Well start with the news. Today, the Electoral College is expected to make joe biden and Kamala Harris white house win official. The nations 538 president ial electors will meet in their separate states and the District Of Columbia to cast the votes that will seal Donald Trumps fate. Each elector will cast two ballots, one for president and one for Vice President. Biden and harris are expected to easily amass the 270 electoral votes needed to win. The first states begin voting at 10 00 a. M. Eastern. Biden is expected to deliver remarks on the vote around 8 00 p. M. Tonight. And the next step will come january 6th, when a joint session of congress meets to count those votes. That could put Vice President mike pence in a bit of an awkward spot, since its he in his role as president of the senate who formally announces the winners. President trump, meanwhile, is signaling hell continue to challenge the results of the 2020 election, even as his legal efforts fizzle out. In an interview with fox news that aired yesterday morning, trump repeated his false claims about Election Fraud and insisted his legal team will keep pursuing cases. Its not over. We keep going and were going to continue to go forward. We have numerous local cases in some of the states that got rigged and robbed from us. We won every one of them. We won pennsylvania. We won michigan. We won georgia by a lot. I worry about the country having an illegitimate president. Thats what i worry about. A president that lost and lost badly. This wasnt like a close election. Meanwhile, a small group of trump allies in the house of representatives is plotting another election challenge. The effort is being led by republican congressman mo brooks of alabama. Brooks is eyeing challenges to the Election Results in five different states where he and trumps loyalists claim varying degrees of fraud or illegal voting took place, despite there being no evidence and states, of course, already certifying their results. Also worth pointing out, we just heard the president s claims there. For the record, it wasnt a close election, and joe biden won said not very close election. But now to the best news, the great news that we have this morning, right now. The very first doses of pfizers Coronavirus Vaccine are on their way to hundreds of hospitals all across the country. Health care workers and nursing home residents are expected to get their very first shots today. Ive got to say, if you watched some of the sunday shows over the weekend and republicans were pressed about whether they were going to say, yes, hes president elect, it does not seem as though, even though weve hit this deadline, that it may matter very much to them. Yeah, and today is the first monday after the second wednesday in december. Usually, an uneventful culmination of the democratic process. But as you noted, today could stand to add yet another coffin of President Trumps stunningly unsuccessful legal battle to overturn the results of the election that joe biden decisively won. As you noted, and you talk to these people all the time on a consistent basis on capitol hill were not likely to see republican senators and lawmakers, members of the house, come out and, i think, decisively acknowledge joe biden as the president elect, but as one Senior Senate gop aide noted to me, we could see people acknowledge the end of the process. Expect to see a lot of responses like, the process has played out, the Electoral College has voted, its time to move on. But there are others who believe that today just marks another opportunity for republicans to light themselves on fire, as one other republican aide told me last night when we were discussing the path ahead. And thats because january 6th is really, i think, the end all, be all, the date, the next deadline that republicans are eyeing, especially that small group of backbench house members that you mentioned earlier, who are getting ready to front this process and challenging the states electoral votes, which is, again, a legal and constitutional longshot, but is something that is being discussed and could cast, you know, a shadow over bidens incoming presidency. And that, of course, would be potentially the moment that would force mike pence to declare in public that donald trump lost the election. And if mike pence, himself, wants to be president one day, well see how that moment plays out for him. But we still have the first storm to get through today. So, we have two storms on the map, one in the southeast. Thats the one today. Then this is the one that will eventually become the noreaster wednesdaythursday. So, lets talk about the wednesdaythursday storm. The model comparisons will be talking about this point. The european model, all that blue is a hefty snow from washington, d. C. , philly, new york, hartford, boston, all areas of interior new england and the midatlantic. The european model is the, by far, the heaviest with the snow. The american models a little more off the coast, which would keep the snow out of central new england and really confine it to areas a little further to the south. So, this is what were thinking right now for snowfall totals. This would be wednesday, ending thursday afternoon. That pink area, that would be the bulls eye. That would be the 8 to 14inch amounts. Thats areas just to the north and west from baltimore to harrisburg, north and west of philadelphia, same for the new york city area, back through the catskills and then through areas of lower portions of new england.
