We do have a lot of cloud cover moving in. Pretty steady rain for some. Are we ever going to get rid of it . We are, but after wednesday. Mendocino county, lake county, northern sonoma, napa county. Not so much in marin yet but looks like its beginning to show itself offshore. In San Francisco its steady and adding up and very foggy. Light rain, steady rain off and on in to tuesday and then on wednesday our system comes in but it starts to lift northward. After that well be good to go. Not a lot of rain with this but foggy cloudy conditions, quarter of an inch between now and wednesday. Pretty high up there. 50s on the temps. East bay temps, mid 50s. About as close as ive ever seen these temps. 54, 55. And not much of a difference, i dont think youll see too much cloud cover and too much in the way of rain. You can kind of tell there are some lights coming through but its very slow. Well switch right to the bay bridge toll plaza. Visibility is a little bit better but its raining so today you need to give yourself extra time as you drive through the area. 880 in oakland near the coliseum. You can see traffic in both directions looks pretty good. No major problems on the san mateo bridge but its crowded and the weather is definitely going to play a role. Its not raining hard. Just wet enough to slow commutes. Northbound 280 and 85 are slow in cupertino. Slow approaching the Campbell Los Gatos area. 7 03. Back to the desk. Oakland mayor libby schaaf reportedly is running for a second term. Todays chronicle is reporting mayor schaaf will officially announce reelection plans later today. Thats while she still has 19 months left in her term as mayor. The chronicle says mayor schaaf is using the same Campaign Team she used during her first run for mayor, scn strategies. That companys other clients include governor jerry brown, kamala harris, and San Francisco mayor ed lee. In other news this morning, Vallejo Police are still looking for whoever fired shots in to a crowd of teenagers over the weekend as those teenagers were leaving a Birthday Party. More on the investigation and the people who were injured in all of this. Vallejo police are confirming for us this is a Birthday Party that had come to an end. There were a group of kids, teenagers standing out in the street in this area when the shooting broke out. Neighbors have told ktvu that they were rattled as the gunfire broke out. Real quick, pop, pop, pop, pop. Me as a kid from utah, colorado, those were gunshots. Those werent firecrackers. I heard people screaming and next thing i know my whole neighborhood was littered with emergency vehicles. Police telling ktvu eight teenagers were injured by gun fight. Two suspects in ski masks were in a car waiting for that 14yearold girls party to end and the suspects opened fire. Family members of the girl did not want to appear on camera but told ktvu they have no idea why anyone would want to target anyone in this crowd. Asking me if its premeditated, i dont know. My granddaughter dont associate with people that do stuff like that. Thats not how she was raised. Thats not how a lot of kids here was raised. Police say at this point they do not believe this was a random shooting, that the gunmen were targeting someone in that crowd. Investigators telling ktvu theyre looking for anyone who was here. Theyre looking to see if anybody either captured the shooting or the aftermath with their cameras. So were live here. Well look for more updates from Vallejo Police as the day progresses. Berkeley police are looking to make more arrests in connection to saturdays violent clash between supporters protesting and supporting President Trump. Police are looking at surveillance footage. At least 20 people were arrested over the weekend. Some are facing charges that include assault with a deadly weapon. A spokesman went over a list of confiscated weapons. Metal pipes, baseball bats, wood, holes, bricks, rocks. Several people were injured. One person was stabbed. Police say all the people injured were part of the demonstration. They also say two of those arrested were associated with the march 4th confrontation. Today california senator Dianne Feinstein will hold a town hall meeting in San Francisco. Its scheduled for 11 00 this morning. Its at the scottish rite masonic center. Feinstein has been criticized for not holding more town hall meetings. Three Construction Contractors have now submitted bids to fix oroville dams two damaged spillways. The department of Water Resources say these early bids have come in higher than its estimate of 220 million. The mans car caught fire after he crashed in to a tree about 4 30 yesterday morning. Firefighters quickly put out the fire. They did have to cut through the roof of the car and peel back the dashboard to get the man out. Hes in his 20s. He has severe burns on his legs and several fractures and is now being treated at stanford hospital. The chp is investigating whether a man in Sonoma County arrested on suspicion of dui caused a hit and run crash that killed two miniature horses. It happened overnight on saturday morning in pen grove. Investigators say a driver slammed in to a horse corral but kept going. Two horses had to be euthanized. Later that Morning Police officers saw a car with front end damage swerving on highway 101 near petaluma. 