Police are searching for the men who broke into a northeast philadelphia home and robbed the people inside. Nbc 10s matt delucia is live in northeast philly this morning. Matt tell us what youve learned. Rosemary, police right now are holding this scene as the manhunt continues this hour. Right behind me you can see the apartment in question. The window was kicked out during the getaway. And were at the brookshire trace apartments. Lets take a look at some video we have of this scene. Police tell me just before 2 30 this morning three men came to this home and kicked in the front door. Then they went upstairs and robbed three people inside. And when officers got here, they heard glass breaking and the men jumped out the window. We did speak with a neighbor out here who said, he heard the commotion, grabbed his gun, and went outside. I heard the window smashed, so i grabbed my sidearm, ran out back saw two gentleman jump out the back of a window, and i heard two officers flash their sirens at me they asked me who i was, i told them i had a sidearm, they disarmed me they were very polite. Reporter police found a bandanna and some cell phones one right there on the sidewalk. They also found some footprints leading into the woods. One of the bushes snagged the hat off of one of the men. There is some evidence out here. And police tell me they are questioning a person of interest, someone that was pulled over for acting suspicious. But so far no connection and no arrest. Detectives are getting a search warrant to go through this home. Theyre trying to figure out exactly what was stolen and as for a Motive Police tell me the homeowner may have been targeted for recently coming into money and posting about it online. The investigation, of course is still very much underway. But fortunately, no injuries as a result of this Home Invasion and robbery early this morning. Live in the northeast section of philadelphia, matt delucia, nbc 10 news. New from overnight, Philadelphia Police are looking for a suspect wanted in a different Home Invasion. This one happened in tacony. Investigators say the robber had a gun when he got into the house along edmonds street. Its unclear if he got away with anything. Nobody was hurt. Also new from overnight, Philadelphia Police are investigating a driveby shooting. This happened outside of a party. Police tell us that a man was standing by the door of the house on rohrer street in kensington around 10 30 last night when he was shot in the shoulder. Right now, he is in stable condition. Police have not made my arrests in this case. We just received new information about a developing story moments ago. Police have arrested a 17yearold boy in connection with that shooting at a mall in western pennsylvania. Weve been telling you about this since early this morning. This happened inside the Monroeville Mall just before 8 00 last night. The mall is just east of pittsburgh. Three people were hit by gunfire. Two of the victims were taken to the hospital with critical injuries. The third is in stable condition. Police say the shooter targeted one of the victims, but investigators have not released further investigation. We did speak to one witness by phone, who told us what it was like inside the mall when the shooting started. Everybody kind of put it together. People started running. Someone said someone has a gun, or they started shooting. You started hearing sirens police cars started showing up. The suspect is now being held at the Allegheny County jail, awaiting arraignment. The trial is set to begin this week for the philadelphia man accused of gunning down another person over a pair of headphones. Arkel garcia is facing several charges, including murder. Police say he gunned down 21yearold Christian Massey in november 2013 in the citys overbrooke neighborhood. Massey had special needs and was an athlete. He was walking to a friends house when investigators say garcia tried to steal his beats by dr. Dre headphones. Massey refused to hand them over and was shot several times. This morning, were waiting to hear if there is a confirmed case of measles on Montgomery County. On friday, you may remember that Health Officials announced that a 15yearold boy in Montgomery County is expected of having the disease. The teen is isolated at home until those test results come back. They are expected some time either today or tomorrow. Just as tax season is underway, we are learning about the owners of a tax preparation business in Mercer County who have been convicted in a scam. According to federal prosecutors, kamal james and crystal hawkins filed fake returns on behalf of prison inmates. They ran their nowclosed business out of brick, new jersey, and seaver delaware. The couple would file false information in order to get a bigger refund back. They were arrested in an undercover sting and convicted on friday. The couple will be sentenced in may. It could have been a tax nightmare. A philadelphia couple may have saved dozens of people from Identity Theft and other problems after they found a stack of w2s just littered in the street. Yvette santiago and her husband found the documents near their yard in wissinoming. The tax return showed peoples names, Social Security numbers dates of birth, and employment information, including their salaries. We took the papers to a tax expert, who is in disbelief. He tells us those affected are lucky that the santiagos are honest people. Responsible for getting out there, because as a preparer youve got a responsibility to make sure that this information doesnt get out. The next step is figuring out how this happened and who is responsible. We plan to follow up with the irs tomorrow when they are open for business. Residents are now dealing with serious flooding, power outages, and even mud slides and more rain is expected in the coming days. This morning, all systems are go for nasas launch of a space Weather Satellite. A Spacex Falcon rocket will launch deep space observatory. Liftoff is scheduled for just after 6 00 tonight. Discover will attempt to monitor solar wind and realtime energy streaming from the sun. Spacex will then try to land a rocket on a platform in the atlantic ocean. Last month, a similar attempt failed, so hopefully theyll get it this time. Right now, rescue crews in taiwan are searching for the final few passengers in the river where that trans asiaways Airways Plane crashed. What tool theyre using to track them down. If you want it go out and get it we have some new information in the deadly trans asia plane crash in taiwan. Officials say that a total of 40 people have now been found dead. The airline has begun distributing money to their families to cover funeral expenses. Three people remain missing. Crews are now using metal detectors in that search. They hope that the remaining bodies may have metal on them, like necklaces or watches. The jet crashed into the river here minutes after takeoff on wednesday. This is new video out of baghdad, where people are celebrating an end to a nightly curfew thats been in place for a decade. More pilots are joining the fight against isis. The United Arab Emirates is sending a squadron of jet fighters to join jordanian f16s. Dozens of fighter jets have bombed isis Training Centers and weapon Storage Centers this week after the Group Released a video showing a captured jordanian pilot being burned to death. Meanwhile, the family of an american aid worker captured by isis remains hopeful that their daughter is still alive. On friday, isis leaders claimed that 26yearold Kayla Mueller was killed in a Jordanian Air strike in syria, but the Obama Administration says there is still no evidence to support that claim and extra resources are still being directed to find her. Isis took mueller hostage in august 2013 as she was leaving a hospital where she was an aid worker. Federal prosecutors in chicago have charged a group of immigrants living in the u. S. With aiding isis. One of the six people appeared in federal court in chicago yesterday. The group is accused of sending money and military equipment to rebel groups in syria. Today, the leaders of germany and france will talk with russian president Vladimir Putin over the phone. The announcement comes just days after williams apologized for falsely saying on the air that he was in a helicopter that was hit by a rocketpropelled grenade in iraq back in 2003. Eddy ruth is facing capital murder charges in the death. Hes accused of killing kyle and his friend chad littlefield, at a gun range two years ago. Ruths lawyers are expected to argue that Mental Illness is to blame for the killings. The trial is expected to start on wednesday. Lets head now to california, where police say there is no indication that the paparazzi was chasing reality tv star bruce jenner at the time that he was involved in a deadly crash. Jenner was not hurt in the multiplecar accident in malibu yesterday. However, another driver died.
