At 4 33 lets go back to the deck. Oakland a new police chief takes over on monday. February 27th. Kirkpatrick met the bay area media for the first time yesterday. The 57yearold has been a police chief in three different cities in washington state, worked at the Chicago Police department and is known as a reformer. During a News Conference at city hall she rejected the suggestion that the Police Department is in shambles. I dont consider it a mess. Its an opportunity. Its all about going forward. Its about going from good to great. Ann kilpatrick is the reform minded leader that oakland has been searching for. She will become the First Female Police chief. She plans to live in the city. Two of her first goals, bridge the divide between the public and the Police Department and gain the trust of the rank and file. The Oakland PoliceOfficers Union release aid statement welcoming her. It said the hard working Police Officers look forward to working with the chief in serving the community. The chief wont have a lot time to adjust. She has a to deal with many issues from racial profiling public protests against the Police Department. Amber lee reports on the optimism with in oakland that the new police chief will bring change. South bay Authorities Say it could take days to figure out what caused a deadly crash involving a google bus and a pedestrian. It happened tuesday eveningon the campus of west valley college. A woman was walk across campus on her way to a bus stop. She was in the crosswalk when she was hit by the charter bus operated for google employees. The college said that google employees allowed to pay to park on campus and the bus is allowed to pick up those workers. Emergency crews say weather may be at least partly to blame. It was very rainy and windy at the time. Time frame wise crews got there with in minutes. They were able to get the her out from under the bus. The woman did not survive. Students we talked to said there is a the love traffic on campus but speeding is a problem. Investigators plan to talk to witnesses including people on the bus at the time of the crash. They are still cleaning up at San Franciscos hall of justice after raw sewage leaked down in to the offices of the da. The building also houses courtrooms, Police Bureaus and jail cells. Prosecutors say its the 5th time in 14 months that raw sewage has flooded the offices and the hallways. This time they say an inmate stop stuffed a towel into a toilet on the 7th floor causing the back up that leaked onto the third floor.
