Show saying her husband had a concussion last season. He played 12 games after the suspension and three more games in the playoff and won a super bowl. The nfl requires, quote, significant and noteworthy injuries to be reported. The patriots never listed brady as having a concussion at any point during the season. So either tom bradys wife could be fibbing a little bit or maybe she said something she shouldnt have said. She is going to say im no doctor. I think he had a concussion. Right. She said, quote, he had a concussion last year. She has concussions every she stops. I mean we dont talk about it. He does have concussions. End quote. She wants him to stop playing. He wants to play until he is 45. Right. He is 40. He would consider his wifes opinion when it comes to retirement. Has your spouse ever said something to someone else and you say what . This is why we dont talk about each a he doesnt talk about me and i dont talk about him. I dont think he understands the sensitivities. Your husband called and said youre reading too slow. I play it safe. Lets start with the city by the bay. Ocean beach, not far from there, city college of San Francisco. Today the college will discuss arming its Police Officers. It is drawing support and opposition throughout the campus. Alex savidge is live in San Francisco as the Schools Police chief wants to equip officers with even more than a gun. Alex. Reporter yeah. Good morning to you guys. Backers of this plan say this will allow Campus Police to respond more quickly to threats here at city college of San Francisco. However opponents plaintiff this could lead to more violent confrontations between officers and students. Later today, the Student Governance Council will vote on a plan that could put guns in the hands of Police Officers. The chief of police pushing for the plan and asking 55,000 to be spent on guns, tasers and body cameras for the Campus Police force of 32 officers. It is the only college in the bay area with a police force that is unarmed. This morning, many students and professors have voiced opposition to this proposal. And i just talked a short time ago by phone with the faculty president. We think introducing the guns on campus is will probably increase the likelihood of there being some tragic incident. We really we dont think it is needed. It depends on who the officer is and how that person is going to use them. If this proposition comes into play, i would like to have the police to have sufficient training to be able to handle that weapon weapon responsibly. Reporter this happened after an outside consultant wad hired to look how the campus could respond to a gun scare that happened back in 015, reports of someone with a gun on campus. The consultant says they believe that the police force should be armed. Again, 32 officers and the idea that the police chief has is to give them all guns, tasers and body cameras. Again, we are expecting a big vote on this controversial matter to happen later this afternoon. Thats when the Governance Council will take its vote. Back to you guys. Thank you, alex. Roger ailes, the founder of fox news, has died at the age of 77. In a Statement Released by his wife, he died this morning. He is credited with being a pioneer of conservative oriented news. He stepped down from fox news after being accused of sexual harassment. He was 77 years old. The department of justice has named Robert Mueller as special council to take over the investigation. He himself is a former fbi director. He started under president bush in 2001, just days before the 9 11 attacks. He served a tenyear term and stayed another two years at the request of president obama. Mueller was succeeded by james comey, who President Trump fired last week. Muellers legal career started in San Francisco back in the 70s and he later served as u. S. Attorney for northern california. Ktvu spoke with muellers former boss in San Francisco. He says mueller is a Perfect Choice and described him as a person of integrity that leaves politics out of his investigations. Robert muellers appointment seemed to bring relief to democrats and republicans on capitol hill who hope the 72 yearold former fbi director will bring credibility to the federal probe into whether the Russian Election meddling was linked to the trump campaign. Deputy attorney general Rod Rosenstein issued the order wednesday, saying my decision is not a finding that crimes have been committed or that any prosecution is warranted. But he said for americans to have confidence in the outcome, he felt a need for a special counsel who exercises a degree of independence from the normal chain of command. It is agood thing. It takes the politics out of it. It has gotten too political. Anyone with any news that comes out, those on the left yell impeach. Those on the right say it is fake. Reporter democratic senator Chuck Schumer posted on twitter, i have greater confidence that the investigation will follow the facts wherever they lead. Mueller said he would accept the responsibility and discharge it to the best of his ability. He is a very skilled investigator and prosecutor. He knows how to put together a complex case. Reporter joe remembers when mueller worked for him in the San Francisco office as an assistant u. S. Attorney three decades ago. He was a great lawyer. He did a great job. You could see that he had all of the skills. Reporter mueller will need the skills as he tackles an investigation that has become increasingly political and complex, following reports that President Trump released classified intelligence to russia and asked james comey to drop the investigation against the president S National Security adviser Michael Flynn shortly before the president fired comey. No politician in history, and i say this with great surety, has been treated worse or more unfairly. Reporter President Trump spoke wednesday at the Coast Guard Academy graduation and issued a written response. Quote, as i have stated many times, a thorough investigation will confirm what we already know, there was no collusion between my campaign and any foreign entity. I look forward to this matter concluded quickly. People will not see press conferences every week reporting on how the investigation is going. They may not see him until the point that the investigation is completed. But i think that they will know it is underway because there will be subpoenas issued. Reporter ktvu fox 2 news. President trump tweeted this morning about the special counsel being named saying with all of the illegal acts taking place in the Clinton Campaign and obama administration, there was never a special counsel appointed. This is the greatest witch hunt of a politician in history. The possible replacements for james comey is growing. The president met with three more candidates for the job including joel lieberman. He was a Vice President ial campaign in the 2000 president ial election. He later became an independent. The white house says that the white house interviewed mcgabe and mcfeely. Eight other candidates have been interviewed. The president has said that he will make, quote, a fast decision. I want to stop here quickly and mention a story were following on social media out of New York Times square. Right. One woman says her building is on lockdown because of the incident. 