Meteorologist Michelle Grossman is tracking the weekend weather for us. Today is a real turnaround from yesterday. Very different. Very, very different. Almost opposite. Yesterday we had the rain. All day long it was mild. Today were bringing back the sunshine, but it is cold, it is windy. Blustery as we head throughout this sunday. There is that sunshine. We are looking from our Adventure Aquarium camera. Temperatures are cold right now, much colder than this time yesterday. Just 27 right now. 37 in millville. 38 degrees in atlantic city. We also had the winds in place. The big headline, the cold air and the winds. Winds gusting near 32 Miles Per Hour. In millville. A windy afternoon. And a windy night also. By 11 00, 40 degrees. Up to 46 later on this afternoon. So well talk more about the cold weather today and we are tracking that coastal storm for tuesday. Well talk about that coming up. New this morning, philadelphia fire crews responded to a small highrise fire at 20th and market streets in center city this morning. Crews had the flames under control by around 6 00. Authorities tell us nobody was hurt and no one had to evacuate from the building. Also this morning, Philadelphia Police are investigating an incident in which a cop shot a dog that attacked the officer during a domestic disturbance call. Nbc 10 was on the scene where police tell us it happened around 6 45 this morning. Animal control took dog in for medical help. Were in contact with them for updates on the dogs condition. The effort to find missing College StudentShane Montgomery will move to lincoln financial field today where the eagles play the Seattle Seahawks this afternoon. Before the game, volunteers will hand out leaflets spreading their message and hoping to turn up clues in the search. Shane montgomery was last seen at a manayunk bar early thanksgiving morning, 11 days ago. His family and friends say theyre not giving up their search. A reward for information is now up to 50,000. There are fliers and ribbons posted all over town. His mother is hoping that somebody will come forward with clues. If money is an incentive for somebody to help, then i would go to the ends of the earth to come up with anything. I just need that one courageous person to come forward with information about shane. The family says volunteers will be passing out the leaflets with shanes information at the link as early as 11 00 this morning. After todays eagles game, protesters plan to block broad and pattison streets in south philadelphia. Theyll be holding a solidarity diein, similar to the ones that you see right here. The demonstrators are planning to lie down in the intersection at broad and pattison to express their frustration over the grand jury decision not to indict Police Officers in the deaths of Michael Brown in ferguson, missouri, and eric garner in new york. Last night in california, two Police Officers were hurt during a civil rights protest. Officials say demonstrators angered by the grand jury decision threw things at police in berkley. Police used tear gas and smoke bombs to clear the crowd. Officials also say the demonstrators smashed windows and looted businesses. Despite the damage, there are no reports of any arrests. I cant breathe i cant breathe in other cities across the country yesterday, the protests took a more peaceful tone. Thousands took to the streets from new york to marietta, georgia, for a fourth straight day. The protesters are calling attention to what they say is excessive use of force by police. Moderator chuck todd will be joined by Law Enforcement experts, including Philadelphia Police commissioner Charles Ramsey and payor michael nutter. Today in delaware, firefighters will pay their final tribute to a teenage comrade. Britney ford died friday after she was hit bay car while walking in the road. She was just 17 years old. Britney volunteered with the Bowers Fire Company in kent county. A memorial procession is set this morning. Also authorities are offering a 10,000 reward to find the arsonist wanted in three church fires. The flames you see here gutted the Healing HandsChristian Church in felton last week. The other two church fires happened within hours of this one in felton. Anybody with information can call the atf or delaware state police. This weekend, a Chester County community pulled together to rise from the ashes, so to speak, after vandals targeted a holiday tradition. Every year, phoenixville holds a fire bird festival at friendship field. A giant wooden phoenix statue was burned as part of the ceremony, but yesterday morning, the morning of the big celebration, arsonists got to it first and burned that phoenix to ash. But neighbors didnt let that ruin the day. They brought palettes of wood and built a brandnew statue in just a few hours. We all come together, things happen, we all get together, we make it work. Nobody can burn us down. My heart has been filled with the overwhelming wholeheartedness and joy of what our community is all about. At the end of the day, organizers set the phoenix ablaze. As for the suspected vandals, police tell nbc 10 that they do have some leads and that finding those responsible is a big priority for the department. We have an alert now for drivers in philadelphia. The Philadelphia Water Department has shut down part of montgomery drive in Fairmount Park to repair a broken water main. Both directions are closed between Martin Luther king drive and the schuylkill expressway. The closures is from now until about 4 00 this afternoon. Today, ceremonies across the country will honor the lives lost in the attack on pearl harbor. There was a Memorial Ceremony just a short time ago on the battleship new jersey in camden. Organizers cast a wreath into the Delaware River, and the band played taps. This is the 73rd anniversary of the attack on pearl harbor. On this day in 1941, japanese home planes attacked the home port of the u. S. Pacific fleet. About 2,400 americans were killed and another 1,200 were wounded. Because of the attack, the United States entered world war ii. To commemorate todays anniversary, thousands of people are expected to gather at pearl harbor in hawaii. Thats what were following this morning. Police tell us a person was struck by a vehicle while trying to help another driver who had crashed their car. New this morning overseas, militants in iraq attacked a Police Station north of baghdad, killing at least nine people, including five Police Officers. 11 other people were wounded. A suicide car bomber hit the blast wall surrounding the Police Station, then armed militants staged an assault. Todays attack came one day after a string of bombings targeted shiite areas around baghdad, killing ten people. Also this morning, an afghan official says a suspected u. S. Drone strike has killed nine alleged Pakistani Taliban fighters. The strike hit late yesterday in a rural village near the border between the two countries. The taliban had not commented yet about this strike. Outgoing defense secretary chuck hagel says the u. S. Will keep a larger force in afghanistan in early 2015 than initially planned. Hagel made the announcement during a surprise visit to kabul yesterday. He met with the afghan president and u. S. Military commanders over there. Hagel says the u. S. Force will top 10,000 troops, about a thousand more than first announced. U. S. Officials have sent six prisoners held at Guantanamo Bay for the last 12 years to uruguay. The men will be resettled there as refugees. The u. S. Detained them as suspected militants with ties to al qaeda, but they were never charged. Only 136 inmates remain at gitmo, which is the lowest number since the prison opened in 2002. This morning, the white house is vowing justice for the terrorists who murdered american hostage luke somers during a failed u. S. Raid in yemen. U. S. Officials say somers and a South African hostage were killed by al qaeda militants. Al qaeda kidnapped somers last year. The Officials Say more than three dozen special forces members, including navy seals, took part in yesterdays raid ordered by president obama. They landed about two miles away from the objective, and then infiltrated to try to keep the element of surprise. But once the firefights started, it would appear that al qaeda shot the two hostages. I dont think the government had an option. I think president obama did the right thing. He went in and tried to save this poor fellows life. Somers was a photo journalist. He was born in britain, but attended college in wisconsin and was an american citizen. U. S. Officials say that some al qaeda militants died in the raid, but no u. S. Service members were injured. We have some new video this morning of a confrontation between a Police Officer and a woman under arrest. These pictures were taken in seattle back in the summer in june. Watch as the officer punches the handcuffed woman in the face after she aimed a kick at him. An incar Police Camera captured this scene. The woman says that the punch broke a bone around her eye. A lawyer for the officer says that the officer did what he needed to do. That officer has been placed on leave, but a prosecutor there does not believe that the officer will face criminal charges.
