All of this water and mud came down, and trees, and it was just this force of nothing like ive ever seen before. Reporter that force sweeping through the ray family property her father owns. This slide happening early Tuesday Morning during heavy rainfall. Emergency crews were unable to reach them, so the ray family waited it out. Thankfully, they all got out safely. It was just surreal. Were told thats because of a downed tree, and a mudslide that happened earlier today. Reporter theyre staying with family and friends. Thankfully, they have a large family and are staying in san mateo tonight. As you can imagine, the father had built the home here, so the family could all live together, but because of this mudslide, thats not happening now. What a shame. Azenith smith live for us tonight. Just look at that picture, thats incredible. Fortunately, though, he was not injured. Flooding and mudslides have caused dozens of road closures. Traffic is slow going on highway 17 near Scotts Valley tonight, which was completely shut down at vine hill road. Now one lane is running in each direction, and thats expected to continue for the next three days, as crews work to clean up a hillside. Caltran is telling drivers to expect significant delays, especially during commuting hours, until at least the end of the week. In marin county, one eastbound lane of highway 37 in novato is back open, after flooding shut down traffic in both directions. Tonight, westbound lanes rhyme closed. Crews are using large pumps to move the water off the roadway. All lanes of westbound interstate 580 in livermore should be reopening right now after a huge pothole brought traffic to a crawl for most of the day. At least 15 cars got flat tires early today near greenville road exit, before caltrans shut down two of the four westbound lanes to make repairs. The potholes developed about 3 00 a. M. The lanes were scheduled to reopen minutes ago at 10 00 tonight. Our chief meteorologist, bill martin is tracking tomorrows rain, and when that storm is going to hit. Its going to hit about 9 00, 10 00, 11 00 tomorrow morning. Its going to be nasty. Were going to see a lot of rain, a lot of wind. This upper level wind, its powerful, and that upper level wind is going to work its way down to the surface by tomorrow morning, midmorning. Theres not much rain out there now. The road in the Oakland Hills is closed tonight because of a downed tree. Cars are not being allowed in the 400 block of panoramic way, but the homes are still accessible. Neighbors are out tonight looking at the large tree blocking the road. Oakland public works say theyve received 500 cars for flooding, fallen trees, and other related issues since early january. In the north bay, the Russian River rose two feet above flood stage. Crews also had to rescue at least three people overnight who got stranded in their homes or cars. The river is expected to rise tomorrow and reach flood stage again by friday morning. Crews are working to reach a saturated hillside. I know a lot of younger people who think its really cool. Reporter king says the Sales Force Tower has grown on him. He describes it as tasteful, well taylored, and refined. A well built Corporate Office tower in a high rise neighborhood. But on the flip side. My guess is it will never say San Francisco the way that the Transamerica Pyramid does, or the way that the Ferry Building does. I think its just a matter of time when you know, changes happen. Its not necessarily bad. You should preserve heritage listed buildings, landmark buildings, but you shouldnt say no to new development, new technology. This is one of the most efficient buildings that are out there.
