Just today the president imposed new sanctions on iran as punishment for its recent missile test. A busy two weeks. Meet the press mod erator chuck todd is here. Paul ryan is very supportive of them. Im not surprised hes supportive. Theres bipartisan support in congress for more new sanctions. Former president obama was kind of in the minority in town, in washington when it cams e to ir. This acceptance that iran deal, that the nuclear tale is in place. The words that speaker ryan used to me is enforce it vigorously. Its essentially the same signal the Trump Administration has sent. Today the Justice Department said somewhere around the order of 100,000 visas had been revoked just this week alone. Now the aclu is demanding to know how the government is enforcing this immigration order. Look, i think that it was clear the courts were going to end up being where this got settled and i think that is where this is were still i think were still in that move. But this has had the whiff of stay on it meaning that a judge will say lets pause the enforcement of it while we figure out whats legal, not. It just feels like thats where this is headed. Anit confirmation. But the base of the party is angry. There are senators that are angry the way Mitch Mcconnell handled the garland thing. There isnt a debate about gorsuch. The debate is about the process. The base of the Democratic Party wants democrats to essentially use the republican play book. And i think the base is dragging reluctant Democratic Senators to that position. And if that. Happens, i think Mitch Mcconnell is going to feel pressure from his own base to do that. The unintended sequence is going to be a fractured court system, a senate that is no longer dlib r deliberative. The liberal republicans and the bases of the two Political Parties are willin if they dont play the zero sum game these days. Its already gotten ugly. Yes it seems to be a departure from what candidate trump said. I think what youre seeing is the advisors around him are having some influence on him and maybe hes seeing a fuller picture on whats happening. Frankly, you know, it bothered a lot of republicanins that right after President Trump had his phone call with vladimir putin, russia amped up their military combat in ukraine. And i think that shook the white house a little bit and i think thats what led to that statement. I think it means that he may have a personal relationship with some individuals in russia that he wants to have a positive relationship like vladimir putin.
