That theft happened back in march. The Sheriffs Department is working with the department of criminal investigations to trace the gun using its serial number. The sherman park unrest isnt the first time protests in milwaukee have turned violent. Nearly 50 years ago. People were killed and buildings burned during the 1967 riots. Fox6s Ben Handleman joins us live in the newsroom compare . Those riots in 1967 spanned several miles of the city and last around five days. And it wasnt just milwaukee. Similar riots were happening all across the country that summer. Take a look at video we pulled from our archives. Like today. Buildings were set on fire. Businesses were looted. And gunfire rang out. Unlike today. Four people were killed. More than 100 injured. And 15 thousand arrested in 1967. 50 caliber machine guns mounted on the half tracks to keep us out of the street, to enforce curfew. Thats how bad it was. Woods body was found, shot, in her car near 28th and clarke. Deanthony bradley, william rounds, jeremiah flowers, and anton mukes are charged in connection to woods death last month. According to a criminal complaint, Deanthony Bradley pointed a gun at her head with bradley told police when the victim tried to drive away the gun went off killing her.
