Everyone is actually saying that this morning. You know, donald trump himself this morning is out. Fox news apologized right up into the debate time hoping he would show up. He said it was simply too little, too late. He carried on with his veterans fundraiser. He raised some 6 million on a separate stage in des moines, iowa. But over here on this side on this stage the debate went on without him. But as you say, his presence certainly was felt. Take a listen. Lets address the elephant not in the room tonight. I am a maniac and everyone on this stage is stupid fat and ugly. And ben, youre a terrible surgeon. Now that we have gotten the donald trump portion out of the way. Reporter trump came up again and again. But they did take on more traditional topics. Foreign and domestic terrorism were first up. Google says that they are the number one issue that viewers want to hear about, but it was immigration where the biggest sparks flew last night. Fox showed clip after clip of ted cruz and marco rubio flipflopping. Its the first time that has happened during a debate. Then they asked them to explain. Listen to this. Havent you proven that you cannot be trusted on this issue . No, because if you look at the quote, and its specific, and it says blanket amnesty you used to support a path to citizenship. So did you. So did you, marco. Jeb bush took on russian owe russian owe. Donald trump was on top even though he was not there last night. The big question this morning is, who won . Google was actually tracking that this morning as well, and they are saying that 29 of people on google believe that rubio won. 17 believe trump one. 15 believe rand paul won. Ted cruz wasnt in the top three. I can tell you most analysts believe that ted cruz came out on top. Most analysts believe he is going to do well in iowa. He has the largest ground game from 12,000 volunteers out there to get his people to the caucuses. Here in iowa, that is the name of the game. For now thats the latest live in des moines. I think we are beginning to see a window as why a lot of people dont like the man . He is hard to read and he is not very well liked in the United States senate. He goes often on his own tangents and that sort of thing. Doesnt kind of play well with others. And you can see that. It comes out on stage. I thought rubio and bush had a fantastic debate. Youre right. And i know rubio was drilled on the immigration issue. He appeared polished. He touched on what a lot of iowaans are passionate about, and that was religion. He talked about being a christian. Twothirds of them are evangelical christians. That would have played and is play well with then. The other thing to consider, too, is that while everybody was taking shots at cruz, as the frontrunner, rubio i thought slipped in and did a good job. I thought he had a very good night. I thought jeb bush had a good night. Better than previous debates. John kasich continues to turn in wonderfully statistical numbers. He cant get over hump. This was the only debate in iowa so far. Yeah. He didnt debate in it, donald trump. Is that going to play a role . That remains to be seen because if people cared or didnt care, they are going to utilize that when they go to vote. If people were on the fence before this debate between cruz and trump . They might fall on the cruz side of things. The fact that last night was the Second Lowest rated debate of the cycle, is it because donald trump wasnt there or because people are just no. Sadly, it is that with donald trump not being there, a lot of people actually were watching the counter event. Thats right. Trumps event. It got bigger numbers than trumps counter event . It did. But the total numbers were down. You know, for better or worse, donald trump attracts people to the show. Caucuses are different. Yes. You are not going to a little booth and punching a hole. You are having a conversation. I am curious about the next 48 hours. Do the candidates page for the people they know will caucus for them or people who are 5050 . Both, mike. What they do is youve got a ground army, as it were, out there at all the caucuses talking with people and that sort of thing. Then the candidates make specific appearances where they think they can push the caucus over the top. It is unlike anything else. You may have a caucus meeting in a big gymnasium with republicans on one side and dems on the other. Its really, when you are out there in these states where people to people really matter, its interesting to watch. I was once doing something in nebraska where if all the candidates didnt show up at mrs. Smiths house kind of thing. Right, right. You were out. Right. Youre out. We have a short time left. With more el nino storms on the way, demolish crews are tearing down a red tagged house in San Francisco. The hope is located near Mount Davidson by city college there. City inspectors worry the house might slide down a hill and then right into another home. This morning we talked with the owner of that house. Public records show he bought the home last october for 2 million. He had plans to remodel the house and move in next year, but due to the risk to the neighborhood emergency demolish of the home he just bought started yesterday. Primary concern was everyones safety. You know, the rest of the homes around us and the crew taking it down. Thats why they did as much as they could yesterday. Now back for day two. Investigators are inspectors, pardon me, dont know the exact cause of the ground movement, but the recent rains may be a factor. Contractors in walnut creek are cleaning up a big mess after a tree fell on a home. City arborist was scheduled to inspect that tree today after the homeowners reported that it was leaning last week. One of the branches slammed down into their bedroom when that oak tree came crashing into their home. While many have seen the impact this has had in terms of traffic, inconveniencing people on their commute, projects like this have had a positive impact for people looking for some work. Now, many much them are construction jobs. This has been quite a project. Many of the vendors, companies are here at super bowl city. Since last sunday construction crews have been working 14hour days to get this up and running before the weekend. There is a lot of security as well. Many people benefitting from that temporary work that this project projects like this bring. Its great to be able to get it. The fox tv station in vegas is reporting billionaire casino owner Sheldon Adelson is planning to build a 60,000 seat dome stadium on land owned by the university of nevada. It happened in santa rosa about 7 00 near Charles Schulz airport. The plane was on the final approach when it went down into a field near some homes. Police found the body of kyle myrick in the santa cruz mountains. Ktvu fox 2s janine de la vega has new information about the case. Reporter this morning we spoke to the owner of gp noters. That is where kyle myrick, the victim, worked. They are devastated over his loss. One of the things that the owner mentioned to me was that the suspect in this case used to go Mountain Biking with some of the employees here, and they have been working with police and told them that the suspect does go Mountain Biking in areas in the santa cruz mountains, and thats what did help detectives. Right here next door, this is where people have left candles and flowers to honor and remember kyle myrick. Now, take a look at this Instagram Video of the vigil that took place last night for myrick. Friends came on motorcycles, revving them because myrick loved riding and working on bikes. A lot of people have been posting on social media expressing their heartbreak. They described the 28yearold as a kind, down to earth, and caring person. He worked at gp motors in san jose where he assembled motorcycles. And last friday was when he was last seen. A crime scene and evidence was found next door, and that led police to believe he had been murdered. Myricks family and investigators had been conducting searches all week for him. Yesterday detectives were able to find his body near jamison creek, which is in the santa cruz mountains. Its a remote area off of highway 9th and its about 25 miles away from the crime scene. Kyles stepfather posted a message on facebook saying, quote, we are extremely sad, but knowing he is no longer lost is a great comfort. Kyle is in a good place now.
