I supported her in 08 when she lost the primary we fell in line with president obama and now it look like its going to be our turn to make history and nominated the first wop president. You know dozens of countries around the world have already elected women to positions of highest leadership, but never before in this country has a woman so much as been nominate. That will change tonight just about an hour or so. That includes the surrogate who knows her best. Bill clinton will take the stage tonight to speak for his wife and several mothers affected by gun violence. Also be center stage at the Wells Fargo Center the mothers of eric garner, Michael Brown and sandra bland all scheduled to attend but the choice to have them speak is not sitting well with some groups. The day two theme of children and families isnt supposed to be especially controversial, but one group of speakers has philly police upset. They say that allowing mothers who some of their children were killed in confrontations with the police to speak is just disrespectful to the officers protecting the convention. Mothers of the Movement Made up of mother whos lost their children to what they call senseless violence will take the dnc stage tonight. They include the mothers of trayvon martin, sandra bland, eric garner and Michael Brown and the philly police say some are too controversial to deserve a national platform. Our opposition is theyll theyre going to have family members of those attacked Police Officers on stage and others without giving a fair chance to our surviving families who had spouses or fathers or loved ones gunned down. Reporter Michael Brown case is the one that most offends the police. But mother of the movement Cleopatra Cawley whos daughter was gunned down by gangs in public park told me tonight isnt about blame. Its about mothers regardless of how were united through loss of a loved one. We are group of mother whos have all lost our children in different capacities and we are holding the next establishment accountable for implementing ideas that, you know, will make america safer. Reporter as for the claims that theyre anti police the police, they protect us. The police, we all i believe have someone in our family is a police. So it isnt possible to believe all police are bad. We respect the right to protest as long as its in a lawful way. We would like to have the ability to have our side told as well. Some republicans are calling on the dnc to yank Pennsylvania SenateKatie Mcginty from its list of speakers this comes after mcginty used an expletive to describe a florida senator pat Toomey Mcginty has since apologized and toomey accept that is. The race between mcginty and toomey very closely watched one on the national scene. Mcginty is slated to speak thursday night. On day two of the dnc protest continues across the city through south philly to north philadelphia and beyond. These protests are causing traffic headaches. And police are carefully monitoring the scene making sure things remain as peaceful as possible. Fox 29s jeff cole is live at city hall with a look at some of the big protests today. Jeff . We certainly been down to fdr park where that is the sanction off the protests have continued there, but let me have you look up north broad and what youll see up there all those police lights. Well theyre surrounding a group of protesters who started up at broad and diamond at about 3 00 oclock and they are making their way down here. Portions of north broad of course are closed off as they make their way down. Their goal here is to meet up with other organizations then head to fdr park. While we look at these folks coming, lets take a look at a story and the protest that is we did a little earlier in the day. It look like war protests. A lot of positive feedback from people but as youre about to see no mode of transportation in the city right now is perfect. Horns honking, cars crawling through grid locked center city streets on day two of the dnc that has drawn tens of thousands of visitors to tone do downtown philadelphia. Between delegates, politicians, celebrity, median protester. Septa spokeswoman carla, says street protests have caused service detours, delays and anx among riders. We started trying to leave at i believe at 2 00 oclock and it took us two hours to get here. Then we had to walk a long ways. We took a taxi. Taxi didnt drop us off over here. Phillips says her uber trip to the Convention Today was much better. Sharon coolidge cincinnati was heading home after the event monday night was a nightmare and limited uber drivers for the volume of people leaving at rona forced fares to sky rocket. Our uber ride costs 13 during the day to get back and forth which is great and ubers have been great the drivers so nice. Last night they asked for 166. I know someone who paid 212. For the same 13 ride. Kane attending her Pretrial Hearing this morning for her role in allegedly leaking grand jury information. Shes also accused of lying about it. Officials tell us preliminary motions were filed and there was no ruling today. Today session was to let the judge know these issues could come up during the trial set foretaught august 8th. In philadelphias wynnefield neighborhood, police say a would be robber pick the wrong person to target. It all started at a gulf is it a gas station on bryn mawr avenue. Police say the suspect tried to carjack an employee there. When he failed, police say he went down the street and targeted someone else. That person however had a license to carry and shot the would be robber. Its tonight no charges have been fired against the shooter much police say he is cooperating. Suspect is in critical condition. The search is on for two teenagers accused of of car yack ago woman at gun point in south philadelphia. It happened about 12 30 this morning of the victim had just parked her car at front and morris when two teens on bikes demanded she get out. They took her i pad and stole her car. When Police Chased the vehicle investigators say the carjackers lot of control. This was around the 4800 block of springfield and it crashed into eight parked cars.
