There are no public speakers here signed up for this resolution. Do want to hear from our superintendent. Thank you president walton and commissioners i wanted to comment about the resolution and the guidance prosided to staff and families we agree with many of the value articulated in the resolution. Highlighted in the title are the principles of defending labor rights immigrant and civil rights certainly stand with the authors on all of those values i want to say for clarification we have communicated as we have done in previous unexcused absences in terms of guidance to staff we with respect the rights of staff to take personal time off to participate in this action at the same time we also are concerned about adequate and safe coverage of our classroom andish youd guidance to our school sites with both of those interests in mind. We do have some reports several of our sites are expecting high absences that does give us some concern. We want and will take every step to provide adequate coverage deploying our staff as needed. Depending on the extent of the planned absences we are somewhat concerned about our ability to do that and we ask all of our staff to register their intentions, to be absent and request substitutes i just want to remind our community about those fundamental interests of protecting or school and student safety in voicing the personal beliefs that people have. Thank you. Thank you. Superintendent lee. Any comments from colleagues . Commissioner haney. I want to thank commissioners walton and sanchez for bringing this forward. I respect superintendent lees points on the impact in some of our schools sol of the schools have done with Large National demonstrations is organize teaching and ways to engage students ways around participating in different ways and learning and supporting the general cause. At least learning about it. Notten couraging Political Action in any type of way that is inappropriate. But using it as a teaching moment and having ways that our School Communities to engage we should encourage that and with their rights however they can with your guidance but think about ways our teacher and students and community can participate if they so choose where appropriate. I want to encourage that as well. Vice president mendozamcdonnell. I wanted to thank you my colleagues for bringing this resolution of support. Its very troubling time and we need to do all we can to protect our students, our families and so many of those who make up our beautiful city. I respectfully to have all of our names put on this resolution its an important resolution that speaks to our School District wholeheartedly and would make sense for us to be able to all demonstrate our support. Add the commissioners the immigrant and labor families and everybody under attack in this administration and put our best foot forward to show solidarity in this fight against solidarity with that said, in comments from colleagues or superintendent roll call.
