Police were shot at by suspects in two separate incidents. First an Early Morning shootout in southeast. Police say a gunman with hostages in this suv exchanged gunfire with officers. Later that day, congress was put on lockdown while in session as police were chasing two gunman in this car from southwest d. C. Into northwest near capitol hill. During the chase one of the suspects leaned out over the window of the car and shot at officers with a machine gun. Criminals can get guns. We know it. We have some of the toughest gun control measures here in the city. Were dealing with gun violence on a daily basis. Gun violence is members minds and knowing that when we come to a call for service or violent crime, were most likely not the only people with guns there. Reporter now what we know about the three suspects who were involved in that shootout and chase with police when they fired the machine gun at them, that the recoil from the machine gun caused him to drop the gun at the 3rd street tunnel and the gunman jumped out of the car and ran away. He was caught later at a complex in southwest washington, facing salt on a Police Officer and unlawful entry charges. The apartment complex where they caught him, he had already been barred from.
