BOSTON — Alexis Brown lined a first inning two-run triple and Lauren Leidemann-Smith followed with a run-scoring single as the University of Southern Maine rolled to an 8-0 win in five innings to secure a sweep in a softball doubleheader Tuesday over UMass-Boaton.
Leadoff hitter Erin Martin led the Huskies (24-1-1)  with three hits, including a double. Leidemann-Smith and Brown each went 2 for 3 and Rona Scott and Ashley Tinsman each chipped in a pair of hits.
Samantha Hauck was 2 for 3 with a two-run home run to lead USM to an 11-5 win in the opener.
