Our photojournalists was able to get close to the car a few moments ago. And Alameda CountySpokesman Says the train jumped the tracks after hitting debris from a mudslide. Its hard to say how big that mudslide was, but its a preliminary investigation. There are various factors that come in to play to determine what caused the derailment. The train was carrying 214 passengers. Nine were taken to the hospital with injuries ranging from minor to critical. Everybody was screaming. But just momentarily. Once they realized there was no imminent danger, things were pretty calm. There is no timetable on when crews can remove the wreckage. We have not heard on when Train Service will resume. An official with the Union Pacific railroad did say that the damage to the tracks was minimal. A frightening ordeal for the passengers, for the hundreds of passengers on that train. Authorities tell us there were a total of nine people who were injured on that derailed train. Four were seriously hurt. Those injuries are not life threatening. Some of the people in the first train car had back in spine injuries. Others had head injuries. It is a miracle that no one was killed in the derailment. There were 214 people on board. All got out by themselves or were rescued. We heard from a passenger who helped rescue people trapped in the first car. There were probably about 20 or so in the front car.
