The fifth grader told police that man, 54yearold kenneth miley, is charged with weapon. A violent robbery at an Upper West Side hotel and still on the loose. Reporter maurice, the Hotel Employees here say these armed suspects were able to avoid being caught on camera by sneaking into this unlocked cellar door and now the nypd says those suspects are still out there. Employees were escorted out of the rodeway inn on west 71st street near Central Park West this morning into waiting emergency vehicles. Police s they were pistol whipped during an Armed Robbery inside. Neighbors witnessing the scene are disturbed by the string of events surrounding this hotel. Until recent another named inn. There was a Sexual Assault a few months ago and other incidents. Was taking my son to school. So very, very concerned. Reporter a hotel worker tells us the suspects wearing ski masks entered this unlocked door leading into the basement turned off the electric panel cutting power to lights and security cameras inside. Thats very scary. They shouldnt have this door and where are the cameras . They should have cameras on the building, too,. Three Hotel Employees walked down into the breaker room to check the outage. Police say they were confronted by two armed suspects. After striking the workers with the gun, the robbers grabbed their cell phones, wallets and watches. Its unclear if the robbers got into the safe. They then ran down west 71st street towards central park an escape neighbors say makes their block an easy target. Quick access to the subway. Police tonight searching for two people after a wild fight and an illegal club in washington heights. Police say two people were stabbed and three others slashed at this underground bar on amsterdam avenue near west 171st street this morning. Investigators believe the fight was over an unpaid gambling debt. Residents say the unmarked club is a known gaming hot spot surrounded by suspicious activity. Activities, weird activities there. I just keep my eyes away from that. What kind of weird activities. People loitering, going out, a lot of people. Late at night. Previous complaints against the Unlicensed Club include illegal gambling. Residents say a merger of precincts has increased crime. The acting commissioner says crime has gone down and they have saved money. Cbs 2s ilana gold has more. Four years ago when these precincts were going to be merged i said this is a spectacularly bad idea. Its still the same four years later. Cuss costs the merger of the 6th and 3rd precincts. We were told it was going to be a money saving move and we have yet to see that proven. Reporter four years later Law Enforcement, resident and leaders are fed up and at a rally today outside the former sixth precinct they said they want the union dissolved. Burglaries are on the rise. You have heroinrelated crimes that are also on the rise. Reporter the town of north hempstead supervisor Judi Bosworth says the merger is spreading the already taxed officers too thin citing increased in crime including burglaries. The people of both precincts deserve to be protected and a quality of life enhanced by feeling safe in your own home. Reporter but the acting Police Commissioner disagreed. This departments models are beyond reproach. Crime has been reduced since anybody who says theres been any impact on this is either misinformed or disingenuous. Reporter at a press conference scheduled at the same time of the rally, he says theres been no reduction in staffing with the mergers and crime in the county is down.
