but overall i dont think its going to complicate you too much and not for too long. basically about half an inch to an inch later on this morning burt it is a quick moving system and will move out. one thing taking a long time to move these temperatures. we just made it20 degrees for a for elyria. heres how it breaks down by the noontime hour all of us are at or above freezing. well get rid of the snow through midday. im tracking a late day chance for flurries to move in mainly along the lake shore. by the 5 00 hour most of us should be well into the middle 30s. were looking pretty good this monday morning. president s day. remember its going to be a light traffic day. or were anticipating it to be light because the kids are out of school and a lot of people dont have to go to work this morning. heres a picture on 77 at grant avenue as youre coming into and out of downtown. again, wet roads, so watch for that. and for those of you who take the east shoreway into downtown heres a picture at dead mans curve and everyone getting by just fine. coming up, well take like at the drive to the west. the mayor of madison village in lake county wants to shut down the Police Department and use a neighboring communitys police force. find out more about this will ujek joins us monday is the issue here. reporter he said after the revenues went flat in state cuts that the budget is just over 1 million. thats not enough to get all the work done. they have three fulltime police officers. the rest of that work being done by parttime officers as well as nearby madison township covering the duties on the weekends. in an open letter the mayor said his Police Department is already understaffed they would need six more officers which would cost 800,000 or 70 of the budget. they already have a police tax he wants to dissolve the Police Department partner with madison township full time. he says that would save 100,000. some residents are concerned worth what the changes could mean. my certain is my concern is that the township if they merge is way by the lake which is im guessing 4 miles away. which would take some time if we place a call. reporter we werent able to reach the mayor or police chief but were going to continue to follow this story. a lorain man under arrest for shooting a dog several times. the morning journal reports it started with an argument over a 5dollar bet in a card game. 31yearold man is accused of firing several shots at the dog inside its cage. then threatening other people with the gun. the dog had to be put down. johnson is in the lorain city jail. officials continue to investigate a deadly crash yesterday morning. Brooklyn Police say it happened wrong way. a 48yearold man was driving east in the westbound lanes of i 480 killing a 20yearold woman. the other driver is en the hospital no word on his condition the part of the highway was shut down. so far we have no information on charges against the driver. later this morning Metro Health Medical Center opens a new Emergency Department in university heights. starting at 8 00 a. M. the Health Center at severance circle will offer 24 hour Emergency Care 7 days a week. trauma cases will be handled at the main campus. another er will open in parma brecksville. the morning news feed. reporter former president george w. Snow flurries and bring back a chance later on tonight. future view breaks it down this way. 6 00 doesnt look too bad. warm front, moisture will bring that midnight hour and into tuesday morning. depending upon track, this could be all snow, and for some could even pass to the east and could be smaller accumulations but right now were going with anywhere between one and 4 inches by wednesday morning. so for most of us getting back into the routine temperatures should stabilize pretty seasonable levels. so for today were look at a forecast that takes us to the middle range to upper 30s by late day. then looking at the extended forecast with the southerly wind to pull in a little bit more moisture but i think well hold off on the rain opportunity until we get to friday. look at the 40s moving in. once we hit the 40s i think its going to look like a pretty decent weekend. were looking ate pretty good commute. we take a look to the south and 77, u. They chatted the more they enjoyed the class. lets talk about this one. expect more fallout from the u unexpected death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. republicans are insisting that president barack obama hold off and let the next president name a successor. but were already hearing some of the names that who the replacement could be. tracie potts following the developments this morning from washington. reporter were going to show you some of those possible replacements but this is really between the president and republicans. already replacing scalia could tilt the balance of this court and republicans are concerned about that because there are still some key issues outstanding. i plan to fulfill my Constitutional Responsibilities to nominate a successor. reporter the white house says that wont happen this week while congress is on break but with flags at half staff were already seeing possible candidates mentioned to replace Justice Antonin Scalia. thats his prerogative he has every right to do it. thats his prerogative but we dont have to confirm him and we wont. reporter theyre in the midlands of the term and more cases to hear between now and without conservative scalia cases could end up in a tie t funding no parental conservative person. reporter dem cats insist the country should not have to wait nearly a year for the next decide. he was elected. he has the right to nominate another Supreme Court justice. i dont think the public will look kindly on republican actions to try to thwart what he is supposed to be able to do. reporter now, t republicans not only battling the president theyre battling each other, too. this brand new ad out by ted cruz hes running it in South Carolina. and in this ad he argues that iffy lect donald trump cant be trusted to select the next Supreme Court justice because he believes Donald Trumps record is too close to clinton and sanders and the democrats. the fighting is going to get fierce. you know, im also reminded that Justice David souder became more liberal over time so you never really know what youre really going to get. but lets talk about the possible nominees on both sides of the party who are they . reporter well, for example, Sri Srinivasan and he is on the yorker called him a nominee in waiting. previously unanimously confirmed by this Republican Senate two years ago. so thats the one who they think they might be able to get through. there are others who have had republican support on that court and others. for example, paul watt out of california. the california judge is african american. there is a woman, so clearly theyre looking atdy vessity here. but you brought u up a really good point for people who dont have much of a record, sometimes that can be tricky because they cant really get a sense of whether theyre leaning more liberal or conservative and as you noted souder was one of those. fascinating to watch. pope francis continues his trip in mexico today. he visits a southern part of the country. but yesterday he celebrated mass for hundreds of thousands mexico city. the pope spoke out against the drug trade and associated violence. its essential its a central theme t.
