The region the storm is finally out of here. But that doesnt mean the worse is over. With significant snow on the ground in many areas, and with the winds picking up, visibility could become a real issue for drivers out there tonight. Unfortunately, it is not only the issue out there. It is plunging temperatures combined with the biting wind that will have you pulling out some extra cover to stay warm tonight. This is how it was out there earlier in the day for many area roads, slick conditions, and low visibility, cause some drivers to slide all over the road, unfortunately, or fortunately, we should say, there havent been any major accidents to report. And it, a bit of a different scene out there tonight as we take a live look out at the ben franklin bridge. Traffic is moving pretty well. The bridge is wet. But you still want to keep an eye out for those icy patches. Good evening, everybody, hope youre staying warm and safe out there. Code blue is in effect across our region. Im joyce evans. Here see ultimate doppler radar, scanning the skies, and really things have quieted down as we headed through the evening. Thats what we can expect, clearing skies, tomorrow. It is going to offer a lot more sunshine for us. Where is that storm going . Well, you can see it headed up northeast, still really affected parts of massachusetts, and into connecticut for us here no longer a threat. But lets take a look at snowfall totals, i picked out a few location that is received the highest amount like ocean view, delaware, at over foot of snowfall. Thats where weve had some of the highest amounts in delaware, and in new jersey, like port norris, new jersey, 10 inches, estell manor, Atlantic County, 8. 7. I think thats where we see a lot of that, some of the highest and the in Atlantic County for new jersey, sussex county, for those of us in delaware. Looking at your current winds gust, you can see, out of the northwest, cold winds, temperatures will be dropping into the teens overnight. As we get gusts to up 20, even 30 miles an hour, thats going to blow around some of that snow. So, while it may not be snowing, you still could have a really hard time driving. And that visibility could be reduced, be aware of that. Temperatures in the teens, meaning some icy spots on the roads. So really just good idea, because of the blowing snow, along with the icy spots, stay home if you can through tonight and into early tomorrow morning. Now, what we are looking at as we head into tonight, tomorrow, through the afternoon tomorrow, temperatures are going to be on the colder side, but also, those winds are picking up. And windchills we are talking below zero in points. We will talk about that in your full forecast in just a bit, guys . All right, thank you so much, monica. Folks at the jersey shore saw some of the biggest accumulations in the first winter storm of 2017. Coastal towns were hit president zero pretty hard, now the concern is freezing temperatures as crews continue to keep the roads safe. Lets check in now with our Sabina Kuriakose live from somers point, new jersey, sabina the worry is icy Road Conditions. Yes, thats exactly it, dawn. I want to show you right now where were standing look at the huge snow banks these plows have been leaving after clearing out all of the snow, in these parking lots, see thick, heavy stuff, thats really creating the problems on the road here. You mention what the big concern is, well, lets go over to route nine here. You can barely see actually where the curb stops, where the road begins, you look at it, see the plows have done really good job so far of moving all of that slush that we saw earlier out of the main part of the road there. You can see that sheen on top of the road. Well, thats where the salt is doing its work by melting some of this slush away. But thats exactly what were talking about, and were worried about these freezing temperatures causing some ice covering to the night. It was a blast of winter white with the force that caught some in south jersey by surprise. Nothing it slowed down a lot, but it never stopped. So i new, and it was a matter of time before things really de tire ate dollars. Winter storm though didnt row lent, until well past night fall. Dumping almost 7 inches of snow on the grounds. Wind and cold adding to the mix. We caught up with Atlantic County mailman, michael brian, getting off his shift after a very long day. The snow and ice start today pile up. And it just had to take your time. It was rough out there. It was really rough. Roads slush filled and slippery. This van off the road on route 42. Plows catching up only as as the snow tapered off into the night. In somers point, snow meant hours of hard labor to keep streets and driveways clear. Since 10 00 this morning, and still going. Partners jose and eric bundled up as they worked to clear snow. Nearby and off the main road, five year old gunner was still going strong even as the sunset. A reprieve for some, but, the worry tonight as temperatures get below freezing, all of that snow and all of that slush, icing over. All weekend, but it is all wet here, later in the day, later in the night, all of that freezes up, so very, very dangerous today, tonight, tomorrow. Now, a warning from the workers, you know they know what they are talking about, theyve been out all day, and they continue to be out here tonight. Now, back here live on the roadway here, you can still see, again, this is one of the main roads. Still a lot of the snow and slush has been moved over. It has been salted. So a lot of that has actually melted, as well. But we are talking about those smaller roads, those neighborhood roads, those are still a concern, of course, weve seen plow Truck Drivers tackling those into tonight. But again, the worry right now is the slippery roads, we will continue, even with the snow gone, we want to make sure people are still careful, back to you.
