Cloudy and warmer. We are getting a southerly breeze south southeast. The cloud cover coming in, kevin, get your feet off the desk. [ applause ] he is a probably getting texts right now. Closely up in clear lake. Brr, is it february . No, its june uary. Irvin says he is in petaluma. Its smelling like petriclor out here in petaluma. There will be a quiz on monday. North bay light rain. Thats the main focus today. There will not be a lot south of that. There is not much up here. A lot of this is on the Russian River area. Cazadero. 06. We are not done yet. It will pick up late morning, early afternoon. Is an impressive this time of year. Southeast, southeast, east, southeast. The wind changes directions. Calm down. Thats why its warmer. 60 with you get the south breeze. Cloudy with light rain in the north. Look at that system. Its beautiful. Sal talks about he is a geek sometimes. I am a weather nerd when i see that. Thats just a beautiful thing. Right, sal. You know what i mean. Its like one nerd speaking to another. I am surprised you dont wear glasses. That would complete the whole thing. Hold on there. I will check you later. I cant wait. Lets take a look at the traffic which is going to be very slow on 880. We are going to start with traffic here. I was going to start with the east shore, but this is more important. Southbound 880 is slow all the way down to dakoto road. Traffic is going to be very slow as you drive through this area. And if you want to take an alternate route, mission boulevard is not that bad and you can get on the freeway afterwards. I want to mention the traffic on northbound 880 is unusually slow becausen an accident near dixon road. And going to the bay bridge toll plaza, if we can, the traffic is going to be okay if you are driving through the area. Its backed up for about a 20 minute delay. I do want to mention a tweet that was sent to steve and i. Please remind drivers that santa rosa is wet enough to spin out. A car on 101 just hit the wall. Steve and i are on it. Thank you, very much. That is from debbie. Debbie. Thank you. Debbie silva. Thank you, steve and debbie. I am reminding people to be careful out there. 7 03. Back to the desk. A developing story with the beleaguered Oakland Police department. For the third time in less than week, there is a new person in charleston. The mayor replaced the chief with ben farrow. He has been abruptly replaced by assistant chief paul fig. The mayor says she received information that caused her to lose confidence in fairow. I need to have absolute confidence as mayor that the leader of this department can be 100 effective at leading cultural change based on the allegations that we take seriously. She blames a rapid vetting process for not checking his background more clearly. They say there are clear signs of failed leadership within city government. The new chief says he is looking forward to making positive changes within the department. Acting chief Paul Figueroa rose to the ranks in 1991. There is some things that need to be addressed within the department. The next few days are critical for us. I am stabilizing and solidifying the daytoday operations for the department. The Oakland Police department has been under federal oversight for the last 13 years. The mayor told ktvu figueroa hasnt decide to apply for the permanent position. This is raising serious questions and doubts for many. Ktvu foxss christian kafton is at Oakland Police headquarters right now. You even ran into the new police chief just a couple of minutes ago . Reporter yeah, thats true. The new interim chief Paul Figueroa wasting no time getting to work early this morning. We saw him leave here from Police Headquarters a half hour ago. We were able to contact him briefly and ask him if we could have a moment of his time and he said he is, quote, booked solid today. Those in oakland looking at the department wondering where the Oakland Police department will go from here. Some in oakland are saying that with the constant changes at the top and the deepening sex scandal, thats causing them to wonder where the department is headed. The question on many oaklanders minds is who else is involved with this deepening sex scandal. I think that the Police Department, number one, needs stability. There has been a lack of stability. First we need stability. We need leadership. And we really need the police from top to bottom trying to work with the community to help manage the change along with the mayor, along with the city council. Reporter one of the comments we have heard this morning from people is they want to see whoever heads up the Oakland Police department, make sure that the department is in better communication with the community in yen. That is something we have heard through this morning and the day. We will follow on any developments on this story as the day develops. As you can imagine, this is going to continue to be a major story for some time to come. Its also becoming a National Story as well. Christian kafton, thank you. Meantime, ben fairow, he goes back to his old job with the bart Police Department. Last night bart police chief issued a statement saying he welcomes fairow back to the department and noted that, quote, he had a personal relationship with a consenting adult more than a decade ago, none of which precludes him from serving as a sworn Law Enforcement officer or as one of my deputy chiefs. And that scandal involving several east bay Law Enforcement workers and a teenage prostitute continues this morning. Four Alameda County deputies have been investigated and cleared of wrongdoing this in case. The richland Police Department say several of its officers are under investigation. One deputy is on administrative leave while the investigation continues. The San Francisco Police Department is also looking into