Center in philadelphia this is eyewitness 3 news. Right now on Eyewitness News Severe Weather has been rolling through the area all day today and were not out of the woods just yet. Were tracking these storms as they head east. Good evening. Im natasha brown. Thanks for joining us. Flash flood warnings are in effect for parts of the area. Lets get over to lauren casey in our Weather Center with the latest on the track of these storms. Lauren. Thanks, natasha. We do have a newly issued Flash Flood Warning in effect now for parts of burlington and atlantic county. This until 2 45 overnight tonight. We a standing Flash Flood Warning for millard and Camden County and bowlington county. We have a cluster of thunderstorms that are stagnant over parts of south jersey. You can see some of the towns included in the Flash Flood Warning including bowlen, waterford, and also the secondary warning now includes carver city and cape may as well. We have been dealing with the heavy rainfall thats clustered and sat there for a period of hours. Check out some of the Doppler Radar estimates. This is the past six hours. Most of the rain fell in the last three to four hours. You have the bullseye indicating five inches of rainfall. This areas picking up three inches of rainfall across parts of Camden County. It only takes about six inches of rainfall to impact your vehicle, so now with rainfall totals four to five inches, and then we have poor drainage areas. That water will be standing in some locations. Not great travel conditions right now. Especially across parts of Camden County. The good news is the rainfall is finally dissipating after hours of steady rainfall. Still have some lingering rainfall across parts of burlington county, but that will trend to dissipate even in the next 30 minutes or so. We didnt have that heavy pocket of rainfall over this area. This loop is three hours long. Even at the beginning of the rain it was coming down, so just very steady. These storms very stagnant and stationary. The high rainfall rates and totals, again, the secondary area, the rain is now starting to trend back as well. Future weather showing us as we head into the overnight period, the rain will completely come to an end across the area and give us a dry start to our sunday, and it will be much dryer day so we can dry out some of this rain. Well talk about our sunday forecast and when well get some relief from the steamy summertime weather and the full forecast coming up. Thanks, lauren. He said that he believed gulen was involved in the failed military coup on friday. Its a charge that gulen vihamently denies. Gulen conducted an interview with cbc 3 is and several International Media outlets entirely in turkish. Its been translated by an aide. Gulen suggested the coup was like previous attempts and appeared to be staged. It appeared like a scenario. Reporter meanwhile, outside the compound about 100 proteste protesters, many wrapped in turkish flags, expressed their support for president erdogan and urged the United States to extradite gulen. Hopefully theyll send him back to turkey. He will be charged in turkey. Reporter gulen says he has no problem with that because he would be found innocent. Translator no problem. Reporter secretary of state john kerry would entertain an extradition request but the turkish depos turkish government has not made one. He says the turkish government would have to present evidence to back its claim. Eyewitness news. Thousands of people filled the streets of ankara chanting support for their democratic government. Patrick ripa was one of the five officers gunned down following a protest in Downtown Dallas on july 7th. The 32yearold officer served three tours in iraq as a petty officer second class with the u. Presumptive democratic nominee Hillary Clinton is promising to introduce an amendment overturning citizens united. Thats the Supreme Court ruling that opened the door to a flood of corporate and union spending in politics. Clinton made the announcement tonight in a video showed to liberal activists meeting in st. Louis. Plans to ban smoking at many new jersey beaches went up in smoke. Governor christie vetoed a bill that would have outlawed smoking at all of the states public beaches and parks. Christie says he hates smoking, but he wants towns to decide if it should be banned. Smokers, some of them, are happy with the governors decision. I can understand for, like, Health Issues as far as young kids, but if you are out in a parking lot like this and theres no kids around, i would say go for it. A Hacking Group said they crashed the server during the games worldwide rollout, and another strike on pokemon is coming, they say. The Company Behind the popular smartphone game says its working now to fix the server issues. Pokemon go was launched on july 7th and was only available in eight countries up until today. Online shopping is surging, and now ups is hoping to kafcasn with saturday delivery. But only in a few locations. Ups will test the saturdayly deliveries this summer before deciding to make it permanent. Fedex and the u. S. Postal service already delivers on saturday. 