This morning more than 100 Northern California employers are heading to new jersey to honor fallen officers, they are going to be biking 300 miles in the police unity bike tour. Christian joins us live at sfo where the officers are about to take to the sky. Reporter more than 100 officers from california are getting ready to take this trip that they wish they did not have to make. Robert is here to explain more about the tour, its an opportunity to remember the officers that have fallen in the line of duty. Its the only way that we can remember them. We ride 300 miles on bicycles over a four day period from new jersey to the National Police officer memorial in washington, dc where we are going to come home to the names of where 22,000 Law Enforcement officers have their names on the wall. We are going to be there honoring them. We were here to see you guys off. I had a chance to see video from the ride. Its an emotional ride for the riders. You all have a personal reason to ride and remember an officer or officers in general. It gets emotional for a lot of us, not only do many of us ride because we lotion someone in our own departments but we have many surviving family members and we are there to support them and their loved ones that they lost in the line of duty. How can people help fund this or is there something that you are looking for from the public. The Sonoma County sheriff has announced a big break in a case from 13 years ago. Lindsay cutshal and jason allen had been found dead on a beach. They were engaged tock married. The outage lasted 20 minutes but the flaring sent heavy smoke into the air for several hours, Government Agencies will continue to monitor the situation for the next few days. The air quality district will be in the area doing ongoing monitoring of the air as the valero refinery continues through its start up process, in the event that there is a disruption we will have additional monitoring available. Two people reported having irritation from the smoke but neither went to the hospital. The Industrial Park was evacuated. Two schools were ordered to shelter in place but only a few students had arrived when the incident started. Patients parents were told to not drop their kids off at the school that day. In the south bay, party goers celebrating Cinco De Mayo yesterday. Vehicles drove down the road with mexican flags on their car. The holiday brought big business to local mexican restaurants. The manager at hola restaurant expected his business to more than double and he hired private security. This is the biggest holiday for us. This weekend, the coast guard will be riding a barge that tipped over. They are going to be raising the barge to the surface and towing it away, it could take several weeks, the barge was being used by bart to do work when it sank. The barge is not endangering the project but there are Environmental Concerns because of the fuel still inside of the barge. We know that the maximum potential of 4,000 gallons is possible. We are working to protect the sensitive sites in the area. Officials from fish and wildlife will be standing by in case of think fuel leaks today. Happening today, an organization in the east bay that helps young victims that have been sexually exploited is expanding. The dream catchers Youth Services is opening up a new facility in downtown oakland and there is going to be a big ceremony today. We are really excited. The executive director of the Youth Services said this is a dream come true, moving to a victorian that is beautiful and new on the identifies, its all for teens sceepg the harsh life of the streets. Escaping the harsh life on the streets. For seven years homeless teens, many of them girls have made their way to dream catchers, some are run aways. They lose their family, they lose their beds, their clothes, their siblings, Health Support and income and any help with getting food. They recognized the need for more help. People of color represent over 25 but they are 75 of the girls on the street. Thats a demonstration of exploitation. Many of the teens walking through the doors of out of options. When they turn to us they are making the only choice other than the potential the losing their life to the streets. Reporter they have eight beds but the new building right next door will offer more, counseling and a medical clinic, its a big help for at risk teens. The new facility has the potential of 24 beds. In and out of foster care, some girls also give back, talking to the girls and sharing their wisdom. I always encourage them to focus on what interests them and i try to support them in getting a job and getting housing. The driver of the truck was delivering cement when the payment collapsed under the wheels, the driver climbed out of the window. Happening now a group of Northern CaliforniaPolice Officers are boarding a flight to the east coast on a mission to honor those that died this the line of duty. Christian has more on that ride. Reporter officers from around the state of california are making their way to new jersey getting ready for the Police Unity Tour, a ride that none of the officers wanted to have to make. Troy is joining us from the San Leandro Police department. This is a ride to remember your fellow officers. We have a two pronged mission, the first is so raise awareness of Police Officers killed in the line of duty. A Police Officer is killed every 48 to 60 hours, on average, over the years, that is far too many. This year we are riding for 144 names on the wall. Officers go back through history to see the names of the officers killed in the line of duty. Its a tremendous number of names, there are over 20,000 names on the wall. Its win of the few memorials in washington, dc that will never be done. Its an emotional ride. Reporter can you talk about what its like to be out there and to meet your fellow officers riding. A lot of them have personal reasons for riding. We mostly knew someone that was killed in the line of duty. Thats what brings you to us, is personal and emotional to ride for them. We ride for those that died. We are fortunate enough to be able to ride a bicycle to honor them. Many say, we would trade places if we could. Its hard. There comes a point in the ride when the weight of it comes on you, the strees are lined streets are lined with people and as you ride into that memorial and the gravity of what you have done comes to you, its strong.
