the town of whitmore is flooded. this wedge tornado went through around 5:00 or 6:00, right before sunset. that in itself would be a huge headline breaking story all by itself. let me just show you some of the statistics here. newark with this storm had 8.44 inches of rain. central park had over 7 inches of rain. it wasn't like it was an isolated -- i mean new york had over 6 inches of rain. this was widespread from pennsylvania through new jersey and new york and into connecticut and it's still raining in areas in boston and cape cod. in one hour, newark had 3.24. that was the most ever recorded in a single hour. new york city, which has a period of record that goes back about 170 years had 3.15. both was the most it had ever seen in one single hour. as far as six hour totals.
