The bulk of this crowd now estimated probably between 600 and 800 people rough estimate has moved here to the corner of 15th street and jfk boulevard. The speakers who are out here earlier just finished and now it appears that at least some of this crowd is going to be moving through the streets of philadelphia. If we can spin around here j. R. , we can take a look just at the size of the crowd that were talking about. Certainly this is not unmanageable for philadelphia police, but something that will impact the commute home for thousands of people in the center city area. Again, the rough estimates were hearing out here is a crowd of about 600 to 800. Its not clear if all of them will be taking to the streets. Right now, im kind of looking past our camera. You can see the crowd behind me. It appears that the organizers at the front are trying to come up with some plan as they begin what will apparently be a march through some of the streets here. About an hour and a half of speakers harping on some now common themes about racial inequality and economic inequality, but, again, the very latest is what appears to be the start of a march still getting organized right here at the corner of 15th street and jfk boulevard. It will be impacting traffic for anybody whos headed out there. We will be keeping an eye on it. For now, it seems that police have this mostly under control. It looks like theyve left or at least a part of this group has left city hall walking through center city right now. Again, carrying banners. This again, is in solidarity with what took place in baltimore. The Peaceful Demonstrations that over the past few days have taken place in baltimore. Weve been covering this now for 90 minutes and this has been a peaceful protest as the mayor said. This is about people exercising their First Amendment rights. And you see Police Officers on bicycles alongside the protesters moving along right there with them again as renee said a peaceful demonstration here. As we talk about why theyre demonstrating, philly is baltimore is the local protesters message. Baltimore police say by the way, nearly 100 of their officers have been injured since monday nights violence. Police have handed over their investigation now of the freddie gray investigation to the maryland state attorney. A prosecutor will decide whether the officers will be charged with grays death. In other news now, new at 6 00, an infant is left alone inside a parked car and a Camden CountyPolice Officer smashes the window to make the rescue. The officer spotted the baby this morning in a car parked in front of a cvs store. She used her flashlight to shatter the window and get the baby out of the hot car. See glass still on ground. The officer tells nbc 10 the 5monthold was crying and sweating profusely. She says the boys mother told her she went inside the cvs for two seconds. Were looking at an infant baby. Okay . Were looking at the surrounding area. You know . One second two second its too long for an infant. The child is at Cooper University hospital and is expected to be okay. The babys mother is charged with child endangerment. No matter who it is he still did it he has to suffer the consequences. And an update now on a story we first told you about some two weeks ago. Police at the jersey shore say theyve solved the vandalism spree and one of the suspects is the son of the towns mayor. The culprits bragged about their work on social media posting photos and videos.
