In talking to madison local schools superintendent Curtis Philpot this first day back went about as well as it could have the Butler County Sheriffs Office had an increased presence here today and counselors were available for kids who needed to talk today an orderly dismissal as kids filed out the front of the schoola far cry from what it must have been like as kids ran out in the confusion of mondays gunfire perhaps the most difficult time today was the 8th grade lunch which is when the shooting happened came down to eat with the 8th graders in the cafeteria there were therapy dogs available for kids to pet but the extra presence of deputies was perhaps the most notable difference that could be seen from the outside superintendent Curtis Philpot madison local schools trt 21 this week weve got an increased security presence moving forward i definitely want to increase our security presence i dont know if it will be as strong as it was today weve got four officers in the building today and on the campus today we usually have one and id like to find something in between those two perhaps moving forward i dont know how long term that will be but that is definitely a conversation that well have. Breaking news right now at Wyoming High School where a threat from a student led to extra security on campus today. The nows Briana Harper joins us live with what she has just learned from police. The spokesperson for wyoming city schools tells me the student who made that threat has been arrested, however we have yet to learn the exact afternoon and School Officials tell us it turned out to be a very normal, traditional day here at Wyoming High School. When officials at wyoming city schools caught wind of a verbal threat made by a single student they took action. Susanna max, wyoming city schools spokesperson multiple emails also sharing information via facebook so were working as diligently as possible to continue the investigation and keep parents informed. Police wouldnt elaborate much only saying it was a verbal threat and it was made against a specific target, not the student body. They also say no weapons were involved. As a precaution Additional Police presence remained on the School Campus throughout the day. A relief for one teacher whos also a concerned parent. Don furlong, High School Teacher parent i obviously feel the same way because my own daughter goes here we rode in together this morning and i would not have had her come here if i didnt think it was safe. The School District says the student in question was not at school todayand now faces serious disciplinary consequences. The district plans to continue classes as no word yet if the student involved will face any criminal charges. The wyoming police are continuing to investigate. Today marked the first day for a new support group for people who witness crimes in Hamilton County. County. The program will help support and empower those witnesses to come forward. The resources will mostly be aimed at people who witness homicides and violent crimes. But it means those people will have access to therapy, relocation and transportation volunteers are needed to keep the program going. The fourth streetcar is in cincinnati. It rolled into otr today.