45th and broadway near times square. I retweeted a couple pictures were working to bring you here. People are screaming and running. The place is swarming with emergency vehicles and cops, people injured. If youve ever been to times square, here is a picture that we have from one of the tweets. You can see that car is up there on what they call the bollard poles which are supposed to keep vehicles from getting on to the sidewalk. Right. And immobilizing vehicles. If youve ever been to times square, here is a live picture coming into the control room. If youve ever been there, a lot of people and cops. Police officers all over the place. So they didnt have to go far. And mike, you saw a lot of tweets starting, what, just after 9 00. Yeah. Probably just after we went on air for the 9. I am seeing another picture of someone clearly injured in a crosswalk. And you can see a number of officers have that intersection completely blocked off. This could have been a medical emergency and someone we have seen that happen where someone loses control of the vehicle. It could be something more. We will continue to follow this story. One thing for sure, a lot of the Major Networks have stations there. We will be finding out more about what happened. These pictures coming in on twitter at first. There is the photo that was sent out in a tweet just a little bit after 9 00. This happened, again, noon time there in new york city. Right near broadway and west 45th. And to bring you information from the scene here live, we welcome on the phone rob eikel a member of the ktvu family. Youre from the bay area and went to new york yesterday and saw it happened. Describe what you saw. Reporter yeah. Thank you. So i was i was standing in the front of the levi strauss store. The doors were open and a bunch of teem were screaming and a bunch of people ran past the door. Behind them was a burgundy car that was flooring it. This guy was going probably 50 50 Miles Per Hour. He was flying. He mowed over unfortunately he ran over a woman in front of me. Another woman in the intersection and then he kept going. And then i saw him get another two blocks before he collided with something, some barrier where it launched the car up into the air. That was and i left the store and walked down there and there were bodies all over the sidewalk. I mean did you happen to get a look at the driver . Was it a man or woman . A man. Did you see any intent . Was he passed out . Was he awake . What was going on there. I walked down there right when they were bringing the suspect. They caught him. Ive got video of him. I dont know if it has uploaded yet. It was a it was a dark skinned male, mid30s. Didnt have a shirt on. He didnt look drunk. Of course he had like eight Police Officers holding him down. But definitely a it looked intentional. But i cant really speak to that. Rob, that person is in custody . Law enforcement has him in cuffs and he is in a patrol vehicle. Thats correct. I got video that some be uploading of them loading them into the squad car. Is there a lockdown situation in case there is the potential of another vehicle going through the area . So the police sorry for the noise. The police have shut down times square. I just got force today evacuate out of the shop i was doing an audit for. They turned around everybody. All of the buildings are closed down. You cant get up there. Everybody is basically backed away from times square. Is it a sense of panic or calm now that someone is in custody . What are you feeling from your fellow citizens in times square . There is definitely there is quite a few people who didnt witness it and are oblivious to what is going on. Quite a few people are in shock. People are visibly upset or sick. So youve got kind of a mixture of a lot of people who witnessed it that you know, it is definitely not something that i wanted to see today and a lot of people that are just walking into it. Rob, times square is always it always has a large Police Presence. I imagine that as soon as you saw this happen, you heard sirens. In times square yeah. There was police were here immediately. And the Police Presence was just massive. This is a very warm day in they were just police all over the place. And they pushed everybody back. They handled the scene, the situation very professionally. They have obviously been through this before. Something similar. And they know they know exactly how to control a situation like this. S. Since you were right there as this was happening before probably some of the First Responders arrived, you know, ambulances, et cetera, did you see just people helping those who were injured and rushing to their aid . Yeah. I saw quite a few people. Quite a lot of Good Samaritans rushing to the people that had been injured by the car. I saw of course quite a few people taking out their cell phones and taking video. And then but definitely there was a lot of camaraderie of people rushing in to help out. This, so we will were showing pictures right now, rob, so you know, video of a maroon car that you described on two wheels up on its side. Investigators are poking around. That car is roped off by Yellow Police tape. Clearly an active scene in new yorks times square. Thank you, rob, for joining us for live coverage from times square. We will let you go. He is a member of the ktvu family in new york on business. He saw everything that happened. To recap again here, as many as ten people boulevard to be hit and injured by a speeding car that came up on the sidewalk and hit pedestrians in times area. At least one person is dead. We certainly have been seeing on twitter, mike and sal, chaos, concern, people wanting to know what exactly happened. As rob said, this vehicle from his perspective was going 50 Miles Per Hour. Put yourself in union square in San Francisco and think about how fast 50 Miles Per Hour you cant get out of the way of Something Like that. In times square, what are those called. Bollard posts and they use them as barriers to keep cars they are all over the place. They keep cars from, you know, certain areas in case this happens. It looks like the bollard post did its job. We will continue to follow the breaking news there in new york city. And well be right back after the break. Lilly. She pretty much lives in her favorite princess dress.
