Christian captain joins to talk about the warnings from the Health Officials about that bat and rabies. Good morning. Reporter good morning, guys. That bat discovered on a path. The animal taken to lindsey Wildlife Hospital where it later died and the diagnosis of rabies was confirmed. The park goer discovered that bat on sunday in clayton. They scooped the animal in a box and transported it to the Wildlife Hospital careful not to touch it. It was a very smart move since the animal was diagnosed with rabies. The bat was reportedly scared and sick and died about a week after it was brought to the hospital. Officials say it was not the first rabid bat discovered. There was two other bats bringing the total number of confirmed is cases of rabies in contra costa to three. Seeing a bat is neat but we want to remind you they may be rabid and if your beaten you could develop rabies. Officials stressing that bats pose no risk to humans if they are healthy but if you confront one do not approach it especially fit is exhibiting unusual activity like laying on the ground during daily. If you do encounter a bat and it breaks the skin you need to be tested for rabies, if untreated rabies is fatal in humans animals. The treatment is five shots in the arms but not in the stomach as we have heard about but five shorts in the arm can be an ordeal, the take home message is bats are fun to observe and watch and see and people are intrigued by them, do not approach and if you see one picking those unusual behaviors like lying on the ground during the daylight, do not touch or approach but call wildlife officials and let them know. Firefighters say a car was set on fire and cal train parking lot at two a. M. And then about 4 30 a dumpster set on fire on pallawalto avenue and another fire on high street. The last one was a small brushfire on a bike path on homer avenue. I am hoping it is a random act. I dont want to feel nervous about it but i am nervous now that i realize it is by my condo. Fire calls are rare. Based upon the number that we receive during that time and then they are all in the same vicinity, we are treating them currently as being related and investigating them as possible arsons. Police released surveillance photo of a man walking in the downtown area just before one of the fires got started. They dont know if he is connected to any of the fires but they would like to talk to him wearing a beanie style house and dark pants and you can see it has a backpack. Two men and two teens suspected of breaking into more than 15 cars in one night last week are in jail this morning. Police arresting 20 yearold John Robertson and 20yearold brian randolph, a 16 and 17 yearold were also taken into custody but their identities are not released because of their ages. Four suspects accused of breaking into 17 cars at a hampton inn parking lot in brentwood last friday and stealing one of the cars. Investigators say that suspects then smashed windows of another 36 cars in livermore just a few hours later. Police say they were looking for valuables and car keys. The high cost of living in Silicon Valley is taking its toll on tech workers. This man is homeless. Ann rubin says she cant afford an apartment. Pink hair and pink dog and says things are not as rosy as they appear. I tell people all of the time stop looking at what somebody has got and what you see on the outside. The outside parche is a model facebook worker that runs a nonprofit in your spare time but the reality is that she is living out of her car since april. Everything that i do is here. This is my life. This car means everything to me because it is all i have basically. Except she also has Student Loans and medical bills and even with her salary an apartment that can run more than 2000 a month in Silicon Valley is out of reach. I am embarrassed because i dont want to be looked down on. Parche says she hasnt told her coworkers at facebook that she is homeless, it is a matter of pride. They are shocked that i am going through that because they will say i see you smiling at work. You appear to be happy. You look normal. You look clean.
