Centcom, bake sales or whatever. They do not contain any classified information whatsoever and the official record is that as far as anybody knows, there was no classified information that was compromised. In fact according to one official, this is very embarrassing. But apparently no security threat, at least for the time being as far as we know. Now centcom has taken down the site. Who knows if they will get it up any time soon but they do say that they have the situation for the time being under control, joy. Thank you very much. And joining us now is michael mcnair. Mikey, what are we talking about in terms of going after the social media accounts of Central Command. What is the message here and the purpose . I think as it was pointed out, it was embarrassing but we have to know the compromising media accounts isnt as important. They are responsible for the strategy operations of significant campaigns around the world, including afghanistan. Sow can imagine the data and the intelligence and the communication and the information throughput from cent com out to the reaches of the united emirates which is where the afghanistan operation is run from. There will be information on those transmitters being to and forth, but social media will not contain that sensitive information. But it is embarrassing. It is a message. It is a way of the isis sympathizers, saying a message if you like. What is interesting, there are believed to be reports that this group are posting various sorts of information online. The classification of that information is yet to be known. But lets hope it is nothing more than unclassified. Michael, thank you very much. We appreciate it. And this come as president obama in washington stressed the need for better Cyber Security when it comes to hacking attacks an identity theft. And well continue to follow this breaking news story and bring you updates as we get them. Meanwhile, in paris, after last weeks terrorist attacks that left a total of 17 people dead, french Officials Say that the threat is still present. Here is the latest. Today the first wave of some 10,000 commit and military troops are being deployed into the streets of transto protect what officials are calling sensitive sites after three days of bloodshed last week. Right now police are still hunting for possible accomplices, including this woman, hayat, boumedienne, who participated in the attacks with her common law husband. And four victims attacked on friday have began their journey to israel. There will be a Funeral Service tomorrow. Netanyahu was among several World Leaders who converged on the french capital joining in with those who marched in unit against the threat of terrorism. Ron allen is live in paris. What is the mood in paris today and how visible is this hyped up security . Reporter well a little while ago, joy, i heard a bunch of sirens around the plaza here in the center of paris where we are. And over in that direction, there was a police operation, about a dozen officers stopping a man and questioning him. And now whether that is related to this new security stepup or not, i dont know. But i can tell you that being here in the middle of town for several days now, there has been a lot of police activity. They are concerned about trying to stop anything else that might be about to happen and people are on edge. There is some anxiety but it is a lot calmer here now than it was three or four days ago right after the attacks when there were still gunman at large and before the awful hostage situations that ended up in carnage and death. People are going to see more police on the streets. In the metro and subway and outside of sites like public buildings and tourist destinations and that is new for the people of france because in a society where people value their freedom and liberty and that is why so many people came out to the streets the other day and seen the attack on the newspaper as an attack on freedom of expression and basic liberties here. Civil liberties may be coming in the recent months and years because the Security Services here have to do Something Else to try and track the islamic radicals here as part of the society. That is one of the big problems here. That was exposed by these attacks. These were homegrown terrorists. They were people known to authorities but somehow there was an intelligent failure of some sort that let them slip through the cracks. A lot of attention will be focused on the Jewish Community. Well see, authorities say, more security at jewish schools and synagogues. Last year by some accounts there were as many as 7,000 jewish citizens of france who left to go back to israel and that is double the number of the Previous Year because of antisemitic attacks happening here, let alone what happened here a few days ago. So the Jewish Community feels under threat. People say that going out of their homes and going to school and businesses are acts of courage now and we would expect that there will be more people leaving in the weeks and months to come. And there have been meetings here to facilitate that that might be stepped up. On the other side of the equation the Muslim Community seems under siege. About 4. 5 million, 7 of the population the muslim communities feel under siege with attacks, threats, harassments and graffiti since the attacks on the magazine of the so that dynamic here also unfolding as france moves forward. Joy, back to you. Nbcs ron allen live in paris. Thank you. And coming up we will talk about why the white house now says it was a mistake not to send someone more highprofile to this weekends march in paris. Lets get a reid alort out of new mexico where two Albuquerque Police officers will face murder charges in the shooting death of a homeless man last march. Amanda joins us with more on the case. Tell bus this case. This is a very visceral case that came out of albuquerque, because we have the video to see how the officers handled the situation. The video was provided from an officers helmet camera where we see 38 jeermd jerome floyd who was homeless and he was in a standoff with police that lasted for hours and he is holding a knife and just when he is turning his back to them is when they open fire. They fired off a total of six shots on him. And in the video, after he falls to the ground, is when you see the police sick their police dog on him it. Was a visceral case that caused protests in albuquerque and puts into context where the shootings over Michael Browns death sparked a nerve with the public. The department of justice was already investigating the Albuquerque Police and a month after this shooting they issued a scathing report after a 16month long investigation finding they did use Excessive Force and even fatal force when not called for. Now the department is already seeking to bring in different reforms. But this is finally a bright light for those who seem kind of downtrodden on the idea that police are held accountable in these shootings. We have the prosecutors seeking an open murder charge which means they can get first or seconddegree murder charges against them and this comes after the grand jury decisions in both Michael Brown and eric garners case where we saw the grand juries decided not to bring any type of charges against the Police Officers responsible. So this is a now welcome start for policing reform. A very rare indictment of police. Well