut down the road between route 121 at the sonoma raceway and highway 29 at ten last night. They need the roads cleared while they do repaving work. Highway 37 is scheduled to reopen by five on monday morning. My gosh. I have to get up earlier. Deal with more traffic and then have to its just rearranging my schedule. We have to do the whole closure for safety for drivers and for workers. For cal tran workers. The road is set to be closed again for more work next weekend. The search continues for a missing santa rosa teenager last seen in her bedroom wednesday night. According to the 16yearold rebecca wevers family weever has never run away. There was a recent break up with a boy. They are concerned for her health because she takes medication for a medical condition and doesnt have her medication with her. She is 58, with long brown hair and hazle eyes. Anyone with information is asked to call Santa Rosa Police. A 60yearold is under arrest after a police stand off in oakland. Officers say that the woman barricaded herself in her apartment last night on west mcarthur. She had been in a dispute with her landlord. The s. W. A. T team and a Hostage Negotiator were called to the scene while some tenants were evacuated as a precaution. Berkeley police say a woman in her 70s is in critical after being assaulted. Just about a block away from the ashby bart station. They first down the woman yesterday about 4 30 in the afternoon at the enter next of otis and russell a man who was running away from that area was detained. He has not been arrested at this point but investigators say he does match witness descriptions of the person who assaulted the woman. We are investigating this as a felony assault. We are trying to put together what happened. How she was injured. What type of weapon was used. All of that eventually, hopefully the investigation will show. Investigators say that the attack may have happened inside a car. They are asking anyone with information to contact the Berkeley Police department. Authorities in el dorado are confirming several homes have been destroyed in the king fire. The fire burned more than 76,000 acres since it started last saturday. Right now its only about 10 contained. One couple said they havent been able to get into the burn zone to see their home but a neighbor said that some homes have been destroyed. Six were burned. Four were saved. One of the ones that burned took a house in between a lot of barns. The destroyed homes are north of highway 50 in a neighborhood called white meadow its. The Assessment Team is still trying to figure out the number of home that were lost. Its sickening. Its horrible and sickening. Its just horrible. The good news is that the king fire has not grown since yesterday morning. A photographer in the area shot this time l aps e video showing the cloud of smoke from the fire. He said the 15 minute time l aps e was shot on wednesday just before sunset. During its peak height the cloud of smoke could be seen from nearly 140 miles away. A record amount of fire retardant has been used to slow down the fire condition. Normal amounts arent enough to stop the fire. As of yesterday crews dropped more than a half million gallons of it on the flames. A man suspected of starting the kipping fire is scheduled to return to court. Wayne husband entered a plea of not guilty in a courtroom yesterday. Right now the charge is arson but more charges could be filed. The da said that more charges may depend on the number of homes lost. Again bringing in the possibility of that smoke. Earlier in the week the smoke was shifted this direction. We didnt see or smell much of it at all. For the time being today we are looking at that possibility a little bit of hazy sky coming our way. No advisory in place but something to be aware of. Especially if you have a little one maybe playing soccer outside later this mourninger into the afternoon and especially if you are going to the Central Valley and toward the sierra.
