Most of the weekend so far has been dry. That will be changing over the next few hours, but especially as we head into your monday forecast. Right now our live stormtracker you see that frontal system offshore and a lot of moisture to work with moving in from the south and west. With that this will be the source of some energy to produce some moderate to even some heavy rainfall as we head into your monday forecast. Here is a closer look at live stormtracker 2 right now. A few scattered showers towards parts of san mateo and santa cruz counties. Santa rosa reporting some light rain off and on all afternoon. There we go with the rainfall coverage closer sonoma, glen ellyn and the napa region as well. As far as the forecast model, we will keep the scattered showers very scattered in the forecast for tonight. But look what happens as we transition into your monday morning. Plan on a wet monday morning commute. And then in fact this is an updated forecast, you see what happens. It delays the onset of the significant rainfall. It eventually moves on shore. So with that we could have some heavy downpours out there and possibly an urban and small stream flood advisory. I will let you know how much rainfall we can expect from the system. As you see, you can take a look, there is flashing lights behind us. That is from careys tree service. They are removing a tree from a home here in oakland. These workers say that trees are likely going to keep falling because the ground is already saturated. Just as flooded streets are drying out, the bay area is bracing for more rain. Hopefully, the pumps work and everything works and it doesnt flood again when the rains come. Reporter residents at this Mobile Home Park in redwood city are still cleaning up. This is our home. We have to clean it up and come back. A place to get our life back. Reporter aside from water damage, many people are seeing tree damage. The tree service is busy removing downed trees all over alameda and contra costa counties like this massive one that fell just six inches from the back door of deborah robertos home in oakland. I opened the door and almost got poked in the eye by the branches. Thats how close it was. We have to get that down tonight before it rains. Because the ground is very wet right now and the trees are heavy on the the top. Reporter and people are flocking the stores to prep again. Last weeks wet weather was the busiest mid december in history for hayward ace hardware. Customers were buying boots, tarps, gut cleaners, and the store is expecting another shipment of sump pumps tomorrow after selling out. We have some new details now on those disturbing effigies that appeared on campus yesterday at uc berkeley. We have chosen not to show them because of their graphic nature. Today a bay area artist collective is claiming responsetive for them. The effigies depict three cardboard cutouts of black people lynched more than 100 years ago and the words i cant breathe were written on them. A it read in part that we apologize solely and profusely to black americans who felt further attacked by this work. The statement that was posted on twitter goes on to say that each image represents a true life ended by unimaginable act of ignorance and human cruelty. Michael brown senior, the father of the unarmed black teenager fatally shot by a ferguson, Missouri Police officer, is set to speak tonight at the Third Baptist Church with other parents who have also lost children to violence. Yesterday brown was in washington, d. C. Where he appeared at a rally with the reverend al sharpton. And from the pulpit to the Golden Gate Bridge. More calls today for change. Protesters highlighted the case of eric garner. He was detained by new York City Police in a chokehold. We will have more on todays protesters who brought their message to the iconic landmark. Police are trying to track down a shooter who killed a man in east oakland. Officers responded to a report of gunshots after 8 00 last night. Police say the victim was suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have not released any information about a positive motive. A 19yearold man is behind bars accused of stabbing his father multiple times at a home in solano county. Investigators say that 42yearold eric carter and his son, emanuel, were visiting family on cone coat around 7 30 last night when they got into an argument. Things escalated. Officers say emanuel pulled out a knife and stabbed his father multiple times. He then drove off. The elder carter was rushed to the hospital. No word tonight on his condition. Officers aaround midnight the son turned himself in and was arrested without incidentcism Union City Police hope a picture helps them find a mentally ill man. 47yearold jason morton went missing thursday evening. He is 511, 135 pounds. He left his care facility on sand a cruise way and may have gone to the Union Landing shopping center. He suffers from bipolar disorder and skits frena. A meting for a sex ed class. This is video now from a School District meeting last month when parents first spoke out about their disapproval of the Sex Education program. I should probably say that right away. We are tracking more rain out there, but the intensity of last weeks system, we generally dont see that in the course of maybe two to three years. The one we will see tomorrow is going to be respectable with moderate to heavy rainfall, but nothing like the one that moved through the region last thursday morning. Here on the satellite already some rain showers up towards northern california. Some showers developing offshore. Mostly on the light side. Here is a look at the current radar sweep, and you cant pick out some of the coverage out there. Santa rosa reporting some light rainfall. Some of this activity beginning to move into napa county. Nothing too extreme, but enough to wet the roadways. And this coverage will be expanding in terms of the rainfall coverage expanding over the next few hours. We are not going to go completely dry until next weekend. But at least for tomorrow, for your monday, periods of heavy rain. Could be, as we said, some gusty winds around 30 to 40 Miles Per Hour. A Pew Research Poll finds for the first time in 20 years more americans favor gun rights over gun control. 52 of those surveyed say its more important to protect gun ownership while 46 say its more important to control the guns.
