Lets just say this morning, dave that 580 this morning through the Livermore Valley is certainly living up to the billing. As you can see, typical traffic here bumper to bumper slow and go really through castro valley. This is typical commute during the workweek but traffic experts say its only expected to get worse in the coming months and years. As we take a look at the map, they say these are the areas where the major choke points are for bay area commuters. We talked about the traffic coming in from tracy on 580 and 20 a. It remains heavy on 880 and highway 101 into san jose. Now, according to thement Transportation Commission according to the traffic commission, they say the corridor into the Livermore Valley could surpass i80. Experts say 80 has actually fallen about 5 although some may not have seen a difference. Traffic on highway 17, that commute from santa cruz into san jose has also dropped in recent years. But going back to the traffic on 580 coming in from 205. Experts say the traffic is related to job growth especially the dublin pleasant air pleasanton area. Some people have had. Some people always come late for job. Right there, vazquez, its more slow the traffic. Traffic is always screwed up because when you come over the hill from tracy, everything narrows down. Its always working on it. Theyve been working on it for years. I dont think they will ever finish it. If they could ever finish it, it would relieve the traffic. Reporter now, the other area where traffic is only expected to increase is along 101 from hollister and gilroy headed into san jose. Thats another choke point, according to experts. They point to home prices being relatively cheap there as a contributor to traffic. Westbound 580 going into the Livermore Valley area remains pretty heavy. Starting to pick up and commuters, in fact, the whole San Francisco bay area spending at least an extra nine hours more on bay area roadways. Thats compared to 2012. I believe 580 would be one of the worse commutes out there. Do you agree, sal . Yes. The Affordable Homes is whats driving people to live far away from the bay area. But its just adding to other problems. One of the biggest commutes weve had this morning is 580. That report is dead on. Lets take a look at some of these commutes as you drive through. You will see that the bay bridge toll plaza, which has always been kind of slow, is backed up for a 40, 45minute delay. You will see a lot of slow traffic on the bridge. Did you will be but it will be moderately heavy. Lets take a look at the commute here on 880. This commute doesnt get slow until 8 00. Southbound traffic is slowing as you head on down to fremont. 580 has been one of the worse commutes in a long time. This morning it was helped out by a crash thats been gone. Were taking a long drive to drive from grantline road to the 680. Give yourself extra time. It will be busy. The latest count is 56 minutes between grantline and the 680 interchange.
