shelter last year. amplgts wild street battle that ended with explosions and his death. charles hadlock shows us what led to that shoot out. >> reporter: a dramatic shoot out. a heavily armored black van pulled up around midnight and began opening fire on the police headquarter building. >> reporter: police immediately returned fire but the bullets did no good because the van was armored. it continued to ram several police cars before it sped away with police giving chase. a 12-mile long chase through the town of hutchins where it ended in a restaurant parking lot. >> a swat snipers shot at the suspect through the front wind shield of the van striking the suspect. >> reporter: then they used small explosives to make sure the van wasn't rigged to explode in a greater explosion. >> reporter: police have identified the suspect has 35-year-old james bowlware. man with a history of family violence. he was arrested for briefly choking his mother and uncle at their home. he lost custody of his children and blamed police for that. the family saying they knew their son had problems and glad that no one else was hurt. >> to find out more and to see more pictures and video of the find any signs of the missing 8-year-old girl the team did find a bag with evidence consistent police aring looking for. >> i was shocked that it was right there. since we are looking for evidence, i thought we would have had to get in the water to find it. >> a police lab is expected to process the bag. relisha was last seen on last year in march where her family was staying. tatum later killed himself but she was never found. we topped 90 degrees today. how are things shaping up for tomorrow? >> temperatures will be a touch cooler but still warm and still extremely muggy. here is a look at more on the potential for thunderstorms. i'll have that in about ten minutes. metro's red line trains are bed back on schedule hours of delays. train operator noticed smoke outside the metro station this morning. in response the line had to be shut down for about an hour. the line then had to single track for several hours so that crews could fix the problem. service was back to normal at 3:00 this afternoon. there was reports of smoke at the bethesda metro station. that incident was given the all clear. capital pride parade is moving through the streets of d.c. thousands of people are there including darcy spencer. >> reporter: the parade has been going on for the last hour and a half. they throw out items. you can see they are coming up the street here. a marching band on its way. a lot of fun going on this afternoon. i've been covering this for the last several years. it has grown not only the parade route, the number of people participated in the parade and thousands of people coming out lining the streets in support of diversity here in washington. let's hear from one man who has been coming to the parade for the last several years. >> this is great event. it brings together from all over the area who may not live in the area or have a lot of gay friends. they come here in the community. >> reporter: we should also mention there was some demonstrators demonstrators, about 40 of them, earlier today. police had to break that up. it was largely peaceful. coming up, she dedicated her life to her students. supporters have a special dedication of their grade they could be three years behind. >> we need to get the reading material out to children, have the books and activities in their hand so parents don't have to stress about how to help their students over the course of the summer. >> a number of our employees live here in ward seven we thought this was a heck of cause to get behind. >> they have donated books to 30 schools in the district. we stayed mostly dry today but the storm team 4 weather app says there could be storms on the horizon. a touching distribute to a teacher committed to helping the a special honor for a beloved music teacher murdered at her doorstep. children will be able to play and learn at the ruth ladado playground. for the first time we're hearing from her husband about the park. derick ward spoke to her husband about what this honor means to the family and the community. >> reporter: music and young people were two of her causes. it's fating tribute to her life. >> my wife would be so pleased to see this. kids exploezosed to music. >> we thought of how best to do that. >> reporter: it was february last year when she was killed on the doorstep of her home. police believe it was one of a series of murders. the accused is on trial. a motive is yet to be determined. >> reporter: this park was already planned when it was decided it should honor her. this feature, the giant piano move indoors. have that plan b ready to go. temperatures are in the 80s. right now 89 in washington. 86 in leesburg. for the evening hours we'll find temperatures generally hanging in the 80s. it's muggy outside. it's dry for the evening hours. a lot of it is fall apart but it could still touch off a shower or two. tomorrow here is noon on future weather. the cloud/sun mix like we saw today. 2:00 p.m. starting to see the showers and thunderstorms fire across the area. notice not everybody sees rain. plenty of dry time throughout the day tomorrow. i think the best chance of rain is actually going to be during the evening hours from 6:00 p.m. on into the early overnight hours. i also want to point out this feature here. this is overnight sunday into monday. some heavy rain potentially along the maryland pennsylvania border. for tomorrow the greatest threat would be heavy rain with any storms. that could reduce visibility and lead to isolated flooding. widespread severe weather is not in forecast but i can't rule out that one or two thunderstorms could be on that strong to severe side. a high temperature of 89. we'll hit at 3:00 p.m. we already start off the day at