80,000 baby gates have been recalled because they can unlock by themselves leading to falls. Ten injuries have been reported already. If you have one of these gates, stop using it immediately and return it for a full refund. Volunteers in Montgomery County spent their saturday morning helping a disabled mover. Every try, and it would take me reporter a few hours is all these guys need to make a difference. Around 30 volunteers from the buckmont chapter of the remodeling industry heard about carols story and spent their saturday pitching in to help her completely free of charge. I want to do something. A lot of landscape and yardwork. Reporter that used to be the prized work of carol. A war veteran who passed away in 2013. Anthony was only 17 when he first served in vietnam. He served two military tours after that, and volunteers say theyre here to give back to someone who gave so much to this country. Its only right we give back. Could not ring more loudly than today. It was a good start to the day, and then it end odd a rocky note. We did earlier today, unfortunately, in ocean county, point pleasant, had two injuries due to lightning strikes and separate incidents. Some lightning strikes, lightning unfortunately, so far this year in the United States weve had 12 fatalities due to lightning strikes. In the last ten years 326. Now, of those nearly 80 of the victims are when you hear the thunder, you want to go indoors because 15 miles of an apparent thunderstorm, the lightning can reach out and strike. In i time you hear thunder, you are at the potential risk of being impacted by the lightning, and potentially being injured, and, of course, we never want to see that. We have the lightning issues earlier in the day, and then the heavy rainfall issued later in the day contributing to some flooding concerns across portions of south jersey. Check out some of the rainfall totals in just a matter of hours. This evening nearly four inches of rainfall. Picking up two and a half inches of rainfall. Medford, about two and a half inches of rainfall. Of course, the doppler estimates at the top of the show, picking up five inches of rainfall in some parts of Camden County. Checking in on a live network, also telling the story of heavy rainfall and steady rainfall throughout the evening. Camden picking up over an inch and a half of rainfall. We have the lightning injuries. Picking up well over an inch of rainfall earlier in the day. We have the Flash Flood Warnings in effect for parts of south jersey, burlington county, atlantic county, Camden County, and gloster county as well. Travel not advised in these areas over the next several hours until we get the rain to drain on out. Fortunately, the rainfall has shrunk. Heavy rain that was so persistent throughout the evening hours with the rain coming down in this threehour loop is now diminishing and moving off to the east giving us dryer conditions. There are a few lingering showers in and around the pocon poconos. We a moderate cell right now. Pocono over the last couple of hours, youve seen lightning and heavy rainfall, but the city of philadelphia, temperature 74 degrees. Nice, calm winds, and temperatures due to that raincooled air feeling a little better this evening than this time yesterday evening. 73 degrees right now in millville. Were at 71 in a. C. , and overnight well warm up maybe a degree or two as we head past midnight and then stabilize our temperatures. 74 degrees for the overnight low. Partly cloudy and still a little bit muggy as we head into the day tomorrow, and another hot one in store. 91 degrees the high temperature. A bit more humid. Youll be feeling that the last several days. Mostly sunny. Keeping that storm chance out of the forecast for most of us. I think we could see an isolated shower. Maybe a rumble of thunder pop up along the coastline, but, again, isolated in nature. Not going to see anything. Well see this tomorrow evening. Mostly sunny conditions. Topping at 84 at the shore. Hot on monday. 88 degrees. Starting off with a storm on tuesday. Were looking better later in the day with clearing and gradual decreasing humidity. We are toasty once again into monday. Humid conditions as well. Chance of thunderstorms with a cold front that moves in monday night into the first part of the day on tuesday that youre going to love this behind that cold front. Much dryer air in store. Even by tuesday evening. Youre going to feel that dramatic difference in the humidity. Wednesday its going to be a beautiful day. Low humidity. 85 degrees. Bright sunshine. Well heat up into thursday, but we still keep the humidity on the comfortable side into thursday and friday as well.