39yearold Ronald Renner of oakland was arrested. Investigators say dna evidence and an alert state trooper helped find a suspect in the killing of a new york city woman in massachusetts last summer. Reporter erica richie has more on the series of events that led to the break in the case. We got him. During those months, princeton residents have lived on edge, not knowing if a cold blooded killer remained in the area after sexually assaulting and killing Vanessa Marcotte as she went for a runon august 7th. It was an alert state trooper who spotted him and relentlessly pursued. We knew we were looking for a dark suv and hispanic male. He wrote the plate down on his hand. Reporter the trooper went to the suspects home but the suspect wasnt there. So the trooper left a Business Card asking for him to give him a call. But the call never came. So he went back the next day with a partner. This time the suspect came to the door and voluntarily provided a cheek swab. Im going to call at 3 00. Weve got a dna hit. Reporter the match he received between marcottes hands and dna sample between ortiz is 1 in a quinn tintillion. The victim was a google executive living in new york city. Investigators say she was visiting her mother in massachusetts when that homicide took place. We have new information this morning about the stolen ashes of a man taken from a familys rental car last week in San Francisco. The family once again has those ashes after they were returned. Ashes of joe wilkinson, his widow Mary Wilkinson sent us this photo of him and the silver tube containing her late husbands ashes. She and her daughter traveled from North Carolina. Her rental car was broken in to the at Fishermans Wharf in a garage and thieves stole her suitcase, wallet and ashes. Police called her saturday to say a man anonymously returned the ashes and she plans to take the ashes back to North Carolina. Police say there is a person of interest in the case but we do not have any other details beyond that. Time is 7 17. Lets check in with sal on your commute. Hows it look out there . Were looking at the maps here. Traffic is going to be slow this morning as you drive in to the south bay on 85, 280, and 101. If you drive in san jose. This is a look at the bay bridge toll plaza and you can see that is slow. The carpool lanes are okay. But theres a slowdown here, trying to get on to the bay bridge as we look at the traffic on the span, it looks okay in to San Francisco. This is a live look at the traffic on interstate 880 in oakland. And its moving along very well in both directions. San mateo bridge traffic is moderately heavy as you head out to the high rise. Commutes are just fine but its a little bit slower because of the wet weather. Speaking of the wet weather, lets bring steve in. Theres plenty to go around. Its been going on since sunday. Continues today. Some of it very foggy. But it continues to add up. Ill show you tolls coming up in a second. That fog has really thickened up in the last 45 minutes. Foggy, drizzly, light rain. Watch how we started sunday morning. Cloudy. Rain kicked in. Keeps going, going, going. Systems are funneling in all this moisture from the west southwest. Not so much Southern California but for us. Those are the areas i think can pick up an inch of rain between now and the next 24 hours. Moisture continues to work its way in here. Sometimes it doesnt look that ominous but next thing you know youve picked up half an inch of rain. Some of it is not reaching the ground but some of it is and its pretty steady. Already starting to show itself more in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Thats where Boulder Creek and areas like that can get an inch of rain. We have another system coming in throughout the day in to tuesday. One more on wednesday. That one will start to lift a little northward. After that we should start to see a drier and warmer pattern. Some of the deeper moisture, colder tops. The whiter the tops working their way toward us as this system takes that moisture and sends it right toward us. A lot of 60s, on the mild side. A few sunbreaks. Might be a little bit warmer but for most theyll be stuck in the low to mid 60s today after the morning fog, drizzle, light rain. I dont see much of a breakthrough wednesday then well clear it out on thursday. Everything says sunshine and warmer temps as we head toward the weekend. An airport spokeswoman said flight 1721 was on its way to the kona airport. The airplane landed safely at 10 30 about an hour after its scheduled departure time.