definitely be following to see how this case unfolds. Msnbc amanda sec yuma. Thank you very much. And later, the search for the suspected accomplice for the attacks in france and what we know about her. Plus more ahead on the social media hack of u. S. Central command. Why do i cook . Aleve, proven better on pain. Welcome back. While paris officials search for possible accomplices in the paris terrorist attacks, there are new clues about the whereabouts of Hayat Boumeddiene, the common law wife of the man who killed people at the kosher store in paris. It is believed she crossed into syria on thursday the day her husband allegedly shot a person to death. She is seen at the passenger control airport upon her arrival to turkey. From flash point global partners, leith, what do we know about Hayat Boumeddiene. Her name and image has been circulated around the world, here in the west and the middle east. Everybody is looking for her. Where is Hayat Boumeddiene . We have had conflicting reports from the turkish authorities. They are saying she already cossed into turkey and from there, she lost surveillance of her after she crossed out of turkey on her way, likely to syria. Now again, we cannot confirm her location being in syria. But if indeed, she arrived in syria, she will likely have a great welcome by a number of jihadi groups there. We know her common law husband Amedy Coulibaly carried out gruesome attacks in paris and later a video circulated of him online pledging allegiance to the Islamic State. So if she was his common law wife and she is in syria she will likely be hosted by people who likely are connected to the Islamic State or other radical factions there. And do we know leith, if Hayat Boumeddiene grew up muslim. There are pictures showing her hanging out with her common law husband wearing a bikini and over into full islamic dress with only the eyes showing. So you have the range in terms of her own social media of herself. Is she a convert . Do we know about her past life before being involved in this incident . She could have been muslim by name not a practitioner. But again, there has been cases where a number of females after they become radicalized after marrying or becoming acquainted with a radical, they immediately go into the alter religious and life and it appears Hayat Boumeddiene has followed that as a result likely as an influence from her common law husband Amedy Coulibaly. Thank you very much leith. Stick around because well talk about the global terrorist threat and including an attack by boko haram in nigeria. And now the white house said it was a mistake not to send someone to the rally in paris. There was questioned why secretary of state john kerry or eric holder who was in paris, didnt participate. White House Press Secretary josh earnest did talk about it moments ago. Some have asked whether or not the United States should have sent someone with a higher profile than the ambassador to france. And i think it is fair to say we should have sent someone with a higher profile to be there. And p. J. Crowley is a former assist secretary of state and now at the George Washington university. Thank you for being here. Thank you, joy. And put yourself in the mind of the house or state department as to why they wouldnt want to send a higher delegation or even the president himself to be part of the patina of those marching in paris. I think given the dramatic pictures and pictures we saw in paris and there should have been a picture of a leader from the u. S. Marching dramatically through the streets of the paris. I would add the Vice President to your list. There were four separate decisions here. For the president , it is difficult for the secret service to put together a spur of the moment trip of this nature. The secretary of state is in india preparing for president ial travel later this month. Eric holder was in paris and could have participated but he was not necessarily going to be in that picture being a cabinet official. To me the one that is a mystery is why we didnt send the Vice President to paris to be a part of this. That would have seemed to be the most logical. Lets talk about the other leaders that were there because there were political and National Implications and calculations by all of the leaders that decided to attend. Lets talk about israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu, who did attend. There were reports that the french leader did not initially want him to attend because they didnt want to include the palestinian issue in the situation. Let me read a piece i think by reuters. The Prime Ministers Office confirmed that france was opposed to the idea of the Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu attending the historic march in paris, believing it would be divisive as described. And that was in the times, not reuters. And Benjamin Netanyahu who is also up for reelection has some political implications does it not. Of course. You have in the same picture netanyahu and abbas, who have done business together and dont like each other very much and this occurs in the midst of a very significant political struggle over palestinian initiatives in the united nations. But also you have a gesture by the Russian Foreign minister and the ukrainian leader to be seen together. And i think that is that is one of the larger messages coming out of paris. And i think this is one of the reasons it was so powerful. And there is also there are always two sides to any picture and people see them in different ways through their own lenses and i noticed on social media there was a critique of the leaders that did stand there together critiques of their own history of free speech. Ill show you this cartoon circulating on social media that goes through point by point of the leaders on the front lines and the issues in their own countries and the Washington Post had an interesting report about hipypocrisyhypocrisy. It said despite the laudable show of unity, at home they stifle that very same free speech. So in a sense, did this picture of unity have a bit of a tark side when it comes to the activities within those own countries . Well i do think that it is appropriate for leaders to be seen as part of this and i think it is appropriate for a variety of countries to to condemn the violence that we saw tragically last week in paris. There is a broad need for a debate here. Particularly a debate within the islamic world and that is one of the questions going forward. We saw a dramatic display of unity, support for freedom of expression and a debate to try to delegitimize the religious justification for the violence that we saw last week. The real question is is that going to be joined in the islamic world. And one of those ironies is that on the same day that the french authorities moved against the perpetrators of these episodes you had a flogging in saudi arabia where a blogger trying to promote the very debate that is needed within the muslim world, hes given the first of 1,000 lashes. Hes been thrown in jail for ten years. And so you do have countries that are stifling the debate when in fact the message coming out of paris is you dont fight ideas with bullets, you fight ideas with more ideas. Indeed. A lot of ironies there. P. J. Crowley, thank you for being here. My pleasure. And stay with the the reid report as we continue to follow the hack of Central Command.
