The violence. Reporter we did see a number of protesters get on the freeway state 24 earlier tonight as you mentioned. We also heard reports on social media of a chp vehicle on fire. Where we are right now here at shadock and dwight you can see what happened to this radio shack. A couple of smashed windows. One reporter told me a vandal smashed his way in with a hammer. And several protesters tried to stop him. They were trying to stop the vandalism and the looting and one of them got hit in the head in the from says. A worker hit in the head by a protester. We did see what looked like tear gas being deployed several times in that area. Some of the protesters were able to get on the freeway. We did lose site of them at that point. Shortly after we did see a number of additional chp units rushing into the area. This protest got started with well over 600 or 700 strong marching through berkeley. The chants ranged from no justice no peace, to shame on you to things we cannot repeat on television. Stopping many times to rally the crowds. Im really happy how everybody is. Everything is going well. Were going to keep going were not going to stop. I was out there last night for a little bit. Im outraged that my tax dollars are going to Police Brutality and excessive force. I think were all trying to stay as peaceful as possible. But were all keeping eyes on the people that are bad. But were ultimately just trying to get our message heard. That were tired of the Police Brutality and incarceration rates are skewed definitely toward minorities. Reporter i got off the phone with chp, eastbound 24 the back up and reopened at 9 30. Right now the clairmont onramp is shut down so you want to avoid that area. Last night these protests lasted well past midnight. Are you getting a sense this is still going to continue. I understand there are still protesters on telegraph in berkeley. Reporter we definitely heard from a will the of the protesters saying they wanted to keep this issue front and center. That they werent going to let up. That is certainly a likely possibility. Cara liu, live in berkeley. Berkeley businesses already on edge. Wooden boards replaced glass at several stores and businesses. Police made at least half a dozen arrests when things started to get out of hand. Coming up at 10 30 tonight, well take a closer look at the damage from last nights protests. We have some developing news to tell you about right now. There has been an officer involved shooting in oakland. And were told it involves San Leandro Police. The incidents began in san leandro where a police car got shot up and an officer may have been injured. An apparent pursuit ended in oakland. We have no details on the police shoot out there but an unidentified person was shot and pronounced dead at the scene. We will be following this story and try to get you more details throughout this newscast. Well also be posting updates on facebook and twitter. In other news it was a big day for bay area football fans. The two teams hadn t met on the football field since 2011. But today 49ers traveled across the bay to take on the raiders. The game took a little bit of an unexpected turn as the nfls worse team proved to be the best in the bay area. At least for today. Not the kind of outcome a lot of people expected today. Yeah, no but sports fans across the bay had this one very much on their radar. You know it is sports fandom 101. When things arent going your way you enjoy taking down your rivals. A man was beaten unconscious and two people were shot in the parking lot that year. They both survived. A shooting outside a popular british pup in downtown san jose has left a man in critical condition. The shooting happened on west santa clara street. A person at the pub told us the victim was a pub Security Guard but was off duty. He said that police made an arrest and that officers are looking at the pub Surveillance Video to try to determine what happened. The person in the vehicle that was being chased was killed. We just learned the San Leandro Police officer has been h ospitalized with injuries.
