Well, after clearly itching to get into the game, president obama hits the campaign trail today for Hillary Clinton. She and donald trump have their sites set on North Carolina which could prove to be a pivotal state this fall. Reporter doug luzader live in washington with the latest on the race for the white house. Good morning, doug. Good morning, lets talk about North Carolina. And why it is a pivotal state. This is a state reliably republican for years and years and in 2008 went to barack obama and it is a tossup. When you look at the real clear politics, average of polls in North Carolina, donald trump and Hillary Clinton are neck and neck. Hillary clinton and president obama have appeared together before. But not like today. As clinton hopes to draw upon the president s surging poll numbers. If you assume that this election is going to be a base election, which i think a lot of people do, for Hillary Clinton, to have him by her side, in North Carolina, and then through multiple appearances, through november, it is a Real Advantage for her. And clinton will get the full treatment. Including a ride on air force one. Donald trump, who is also going to be campaigning in North Carolina today, asked on twitter, why is president obama allowed to use air force one on the campaign trail with crooked hillary . She is flying with him tomorrow. Who pays . It is expected the Clinton Campaign will have to pay a portion of the travel costs while other expenses paid by taxpayers. President Obamas Justice department is in the process of deciding whether to charge clinton over her email use as secretary of state. And just last week, the clintons raised eyebrows after former president bill clinton met privately with attorney general Loretta Lynch ultimately responsible for making the decision. And just yesterday, the New York Times reported that sources close to the clint pes say that if miami becomes president , Loretta Lynch may be able to keep her job. When you get a line like that in the New York Times, you assume that it is a private signal that the clinton camp is sending to Loretta Lynch. Look, just back off. Let me get into the white house. And i will take care of you. Donald trump meantime is running out of time in terms of selecting a running mate. The Republican Convention is is less than two weeks away. A lot of name have been bandied about. Every from Newt Gingrich to chris christie. And iowa senator joanie ernst just met with donald trump. Entirely possible he picks someone we never thought of. We will continue to watch. This of course. 5 04 is the time. San jose police are investigating the death of an 18yearold man in an officer involved shooting. Thank you, sir. And you were off yesterday. Were you off yesterday . Yes, was. Did you enjoy yourself . Yes but everyone is back today. Thank you, sal. We do have some breaks in the low clouds. Still plenty there but it is not solid. There you go. You can see some of that. And in fact some areas on the coast, the low clouds have lifted enough. The water temperatures have warmed up a few degrees and that certainly helps and last week was a cold fongy week and slightly warmer temperatures. And a good push on the fog bank and a rather decent delta breeze. And 29, west at 36. West at napa. And south at santa rosa. This time of the year, that is a cooler direction for them. 50s for most. Low to mid60s for some. Mountain view in there. San jose is close. North bay temperatures, above calistoga, 49 cool degrees. Cool air aloft. That will help chew up the fog bank as well. And low 50s petaluma, and mill valley at 55. And bodega bay, cool and chilly 48 degrees. Up in truckee, 36. 59 in reno. And 53 ukia. Look at this, 45, for this time of the year. And a couple of systems will continue to work its way from the Pacific Northwest into Northern California throughout the week. And in fact, one of them might be strong enough, a couple of forecast models are hinting at some possible rain in Northern California. By the weekend. And we will see how that shapes up. Because usually, it is just this time of the year, it is not a rain pattern but a cooler and breezy pattern. It looks like a cooling trend this week, with mainly 80s inland and upper 70s and some 80s and the low clouds and fog look like they will burn off sooner and as we said breaks and holes in that, which translates into the 50s, 60s, and 70s and mainly just 80s, and cant find 100s and 90s to the sacramento valley, and low clouds, though, will be with us, and the temperatures, only 190 in the one 90 in the mix. In clear lake. 60s and 70s and 80s. A lot of 70s in areas that were much hotter than, that thats for sure. Last week. Still low to mid80s toward antioch and brentwood and upper 70s for some. And danville and concord as well. And 68 in berkeley. And south bay temperature, low, low 80s. And morgan hill to gilroy, and san jose at 78 degrees. And santa cruz at 68. And 60s op the coast. In the city. And 70s on the peninsula. And the extended outlook, it has kind of like an onhold pattern. A little cooler than the weekend. Keep an eye on the skies and see if the system does make it down with possible rain. Down to Sonoma County by saturday. Did you hear that, pam . Unbelievable. We will see. Nothing surprises me in weather anymore. I guess no. Nothing. Great weather. Thank you. Time now is 5 20. A change coming to some u. S.
