From overnight the search is on for a suspect involved in a hit and run. It happened near capitol and atkinson around 1 30 this morning. Maroon or red four door vehicle. The man is being treated for nonlife threatening injuries. Well continue to monitor this story throughout the day. A student is injured. After a bullet grazes her in the middle of the school day. Now police are trying to figure out how an officers gun went off at thoreau elementary. It happened yesterday afternoon. Police say the supervisor of the schools resource officers was trying to speak with the 13yearold female student about an incident that occurred thats when the girl became physically combative. His firearm, while still in the holster discharged. It appears to be some sort of accident. Were still working on, just a freak occurrence. The girl was hospitalized for nonlifethreatening injuries. Police say the incident took place in the basement of the school away from other students and staff members. Since police are still incident is not being investigated as an officer involved shooting. Because of that the officer is not being placed on any kind of leave. Students at st. Catherine high school in racine were sent home early yesterday after a concerning message was found on a desk. As a precaution the principal dismissed classes early and police were called to search the building. Authorities have not said exactly what was written on the desk. The death of an inmate at Milwaukee County jail is rul the cause of his death . Dehydration. Terrill thomas was found dead in his cell back in april. He was arrested less than two weeks earlier on charges of shooting a man outside his home then firing a gun inside potowatomi casino.