the possibility of a connection to this east bay sex scandal. The San Francisco examiner reports the department is conducting a review to see if any of its staff had inappropriate contact with the victim tied to the east bay scandal. They emphasized they are currently not actively investigating any of their officers. President obama and Vice President Joe Biden Joe biden are traveling to orlando this morning. During their visit there they will meet privately with some of the families of the victims of the orlando nightclub attack. We are learning the gunman made facebook posts as sundays attack was unfolding. Jackie ibanez is following the developments. This was an act of violence born out of hate that inflicted terror on the entire community. I would call it a hate crime. Its terrorism. Reporter before and during sundays attack, omar mateen apparently posted online messages including, quote, you kill innocent women and children by doing u. S. Airstrikes. Now taste the Islamic State vengeance. This according to a u. S. Committee letter to facebook asking about mateens online activity. He also posted a pledge of loyalty to isis and threats of more attacks. Video of mateen has been found appearing in a documentary while working security at a bp Oil Spill Cleanup site in 2010. They want more disaster to happen because thats where their money making is. Reporter this as wakes are starting to be held for orlando victims. I am here with my significant other and with my daughter to stand for the family. Reporter while in washington, connecticut near chris murphy waged a nearby 15 hour filibuster demanding Congress Take up gun control legislation. To stand on this floor and talk about the need for this body to come together on keeping terrorists away from getting guns. Reporter murphy, a democrat, was joined by 39 senators, including two republicans. It ended with murphy saying he was given commitments for a path to get votes on the smith floor. On measures to expand background checks and keep people from terror watch lists from getting guns, this as president obama is set to visit orlando today where he will meet with victims, survivors and first responder. Jackie ibanez, fox news. The Supreme Court will decide whether to take up an assault weapons ban challenge four days after the deadliest mass shooting in u. S. History. A Gun Rights Group is challenging the connecticut law passed in 2013 four months after a gunman killed 26 students and Staff Members at sandy hook elementary in newtown, connecticut. But the Supreme Court hasnt overturned any state or municipal gun restrictions since the landmark 2008 decision. We are following developing news coming in from europe. There are new reports of a member of the British Parliament has been shot. Reports are saying lawmaker joe cox is at a hospital fear the city of leads. Reportedly, she is in critical condition, but her aide will only say she is injured. Witnesses say she had been meeting with constituents when she somehow got into an argument going on between two men. One man has been arrested. We are going to stay on this story, bring you updates through the morning as we get more information. Its 7 11. New information and new video of what windwhipped fire north of san bernardino. Overnight, the fire just ballooned in size. In 12 minutes, the evacuations now underway and the threat to an oil refinery. Plus, the Golden State Warriors just one win away from another championship, but they will need to get that win on the road in cleveland later on tonight. We will tell you why the team likes its chances heading into game six. Good morning, we are looking at a commute that has been a little bit slow in many areas. Sunshine here, but slow traffic coming up highway 17. South bay dealing with sun. North bays deal with some rain. Not a lot. There is a little. There is more on the way. Clouding up in between. We will have more on your thursday forecast. Sfx you hear that . Ing up thats the sound of our summer sale firing up its engines with fares as low as 69 dollars oneway. So get ready to take off. Because sale prices as low as these dont happen every day book your low fare now at southwest. Com low fares. Nothing to hide. Thats transfarency. Clap, clap, ding i wanted to show you this. This was one year ago today the Golden State Warriors celebrated an nba championship after winning game 6 of the nba finals in cleveland. Like it was yesterday. I know. A taste of victory still fresh this morning. Well, tonight they find themselves in a position to repeat under the same circumstances. They will be looking to clinch the title when they face off against the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight. And alex savidge, you are at oracle arena this morning. Even though this is a road game, they are going to be rocking at oracle . Reporter yeah, they will. And the warriors are hoping for a similar celebration exactly one year later. They could do it in similar fashion during game six. Obviously, this game tonight is being played on the road in cleveland. However, oracle arena here in oakland, it will be a busy place tonight. Thousands of warriors fans will be here for a big watch thats right will be happening. They are going to put the game up on the jumbotron. Of course, fans are hoping that they will have something to cheer about. More to cheer about than we did in game 5. The warriors up three games to two on the Cleveland Cavaliers. On monday night. Dubs, yeah, they lost game 5 at home. That was in part because Draymond Green was forced to sit out for that onegame suspension because he reached his flagrant foul limit in the playoffs. Draymond green, he will return for tonights game, and his teammates say that will make all the difference. Great addition having draymond back. He does everything for us. You know, we