A worker who was killed yesterday while helping to remove a mud slide in the Santa Cruz Mountains is being remembered as a good family man. Thoorts set a dump truck authorities said a dump truck hit the worker. Graniterock said steven gill was a good worker. The other worker was taken to the hospital. Authorities have not identified the driver who was said to be distraught when the accident happened. Its been a tough week for people in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The gates here at this airport will remain open because of this ruling that is looks like President Donald Trump is going to fight. The decision is 30 pages long but it comes to this, the government has not shown that the executive order provides what due process requires. The court decided to uphold the stay on the travel ban. The president s response was almost immediate, see you in court, the security of our nation is at stake. Minutes later he spoke to reports. This is just a decision that came down but we are going to win the case. Reporter the court found that the ban may have been discriminatory. This is a victory for the state of washington. The ninth Circuit Court of appeals in a unanimous decision, granted everything that we sought. Reporter what is next for President Donald Trump . Does he go back to court to fight or go to the Supreme Court and risk a four to four tie. I think if they go to the Supreme Court they risk an adverse ruling. The city attorney, dennis herrera, is suing to ban the sale of high capacity magazines. He said that companies are selling the magazines, which are not allowed to be sold, in pieces. California law has banned the sale of large capacity magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition. A new state law bans people from having the magazines, the people that have them are required to turn them into police or store them out of state. The San FranciscoPolice Investigate a shooting yesterday on a muni light rail train, it happened just before 2 00 yesterday afternoon, two passengers started to fight, one pulled out a gun and started shooting. Both were taken to a hospital. They are expected to recover. The gun was recovered and investigators said they also have Surveillance Video from inside of the train. Bart approved a plan to remove 25 seats from its trains, that would create enough standing room for 14 more people per car. During commute hours, space is typically limited. Amber lee sat down with him. Reporter on this rainy gray day, mayor ed lee spoke about his long ties to chinatown and his optimism for improving the lives of immigrants. We spoke with him for an hour at a restaurant at the intersection at broadway and columbus. I feel so strongly about protecting our immigrant communities. The seattle graduated from uc berkeley with a law degree, he fought for the rights of immigrants and tenants in the face of racism and compleus. I wanted to use the law to open doors for people for whom the doors were not open. Reporter in chinatown, lee said he sees people who remind him of his family. The ability that my dad had to be able to raise a family of six being just a cook. Reporter the family lived in Public Housing, poor in material wealth but full of love. We learned to be humble with people that may have less, but we also learned to fight and survive at the same time. Reporter the mayor tells me his immigrant experience is a reminder of the work he knees to do to improve the lives of all immigrants. He is going to ren owe vait Public Housing and provide more affordable housing, as mayor, he said that the fun part of the job is participating in the chinese new years parade. We were curious about the tree behind the tree. We asked the crews out here but they said they are not sewer if there is any danger. Since we are not cheese, we have video we shot from earlier to give you a look at what the trees are dealing with, this is a pine tree. It lost all of its needles on its way down. It hit two cars, one of them is right in the front. Another is towards the back. It looked like it narrowly missed the houses. We also have video of crews restoring power in berkeley after a tree fell on the power lines, elsewhere pg e reported scattered outages in santa cruz in the mountains. Again, they are saying that it looks like this was a pine tree that came down. One worker told me that the tree appeared to be dead even before it fell. They have power restored to most of the area. When we woke up it was a lake out in front of the house and the streets. We could not get out into the street. A spill spillway at lakerra vil lake Lake Oroville has doubled in size, the department of Water Resources called it uncontrollable. The water would go down the hillside and take out trees and soil and create a mess. Officials are preparing for possible emergency evacuations if necessary. Crews are also taking out trees and brush in the area and trying to minimize how much debris would flow into the river. In the sierras, melting snow and heavy rain are causing problems in the sierras. 60 homes have flooded in lake tahoe and nearby communities. Piles of snow on the side of the reads are making the problem worse. There were some treacherous driving conditions on interstate 80 near donor summit last night. Several big rigs were blown over by strong winds. California Highway Patrol said the winds packed speeds of up to 90 Miles Per Hour and wind gusts in excess of 100 Miles Per Hour were recorded at squaw valley yesterday. Police are searching for a man that tried to lure a 15 Year Old Girl into his car two times last week. The girl said the stranger approached her and order her a ride wednesday and thursday morning in the area of beck avenue. She turned him down and reported him to the police. Yesterday she believes she was being followed. A santa clara sheriffs deputy and a search volunteer were the latest to testify in the trial for sierra lamars killer. They talked about her daily routine. Also a search manager told the jury that heavy rain hampered search dogs efforts to find the body . Antolin Garcia Torres is charged with the childs disappearance and murder. The defense is arguing that sierra lamar may be a run away since there was no body found.
