Blown away. The bounce house gone with the wind. One of these bounce houses went airborne. Kids taken for terrifying the Young Witness reliving a very close call. I was covering my eyes when it happened. And wildfires. Parched conditions sparking blazes in florida. Quickly raging out of control. Plumes of smoke taking over the sky. Helicopters called in to help. N. The desperate struggle to get the upper hand. Everybody. Were so glad you could join us. President trump is waking up to fresh signs that his strike against syria is not stopping the regime there from carrying out more attacks against its own people. New video. This is the same air base that was hit by 59 american tomahawk missiles. Seemingly now up and running with war planes back up in the air. There are reports of fresh air strikes against the same town hit by chemical weapons. That horrifying attack that moved President Trump to action. Here are the other things we know this morning. The president is treating out his defense as to why the u. S. Military did not take out the runways at that air base. All this as were getting seemingly mixed messages from Administration Officials about whether the strike against syria represents a significant change in the administrations policy. Are we aiming for regime change or not . We have Team Coverage this morning. George is standing by. We start with Alex Marquardt on the ground in beirut. Alex, good morning to you. Reporter good morning, dan. Good morning, paula. Thats right. The assad regime showing its business as usual in syria. Carrying out bombing runs. Launching planes from that base that was struck. This morning, a new statement from president assad saying the u. S. Failed in achieving the goal behind this attack. This morning, new reports and video of a bombing in idlib province. The same area that the chemical attack took place. The regime showing it is perhaps undeterred after the strikes at the air base. With new images of syrian soldiers carrying out preflight maintenance. Checking Weapons Systems and directing aircraft on to the taxi way as pilots take off from the runway, still in tact after the 59 american tomahawk cruise missiles rained down on the airfield. President trump defending the targeted strike, tweeting the reason you generally dont hit runways is they are easy and inexpensive to quickly fix. And praising what he called the syria attack. According to the pentagon, plane took off with a deadly nerve agent used in tuesdays chemical attack that killed more than 80 people in khan shaykhun. Perhaps none of the images more stirring. The one of this man, holing his two lifeless 9monthold twins. He went house to house trying to rescue neighbors and family. But then passed out. I took too long, he said. I rescued everyone else. But i couldnt rescue you. On this week, secretary of state Rex Tillerson tells George Stephanopoulos hell confront russia, syrias main backer, about the full removal of assads chemical weapon arsenal. At a minimum, russia hasnt done enough because the chemicals are still there. And the russians are still on that base. I dont draw conclusions of complicity at all. Clearly, they have been incompetent. But perhaps they have been outmaneuvered by the syrians. Reporter this, as the Trump Administration seemingly does an about face, now calling for president assads removal. Regime change is something we thing is going to happen. Reporter asked if hell order more strikes. He wont stop here. If he needs to do more, hell do more. Reporter the line seems to be back at conventional bombing is tolerable. Chemical bombing is not. Theyre keeping their options open. A huge question, Alex Marquardt on the ground for us. Thank you. We turn to reports of turmoil inside the white house and friction between two key advisers. Sources tell abc news that after a slew of negative headlines, the president sharply told his feuding team members to quote work it out. That apparently led to a sitdown meeting between President Trumps chief strategist, steve ban non. And the powerful first soninlaw jared kushner. Abcs david wright is in palm beech near the president s maralago resort. David, good morning. Reporter good morning, dan. This may be the most successful weekend yet for the president. A huge moment for an administration with a few stumbles. Yet, instead of the focus being on the missile strikes, the china summit, or even the swearing in of a new Supreme Court justice, the focus today is on infighting. Sources tell abc news President Trump was forced to step in to cool down a clash between two of his closest aides. Just as he was hosting a summit with chinas president. And planning the missile strikes in syria, trump reportedly confronted his top aides over infighting between chief strategist steve bannon and soninlaw and Senior Adviser jared kushner. During the campaign, kushner and bannon were allies. Sources tell abc news their relationship has soured over ideological differences. Kushner pushing closer engagement with the world. Bannon advocating america first. The white house now says the president ordered the two to sit down friday and work this out so they can move forward on the president s agenda. The meeting, brokered by white house chief of staff reince priebus. The white house denies any imminent shakeup. I think we have shaken them up. But i think we have had one of the most successful 13 weeks in the history of president s. Reporter this past week, bannon lost his place on the National Security council. A move approved by the president and endorsed by kushner. Multiple sources tell abc news that after that bannon threatened to resign. He denies that and calls it absurd. Dan . Paula . Thank you, david. We want to talk more about those relationships and bring in George Stephanopoulos, who will host this week later this morning. Good morning, guys. Good morning to you, george. We want to talk about the interview with secretary of state Rex Tillerson in just a moment. First and foremost, reports that the president told kushner and bannon to work it out. Is this normal growing pains early on in