missed him last game, obviously. So thats going to uplift us. At the same time, we cant relax and let our guard down. We have to win the game and put in great effort. Reporter so Draymond Green returns for game 6 tonight, but the warriors will have to go without center andrew bogut. He suffered an injury to his knee monday night. Apparently he bruised the bone in his left knee. He will be out for the rest of the nba finals. And of course we touched on this a second ago. Today it is the exact anniversary of the Golden State Warriors clinching the 2013 2015 nba title. We hope they can do it in game 6 on the road in cleveland just like they did last year. And again we bring you back out here to a live picture of oracle arena. Even though the team is on the road. This place will be filled with loud warriors fans tonight for that big watch party. Now, i am told by the warriors the party is officially sold out. You have to get tickets to come inside. But there may be some Tickets Available on the resale websites. If you want to be down here for the party, check online. You might be able to find tickets. Hey, man, you know you are a good luck march madness for the warriors. You know youre a good luck charm for the warriors, right . Reporter we will see. I am going to be doing everything i can. Gasia, you said earlier this morning we all need to do exactly the same routine that we did on this day one year ago. Absolutely. Reporter i am going to try to remember what i cooked for dinner last year and what i drank. And the socks you wore. Everything. All right. Alex, thank you. Reporter i am going to fire up the laundry machine. Do the socks. We will get back to alex later. You warriors fans, you will have a chance to own a different kind of steph curry memorabilia. A mouthguard. One that steph actually chewed on during a game is going to be auctioned off. A fan found it on the floor near the warriors bench after a game this season. I am not kidding. The mouthguard has the warriors logo along with currys name and no. 30 on it. He says he goes through about 25 of those mouthguards during a season. Scp auction says the bidding on it will begin august 3rd. The auction house believes that mouthguard will fetch about, oh, 5,000. I dont doubt it. We heard of the five second you rule. This exceeds the five second rule. Sal, i cant imagine whoever wins that would put it in their own mouth, so its okay. Yeah. Lets see some of these commutes. We have some slow traffic building. We have had some tough commutes out there this morning, including 880. The bay bridge is, id say its normal. You are going to see slow traffic here as you drive into San Francisco. Its about a 20minute delay. If you are driving on interstate 880 in oakland, it is not a bad commute here right in front of oracle arena near where alex is right now. Traffic is moving along nicely in both directions. A little bit sticky northbound, but not as bad as it will be a little later on. Southbound though, that really has been our worst commute of the bay area. Its solid from 238 all the way down to the free month. We had some earlier issues to blame. The accident is gone. The slow traffic remains. 7 19. Lets go to steve in the weather center. Thank you, sir. We have two forecasts here. One south and one north. One south has more sun and some warmer temps. I would not be surprised for some midtoupper 70s. Northward its all about cloud cover and rain, especially in the north bay. About the golden state north. There might be some that filters south towards San Francisco, peninsula, oakland. But i tell you, the heaviest by far will be to the north. Brian sumner is up in the sierra. Non junelike temp. Darien says i woke up at 3 a. M. To a pouring rain. Now the sun is peeking through the clouds. There was a band that went through Mendocino County earlier. That looks like that has tapered off. It looked to be about the marin sonoma coast and east from there. North bay rain today. Looks like that system will filter in. That. 06inch in cazadero. Occidental, peta little bit. But bodega bay. Look where the line is. Do you see a Little Development taking place . In the last few frames, zip, right there. Thats moving in, again daly city, pacifica north. The breeze has turned around, calmed down, but it is out of the southeast. Thats a warmer direction, which is why it feels warmer. Yesterday was crazy, windy and cold. Thats what i heard from many people. Southeast, southeast, southeast, east, east. You get the idea. Yesterday was more west northwest. A little bit of snow up there in them higher elevations. Bernie, quincy, also been some snow on lasten. Thats where chester, burney, quincy. Couple inches of snow there. Probably not the sierra. It looks to be north of i80. 50s on the temps. Peninsula 60s. 43 truckee. 48 reno. 53 ukiah. Thats cool. And 54 redding. That is remarkably cool for this time of year. Also a halfinch of rain the last 30 hours. Its a cool, cool day. Looks like everything is going to stay north. Some of that could filter in through the day right there. You see the line. It doesnt look to be dipping that far south. Look at that system carving itself out. You have to pivot through and thats whats going to keep rain going in the north bay. Mostly cloudy. We will keep the rain maybe north line again. But that south breeze means a little warmer and the south bay could be kind of mild and muggy with that south wind because that system will not dig that far south. Mid 70s there. But mid 60s up north. Starts to clear out friday. A chilly morning saturday. All signs point towards sunny and warmer. Much warmer by early next week. Thank you, steve. Time is 7 22. We may finally get answers about what caused the crash of egyptair flight 804. A very important discovery Just Announced this morning. Dont you just love it todays the d