an administration . All white houses have shakeups in the first several months. I was part of one. Heres the difference. When you look at the three people in that meeting yesterday, reince priebus, steve bannon and jared kushner, they all three represent very different sides of donald trump who has not been a man or candidate of fixed ideology. You have reince priebus, the establishment republican. Steve bannon, the fiery altright nationalist. And jared kushner, a democrat. And has supported democrats in the past. As donald trump has. And so the stakes here are very, very high. Its not just a personal nalty clash. Its about the direction of the white house. Will they be able to work it out . As we saw in Alex Marquardts piece, a few moments ago, you sat down with secretary of state Rex Tillerson. Lets listen to more. It sounds like from what youre saying right now, there is no real change in the United States military stance toward syria from what it was last week. Thats correct, george. This strike, i think the president was very clear in his message to the american people, this strike was related solely to the most recent, horrific use of chemical weapons against women, children, and as the president said, even small babies. Were calling on Bashir Al Assad to stop using the chemical weapons. Nikki haley is talking about regime change. Shes saying we hope for regime change. The question is, what is the United States prepared to do to get regime change . That seems to be at issue right now. What is the United States strategy coming out of those targeted military strikes . You saw what Rex Tillerson thinks. No change. Were not getting sucked into syria. But the president s rhetoric was expansive on thursday night. Calling on all civilized nations to come together and end the slaughter in syria. Words like that beg the question, what are the actions that are going to follow . And speaking of that slaughter, it was that that really moved President Trump to take the military action, seeing the babies and children gassed. But hes taking heat because months ago, he banned these same refugees, these Syrian Refugees from entering our country. Is that policy likely to change . It doesnt appear to be changing. But it does expose a contradiction in the president s policies. Others have pointed out whats the difference between being killed by a barrel bomb versus a chemical weapon . The United States has drawn a line in the past. The world has drawn a line against the use of the weapons of mass destruction, like chemical weapons. President obama faced criticism for drawing that red line against the use of chemical weapons and then not acting back in 2013. President trump got support for this targeted strike against the use of chemical weapons. But there are Big Questions about the strategy to follow on. Many reasons this has been called the problem from hell. Thank you, george. George has a big show this morning. Youll hear more of his one on one with secretary of state Rex Tillerson. Hell talk with senator marco rubio, and the top democrat on the house committee, adam schiff about whats next in syria. All coming up on this week later this morning. Thank you, george. Now to the fbi expanding its search for man police are calling armed and dangerous. Patrols being stepped up at churches and other houses of worship. As they search for his whereabouts. Meantime, the community is on edge. Adrienne bankert is covering this intense manhunt this morning. Reporter hello to you, paula. Yes, this manhunt happening in the communitys own backyard. At least one church canceling services this morning. After police say a man possibly fitting the description of jakubowski rourt reportedly walked into a church and was asking questions. This morning, authorities following every possible lead to track him down. I started having a kind of panic attack. I couldnt sleep last night because just knowing he could possibly be right the my area. Reporter police releasing a new photo of their suspect, at a nearby gas station. This, after surveillance images Officials Say show the 32yearold stealing 16 highpowered handguns, 2 assault rifles, and possibly silencers. But it was this disturbing video of jakubowski mailing what the fbi tells us is a 161page manifesto to the white house, detailing his plans for a brutal attack targeting politicians and police. Revolution. Its time for change. Somebody was taking the video that we have seen. Certainly he has a circle of friends, a circumstantial of acquaintances who are aware of him. Aware of his feelings. Reporter Police Believe hes still in the area. And say it was his burntout car found abandoned nearby. And that part of his plans involve some sort of school shooting. I want to feel like my daughter is safe and she can play outside safely. Without there being a guy with guns. Reporter and investigators say the community should remain vigilant. Jakubowski has been missing since tuesday. Based on his manifesto, hes hell bept on violence, according to investigators. The fbi offering a 10,000 reward for any information leading to his capture. Reporter in midflight, the other inflatable, an empty slide ramming into power lines as rescuers race to help. One of these Amusement Rides got airborne. Tapping the power lines. I was saying it was okay. And just trying to calm myself down. Reporter in a statement on facebook, the Church Hosting the carnival says they are praying for the injured. This is not the first time a bounce house takes off. In 2015, a water spout spins into a bounce house on a florida beach. A year earlier in upstate new york, this inflatable house flew 20 feet in the air. All three children inside falling out. If you have kids, you know they will gravitate to a bounce house. Industry experts say parents dont have to rule them out altogether. Just remember, wind is the number one enemy of an inflatable. And it can make it dangerous. Dan and paula . So if its a windy day, say no way to your kids. Just reinforces my instinct to never let my son leave the house. Probably not a good strategy. May resent you forit.
